- Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart was a great game, it just had some retcons to the story that were pretty avoidable. At least in the next game, Ratchet and Clank will finally go to the Lombax Dimension. Anyway, let's do this one last time: like, comment, and subscribe!

I'm sure those aren't the exacts stats but the train of thought is correct. R&C just isn't as popular of a franchise compared to Star Wars. Like these fan animations Nicholas makes are likely the the highest profile fan projects for the entire series!

Check my reply to your pinned comment. Overall, I enjoyed it. Certainly better than the 2016 game, but still deciding if it’s as good as A Crack in Time. Primary reason being it’s not long enough. Not enough planets. A Crack in Time was also too short for me, and it had the same number of levels/planets as Rift Apart, more if you count the Insomniac Museum. They have to have a museum later on down the line. Too much stuff on the cutting room floor.

I finished the game yesterday, so this is perfect timing! Great video as always, and I’ve checked some of your older Rachet and Clank video’s awhile back. Despite graphical age, they were actually pretty cool. It does feel just a tad strange knowing you started with Rachet and Clank, and not Star Wars. But hey, both are more than fine in my book!

Im sad we didnt see any characters from before, but this was in another dimension. We saw the Plumbers son Gary tho. And met new ones. I hope in the next game we see how Ratchet and Clank goes find the Lombaxes with Rivet and Kit and of course with Talwyn AND the others. And (i know a lot of ands) the final boss could be the Cragmites War Lord or something.
You know, I just realized something. Insomniac have gone on record saying “We didn’t know what to do with Angela.” So they dropped her and moved on. Seems the same thing happened with Talwyn. They didn’t know what to do with her, except that time they dragged her through 3-4 games where she did nothing. The only time she displayed any character was in the comics.
At least with Rivet being a playable character and protagonist we get to spend more time with her and learn more about her. I think she’s going to stick around for a while.
Honestly, I was far more furious over a lack of Lawerence than a lack of Talwyn.
My one complaint is that Ratchet isn't the one who fought Emperor Nefarious, Rivet got to fight Doctor Nefarious after all.
I agree, but story-wise they didn't have as many options. Rivet lost every battle against the Emperor in the past; the final showdown had to be about her and Kit.

going to be the unpopular one here, I was very disappointed in this game, the story was one of the most contrived and forced narratives I have ever seen, to the point it felt like a really bad rough draft, the trailers also gave off the impression that the story was different at the start, as they did consider a darker tone, but oh no we can't have complexity and nuance, that would require effort. The characters all suck, Ratchet is nowhere near as nuanced as he was in Into the Nexus, and Rivet is just a empty more watered down version of him, Clank was reduced to being a toaster with eyes for the entirety of the game, and Kit who had the most development as little as there was is just the generic former evil henchmen archetype, which could work if there was ample screen time to develop her. The only thing the game has going for it, is the graphics, but I want all of you reading this comment to understand this. "Special effects age, a good story does not" -George Lucas the creator of Star Wars a New Hope 1977, 20 years after its release, the OG ratchet and Clank is still widely beloved even though it has aged graphically, and will still likely be looked back upon fondly 20 years from now, in 20 years time, I highly doubt any of you will really remember Rift apart other than how it looked, but remember special effects age, and Rift Apart will age, as newer games come out, the novelty that this game has will be meaningless in the wider landscape of the gaming industry, Rift apart is a glorified powerpoint presentation, it fails as a continuation to Into the Nexus for Ratchet and Clank, it fails as an origin story for Rivet and Kit, and it fails as a platformer due to being watered down in its mechanics and being heavily focused on gunplay, which isn't helped with older weapons being re-used again. This game is a failure for many of the same reasons the 2016 reboot was, a lack of understanding what makes Ratchet and Clank, well.... Ratchet and Clank. Sorry for the long rant but in the end it needed to be said.
