Thank you BB, that is an incredibly kind and generous thing to say 🙏 *side note* That almost went very badly indeed; I reread my comment just before I posted it and realized that instead of the "thankful prayer hands" emoji, I'd mistakenly flipped you the bird. Glad I caught that before it went out...though your reaction would certainly have been interesting 😄
Wow, thank you Evelan. This was a surprise, and a lovely one at that. This is certainly the first time anyone has tipped me on the channel 😄 Not quite sure what to say, to be honest. Thank you seems rather inadequate, but I thank you nonetheless.
I wanted to thank you again, Evelan. My thoughts have come back to this simple act of generosity a number of times over the past two weeks, and I wanted you to know how much it meant to me. It certainly wasn't necessary, and I'm not sure it was remotely deserved, but it did touch me. It touched me very much, indeed.
A brilliant reading. Really captured it. I've always thought that along with "Hop Frog" these would have originally been read 📖 by lots of people in the United States as deeply 'republican' (small 'r' lol) tales.
Thank you Stephen, that is very kind. To be honest, I can't watch a video I've just put up for a while. All I end up noticing are the mistakes I didn't notice, the glitches I couldn't fix, or the things I'd do differently. Then I think of the tens of hours I spent editing and end up in a funk 😄 Hearing comments like this do help, though (even if I think you are being overly generous). Thank you again; it is very much appreciated.
@@MattiesStoryland as someone who is VERY overcritical of my own stuff I understand. I don't think I'm being "overly generous". You really did capture it. We 'moderns' are kind of in a process of rediscovery. Namely the importance of having these stories read allowed. For an adult audience. Which is one of the main ways they were first known. So not just good work. Important work.
Im from nz and my mum was from huddisfield and got me into a lot of the books you have in your reads. Thank you so much these are really helping me unwind before bed. We used to have an old tape called mid winter tales that she used to play when i was a kid, may be a long shot but any chance on these tales? If you have any idea what im on about haha
Hi BB, I'm glad you are enjoying the readings. Any chance you have more information about the tape? The only "Mid Winter Tales" I can find is a book featuring the Moomins, the Swedish children's characters. Given that you are commenting on a Poe short story, I'm guessing that's not the one.
Really looking forward to this🎉🎉🎉🎉.
Thanks Stephen, I hope you enjoy it.
I feel blessed whenever I see a notification from Mattie's Storyland

@@MattiesStoryland Yes, I definitely would have had conflicted feelings about that response 🤣
Thanks!

Well Done Evelan. Major good taste. Due to pecuniary difficulties (aka Mr M from David C 😂) I am not able to do that. But a massive well done.

My GED class has just started studying this. When you greeted them, they all looked at each other in amazement, like "how did he know?" 😊
That's marvellous 😄
Hello, new supporter courtesy of Stephen Sinclair. Love this tale and the gravitas you bring to its telling. Subbed for more. 👌
Welcome, Xadrum, and thank you for subscribing. I'm a big fan of Stephen and thoroughly enjoy his writing.
@@MattiesStoryland He's doing great work ATM; and am always pleased to find new channels to support.
It's the next school year, so I've used this again. When you greeted them, the Year 9 students opened their mouths in amazement 😅
Great to hear from you, Nasafalkas. I wish I could have seen their faces!
