Is it ok to read the CEV of the bible or do we have to read KJV
It is not a sin to read other Bible versions besides the KJV although I personally believe it is unsafe to rely on these versions for serious Bible study. From my studies into the topic I've learned of many shortcomings of these versions, eg. Whole chapters omitted in some cases. Important phrases or clauses omitted and even chapters. Words sometimes used as synonyms which gave inaccurate spins on doctrine etc.
Most serious is that these newer versions were made from corrupted manuscripts found discarded in waste baskets in monastries. Sounds suspicious?
The KJV was derived from the Textus Receptus or the Received Texts Manuscripts which are more authentic than NIV, NKJV and others which came from the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus corrupted versions of Wescott, Hort and Tischendorf. Besides they are poor manuscript copies.
Take Luke 4:4 for example. The KJV from the Received Text reads:
And Jesus answered him saying, It is written. That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
In the Vaticanus Revised Version Like 4:4 reads: And Jesus answered unto him, It is written, man shall not live by bread alone. The NIV, RSV, Living Bible and Phillips copy the RV. This is but one of many examples of such abbreviations of verses which shange full meaning of Scripture. For this reason I prefer the KJV.

Honestly, the beauty of the Holy Spirit is the one who will guide you into all truth. Pray about it. Read what is easy for you to understand. Start there. If you want a modern translation-NASB is a good translation too. The NASB is an original translation from the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts, based on the same principles of translation, and wording, as the American Standard Version (ASV) of 1901. Don’t get caught up in the KJV only arguments (and I happily read a KJV Bible just as easily). Remember it’s a translation into English, old English because that was the language at the time people spoke and understood. Same reason the NT manuscripts were more in Greek, because that is the common language people spoke and understood rather Hebrew and Aramaic. Neither Jesus nor the apostles spoke Old English (KJV) and neither did much of the world- the importance is that the gospel is communicated in the language people read and can understand. 😊🙏🏻✝️🙌🏼❤️
I have gone through the question of many bibles and realised that there is almost 71 different bibles in English. These bibles confuse me with different words. Most take off a lot of words and meanings when the bible clearly states that no one must add or subtract from the bible. Why then must this panel use these bad bibles. I thought we are the people of the book, why then are we now the people of the books? This is what the devil has been waiting for all these years. IS NOT NOW THAT The SDA IS NOW DETAILING OUR JOURNEY TO HEAVEN VIA THE DEVIL BIBLES..I WOULD WANT AN ANSWER BECAUSE I AM VERY TROUBLED. MOST PENTECOSTALS NOW ARE HIGHLIGHTING THIS AND BACK TO THE KJV WHICH IS CLEARER AND VERY GOOD.
