Thanks to Randy K7AGE for the inspiration: • Let's Build A Field St...
The build was documented by Steve Saint Andrea AG1YK in the Feb 2015 QST magazine.

the icing on the cake would have been a listing of parts and sources. good vid!
Thanks Daryl, I’ll see if I can find the links. Good feedback
Cool build. I built one over the summer. Was a fun project. Was interesting to see that almost any wire I used in testing became an antenna.
Yeah, great learning experience.
Supercool Mr Ape! Put some woodgrain vinyl on it and it'll look like it is 1970's NOS Radioshack gear!👍🤠
LOL, that would be awesome!
That would be very useful for comparing HT antennas. Great video Ape.
Agreed. Thanks for watching TEH60 👍
Cool project Mr Ape.
Sure was LC 👍
Pretty neat. I now have 3 of these things!
Can never have too many… lol
That looks like a fun build an cool gadget!
I agree on both accounts. Thanks for watching Andy 👍
Always enjoy your build projects. I've been counting all your different multimeters; I think I'm up to 492...am I close?
Lol, that’s close. Thanks for watching Bob 👍
One useful ham tool Ape! Tnx for sharing Sir! Back in the day, I used it to see the difference between vertical and horizontal polarization of an antenna. 73 - KF6IF
Howdy Phil. Yeah, this was a pretty cool build. Thanks for checking it out 👍
Nice build Ape. A very useful (I dear say essential) tool when playing with antennas. SWR isn't nearly as important as field strength. A dummy load has perfect SWR, but zero field strength. 73
Agreed. Thanks for checking it out Hollywood!
Cool, thanks!
Thanks for checking it out BA!
Please post URL link too the QST FEBRUARY 2015
Great tool for you icom guys who fight that nasty RF getting into your SDR front end radios 📻😊also a Tiny SA ultra will also help when hunting specific frequencies.
That hurt. It is true, but it still hurts.
@@Siskiyous6 might be a low blow but legal in this case ☺️🇺🇸Yaesu4LIFE
lol
Thanks Ape!
Thanks for checking it out Randy 👍
😆I can't wait till I get my ape smoked tonight!😁
Lol, I'm going to try and behave 🤣
sir whats the frequency range bcoz in34 can detect AM signal
Could this be incorporated into a fox hunt yagi setup?
I am sure it could, just use the yagi as the antenna. I do wonder how well it would work at distance, especially in an RF rich environment...
First! I still haven't put mine in the box. I did wrap mine in gaffer tape. #prowhitetrash
You need to chip chop son!
Hey I am trying to make a telemetry setup and i am missing the fsm, is there a way to set the FSM for a single frequency?
I’m sure there is but I’m not sure how, I’d use an antenna tuned for that frequency 👍
I do have a yagi antenna tuned to it! Using sdr I can hear the signal I just have very poor hearing so I'd like to visualize the signal strength to adapt!
Can something similar be done to limit the FSM to a specific frequency range? Curious.
If there is, I am not smart enough to tell you how to do it. Thanks for watching Tim.
Yes, you can add a band pass filter inline with the antenna system or even use a variable inductor in series with the antenna to change resonant frequency..

Touched by his noodly appendage
Right
Didn't come with no screws?! I would had just used my wife's hot glue gun again.
I was gonna do the duct tape
