I can't tell you how many tutorials I watched or read for this technique and they all made it look difficult. Yours is perfect! So easy to follow and learn all that's needed to increase and decrease, finish the end, etc. Thank you, thank you!!
Your instructions were spot on! Your camera angle perfect. Thanks for making this video. Direct and to the point. Thank you! I’ll be refer back to this video whenever I need a refresher.
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. I keep making beaded earrings once in a few years and occasionally completely forget what to do. This was actually extremely easy to follow, I already started making two feather styled earrings that start with a brick pattern and end with lines of beaded tassels. They turn out so much heavier than you'd expect, all those beads really add up.
Love to watch you, how you explain how you take your time and you show us exactly step by step and how honest you are. I just want to thank you for showing us how to do different stitches.
Love this so much, it is so clearly explained and you keep your fingers out of the road so we can see where you place your needle, thank you so so so much
When I ask someone to explain something to me abc 123, this is what I mean. After watching I can attack this stitch with no fear. Thank you from Jamaica 🇯🇲❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍😘😘😘
Good demonstration for this fun, easy stitch. The upcoming tutorial for the cool earrings should be alot of fun. Thanks, Gina, for sharing this technique and explanation with us.
I truly know how to screw things up. I haven't tried yet to do anything but I just wanted to compliment you on your video. It's visually appealing. I might have problems doing something but it's on my part. You're a great teacher in this video. I will definitely will be checking out the rest. Thank you.

I just got some beads and I had no clue there were even “stitches” you needed to do.. but this tutorial is great and now I can make a watermelon :D OMG I DID IT AND IT WORKED YESSS
I still check these out after 8 years of experience, cause there might be something knew. This was very clear, nice closeup, different/opposite background...very good

You are a better girl than I am miss Gina! Love brick stich hate the ladder stich....lol...only do the ladder base when there is no choice, love brick earrings because I can start with two beads and just increase until I have the sides I want. Unless I am working with bugle beads or doing a larger piece where I have to do that single ladder i avoid it every chance I can...to time consuming
Thanks, Margaret! I think the only thing is, is that you would have to start with a long length of ladder stitch and then build on top of it. I really like doing those rings with peyote since you can work with the shorter width and build out, but it is definitely possible both ways. :)
Love love love your videos...im learning...how does one make a brick stitch diamond shape earring with fringes? Not sure if you if you already made a video...
Hi Joleena! Thank you! You can make the diamond shape first, with brick stitch, and then add a strand of beaded fringe off of each of the bottom beads, in various lengths. I have a couple of fringe earring tutorials that aren't exactly that, but may help a little! 💜😁
Excellent tutorial. Easy to follow. To make it easier to see thread work, a lighter or white thread might help me as my eyes have trouble seeing and tracking the flow. Otherwise, great instruction. Many tutorials use beads and thread that blend in which make it hard for seeing construction and work.
Thanks so much for watching! I usually hear from viewers they prefer the dark thread over the light background, but I appreciate you sharing that with me! 💜💜💜
You're a very good tutorial person now let me ask you the Delica beads what size do they need to be in and what size seed beads are these I may have missed that thank you
Hi can you tell me what is the type of thread you are using and what other threads would you recommend...is there different threads for different bead?
Hi Clara! My go-to is 0.006"/6lb fireline. It is very strong, thread-like, doesn't knot as easily as other threads, hardly frays, doesn't stretch (nearly as much) as monofilament fishing line, and doesn't dry-rot. Some beadweavers also really like WildFire, which is similar, but is more of a personal preference thing. Hope that helps!
Hi! So I recently just learned how to make some fringe earrings but one problem I have is that my fringe is quite stiff... I have been using seed beads and I noticed that they’re kinda not always the same size :/ Would delicas help? Or should I switch to a different type of thread? Any recommendations? Thanks :)
I’ve been beading for years, but I was taught to make a knot in the beginning. It always seem to distract from the beaded piece. But you didn’t, and the beads stayed on…..? Have I wasted years on frustration? So I’m going to try this today. (Is there a knot on the end?)
Hi Rachelle! A lot of people start their beadwork with a "stop bead," which is a bead loosely knotted at the tail, in order to hold the beadwork in place. If you are using a beading thread like Fireline, though, and have some experience beading, I find that a stop bead really isn't necessary. Again, though, I am very used to keeping my tension while beading, and the beads won't fall off the thread once they begin to be woven in. At the end of my piece I put a needle on the tail thread, and weave/knot in at that point. Hope this helps! 💜💜💜
Thanks for sharing and teaching. I though would like to ask what color are the beads that your beautiful ring is made from? I'm distracted by staring at that ring. Absolutely stunning. What color, size, and type of beads? Thanks 😊.
Thanks so much, Angela! They are size 11/0 miyuki delica beads. I have a tutorial on this ring, if you search for modern stripe peyote ring. The color is a purple ceylon. 💜
I feel really silly right now. In the very beginning of this tutorial, how do you keep the beads from falling off when you do the ladder stitch? We thread our first beads on and start to go back up through the bead, and then it falls off.
Hi Bethanie! You are more than welcome to use a stop bead. If you leave a tail that's around 6" you should be able to hold the beginning with your fingers, after some practice, without anything falling off. 💜💜💜
I purchased some black fireline & it leaves a black residue on my fingers. This wasn't much of an issue when I used it on a dark beaded piece but I did a ring that is black on the edges & light pink on the inside. I wanted the black so it wouldn't show on the outer edge but the residue discolored the pink. Do you wash your string first?
Hi Janene! That's true - It sometimes leaves a black residue on the fingers (annoying), which comes off easily after a wash. I never noticed it discoloring any of my beads, though, and I use it most of the time. That stinks that it discolored your pink beads - wondering if that had something to do with the coating on those beads specifically, or if you were able to wipe it off? Did you know they make a "satin" version of the black fireline that is supposed to have a coating that doesn't leave a residue? I haven't used it yet, but that's what I have heard.
@@ORCHIDandOPAL maybe because those beads were a matte color??? I found that it washes off after washing my hands on other beads. I'll have to look into the other color. Another difference I've noticed is that it stretches a little & my rings then are too big after a few days. I tried using another fishing line that is more ridged & it doesn't stretch so I've ruled out my weaving tension. I'm still fairly new at weaving so I'm trying to find what works for me & for particular projects.

Hi Chello! I wish, but brick stitch (except for the very first beads of the row), is a one at a time endeavor. Thanks for asking! 💜💜💜
Would you be able to do this with pony beads?
Technically yes, it's just that there will be some extra space between the beads due to their size, but it is definitely doable. :)
