Thankyou for posting, but how sad that this single incident which was badly handled by EMI-Decca has given young music-lovers the impression that all of Flagstad's high-C's were sung by Schwarzkopf! Fortunately, I was given an opportunity to confront this in a program for Swedish classical radio (P2) from 1995, which was aired on July 12, 1995, the 100th anniversary of Flagstad's birth.
Her tones! simply stunning! The rest of you are frustrated critics/ student singers that will never get past where you are. You're dissapating your energy! Sleep well!
This is the most beautiful voice ever ! God bless all the engineers who recorded her sublime and unique voice!
Flagstad here is glorious. Nilsson sounds as a child in front of Flagstad
Great line singing by the most beautiful voice that ever existed.
Her timbre was indeed that of an ideal wagnerian soprano.
I think it is a studio recording of the final duet from July 1951 with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Georges Sebastian.
The standard by wich all others should be measured. Svanholm and Flagstad - the Wagnerian couple.
Il n'y a pas une voix qui soit plus belle que celle de Flagstad! Je l'adore...

Exceptional recording - Flagstad wonderful. Her responses to Siegfried e.g. 5.50 really moving.
Plus que génial! +++++ - SILENCE - Ecoutez!
Does anyone know the source of this magnificent performance, when and where, live or in studio? Thanks.

I don't know, that high C at 3:21 seems spliced in. But beautiful warm voice.
Couldn't agree with you more!
