Driving on 180 W. and came across the beautiful Palo Pinto courthouse and old jail museum. Definitely worth a stop if you're on your way to Possum Kingdom State Park.

My ancestors went out to Palo Pinto county about 1912 to pick cotton. I only know this because when I was doing my ancestry research years ago I found the whole family on the census out there. So I asked my Dad why they would be way out west of Ft Worth during that time and he said that was why-for work picking cotton.

If you’re going West and you have time go see the Ft. Davis, Alpine, Marta and Marathon.
Ft. Davis is high up in the mountains and has one of the world’s largest telescopes.
Texas is truly beautiful.

I did my open water dive certification at Possum Kingdom. Water can be very murky. There is actually an old fort submerged under the waters when they put in the damn and filled it up. It was interesting to dive along the fort.

I'm surprised that a lot of folks aren't watching these videos. Having a ball watching but then I'm an adventure type of a person. It would be awesome to see older building brought back to life. I think frugal has worked in a few parks but I'm fairly sure Possum Kingdom was one of them. Very cool place.

Swivel, swivel, swivel! 😄 Those mountains are beautiful so I don't mind the swiveling so we can all get a good look at them. I enjoyed the drive today, and also the look at the courthouse, jail, and Main Street of Palo Pinto. The stonework on that courthouse is very nice! Hopefully you can get back to visit the jail someday too. I've been meaning to ask how your friend in jail is doing. You haven't mentioned him in a while, so I hope everything is okay. Enjoy your trip, and have fun planning the next one. If there's anything you want to do, you'd better be doing it!

It’s a beautiful area. We go to the firework show they have for Independence Day. Hell’s Gate is really neat, I hope you were able to see it from the park.
I did not see it but saw photos online and thought it was pretty awesome. I'll go around that side of the lake the next time I am up here. Looks pretty impressive.
