Breaking down a Remington model 512X

I just want to give you a big thumbs up for saving the day for me. My dad gave my son a Remington 512 Sportsman and he's been deadly on the vermin that take from our garden in our backyard with 22 shorts in this rifle until a problem surfaced with feeding. I took the stock off and cleaned as much as I could to no avail, but after watching this video, I took out the trigger mechanism and got it all cleaned up with complete assurance that my parts were all in working order. Patience is definitely a must for reassembly of this little rifle, but your video has given my son a reliable shooter to keep on going with now. Thank you again for this excellent video!!

It is a small request, but if youtube allows a feature to mirror the video you can get the LEFT-RIGHT to not be flipped.
Actually I do it on purpose and some videos I forget to not do it. But they get mirrored because of YT program, certain shirts with says or what not will get a video de monetized. Which isn't a problem for bigger channels with sponsors. But us small guys have to use every trick we can.
Thanks so much for your video! A coworker owns one of these and couldn't get it back together after a disassembly, so handed it to me for help. Unlike you, lots of unhelpful "guides" don't talk about the mechanical details, so your coverage of the trigger and elevator is just what I needed!

If I get 500 likes ill do a video on the safety. It was miserable I took this rifle apart 2 years ago to refinish and today I put it all back together. This video was helpful on the feed mechanism. The safety truly is a pain but do able with 2 screw drivers and a nail set.

Just inherited a 512 made 6/1951 from my dad, it was his granddad's , I used it at age 6 and up, now its mine , refinishing the stock with Tung oil , found some deep scratches and gouges in the barrel and want to clean them up and reblue it, thanks the help

Did you end up doing a Reassembly video?
I have a Remington 510 and 521T. The take down screw on mine has a very wide slot. Too wide for a flat head screwdriver. I use a nickel. It fits the slot perfectly.
Most parts for the Rem 512 are the same as the nylon 12 except stock & r sight, same with other nylon models, 510 is a nylon 10, the 511 is a nylon 11 ect.

Thank you for showing me what I think is the problem with my Remington 511 I think it's the trigger where the sear goes to I have not put them on the part yet I'm waiting on you to do the reassembly on this one I would have probably tried to accept this is my girlfriend's gun that her father left her. So if you have did this reassembly and posted it under someone else please let me know so I can watch that video

Please help. I’m missing parts and don’t know what I’m missing. I do know I’m missing the carrier and stop assembly completely. My problem is that I’m also missing the middle of the three screws and don’t know what it’s for. Obviously can’t feed any rounds at all.

Did you ever get around to the reassembly video?
I can't figure out why the stock on mine presses against the feed tube Making it hard to remove the inner tube. In order for everything to work right the barrel is slightly loose in the stock. Am I missing something to give space between the feed tube and front of the stock?

@@joshuahoeffner3686 Reverse the way it comes out. Put it into the back of the receiver as far as it will go, pull the trigger, and slide it closed. Make sure it's not loaded. I own a 510, 521T, and 513T.
@@RustyGuns I have to replace my sear as well. Did you have to file the sear at all to make it fit properly? I went to order one and it says requires fitting.

Try numrich gun parts. Huge online seller and sometimes will find these and hard to find parts.
