- The egg shaker is awesome! If you practise a little and pay close attention to how you can change the sound you can make great tricks with these toys. Check out how to create a roll effect similar to soft ghost taps on a snare drum and how to make a natural filter effect with your hands. Thanks for watching! More videos on music production with hardware instruments can be found on my channel. Have a great day everyone! :)
It's so amazing to see how one can give a month's worth of perc lessons in two minutes, without saying a word, just by very concise demonstration. Thank you sir, you have been more help here than you know. Please keep up the good work.
That makes me really happy, thank you! :)
No shit.. Too many people on these tutorials talk waaaaaayyyy toooo much. All that explanation is so unnecessary, just like people who over explain a joke, worrying that people won't get the punchline.
def agree!
1:25 sounds like the world's fastest toothbrushing
lol...
you made my day dude....
frfr
This reminds me of the time in high school when I was in the choir and they gave me a cabassa to play during some Christmas songs.
I pulled so many badass cabassa manoeuvres that I'm surprised it wasn't my calling in life.
Wait don't go… I have questions! 😂😂😂
:))
never even knew this existed let alone anyone being good at it! haha interesting indeed . the sound is pretty mesmerizing at times
Nice technique
That triplet fill sounds fantastic
Fantastic -- simply fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing.
I was thinking if I should buy one so I can take it with me to the mountains when I travel soon! Came to RUclips and was in awe after I watched your video. I’m so convinced to get one now and will definitely be using your video as a guide. Even got me practicing my rhythm without the instrument. You didn’t speak a word but taught me a lot. Thank you for inspiring me ❤
Thank you for the nice words! These shakers are so much fun to play, you will love it! 😊👍
1:25 close your eyes and imagine someone brushing their teeth getting angrier by the second.

Thank you!
Mind blown. That'll keep me occupied for months. Thanks! PS, technique #2 reminded me of the sound of teeth being brushed.
Hahaha... yes, sounds a lot like brushing the teeth. Thanks for watching! :)

Thanks a lot for the nice comment!
I found that Lousy saying nothing made the video so much better; Let the technique speak for itself! Amazing
These are just words. .. still. I love you. OM
FABULOUS. Got any tips of selecting shakers to purchase?
Thank you! I haven't tried too many of these but I do own some different ones, they were all very cheap (€ 1,- each or so...). They all sound quite different from eachother.
The loudest one I have is by a company called Justin. It's yellow (don't know if that means anything) but is also a bit lighter and harder to control when playing it. I think I usually prefer the heavier ones.
I also have a shaker by a company called Meinl. It is not an egg shaker though, it looks almost like a small drum with skin strapped over a metallic body. It sounds good but totally different again. It's s bit of an apples to oranges comparison though... You can make other sounds with it and it's also rather loud but I don't play it much because you cannot do this triplet trick with it...
In my experience these egg shaped shakers are better to play than all other shapes, even better than some of the more expensive ones.
I would recommend buying a small set of different egg shakers and see how they differ in sound and usability.
Thanks for the nice comment!😊
awesome! I have my own egg shakers now and you helped me with your techniques.
stella makka What a nice comment, thank you! :)

Thanks a lot! :)
This is lit
Thank you!😊
is this what Cameron does when he takes a day off, and Ferris came come over?
How would you mic this performance? I would guess from above, to avoid hitting the microphone.
For this video I simply used the built in mics from the Zoom Q3HD camera I had back then. For some reason it sounds weird when the signal is recorded really hot though. It's better when you leave lots of headroom. And yes, placing the mic above is a good idea.
I don't understand the triplet. Could youdo another video? Grazie
Don't want to promise anything but I'll see what I can do. Thanks for watching! 😊
this is shaweeet!
🔥🔥🔥
Did you make or buy it? If you made it, how? Thank you!
shmuel cyprys It's really just a playing technique and it works with any egg shaker but it's a little easier with the heavier ones that are not so loud in tone, they are just a little easier to control.
someone get this man an instrument
Hey man, egg shakers ARE instruments, you know?! But I have other instruments, too... If you're into electronic music or singing, please check out my other videos. Thanks for watching! :)
a+ shaking

How to program this pattern on drum machine?
I've been thinking about this quite a bit... You would definitely need a triplet scale resolution with 24 steps per measure just for these faster "shuffle notes'. The problem is you may need a "regular" 16 steps resolution with a bit of swing for the other notes and not any drummachine can use different resolution scales within the same pattern. You could do it on one of the older Roland MC boxes (303, 307, 505, 909), on a Yamaha QY or on an Akai MPC for example. Thanks for the question!
@@LousyFacelift I'll give a try with one of my Roland boxes. I think key will be to take a sound and have different attack and releases, i guess 3 versions of the same sample with right envs and volume.
I just programmed the pattern on my MC-505 and I'm quite happy with the result but it's not so easy to explain. As I said before it's a combination of sixteenths notes and sixteenths triplets (or twentyfourths) notes. Also you need to program a light swing setting on the sixteenths which is a bit special in the 505. What Roland box do you use?
I think i love u
Hahaha... love you too, man!
Hahaha brother you look so stoned
K53no No, that's just my concentration face..... I think... I can't remember exactly to be honest..... damn.... I must have been really stoned...... well that's not the point, OK?! ;)
This guy smokes dope. Great watch, thanks
just wao
The noises I make when I brush my teeth.
Who else is here because Megan the Stallion was comparing?
I must have missed something...
Asmr
Sounds like he's brushing his teeth
My brain cant quite process how to do this.. 😵
It takes a bit if practice. It's all in the closing of the hand basically. Try in a tempo that's comfortable to you at first, don't pay too much attention to the tempo, that will come later, quite naturally. Have fun! 😊
@@LousyFacelift I will try to learn it thanks you so much..

How the fuck did I get here...?
