I got this one to. After playing with it for about 1 month i can say its awesome. All i really want to play is ps1 and ps2, gamecube, dreamcast, n64, wii, wiiu, naomi. Higher end stuff. And sure i love giana sisters c64 is here aswell ect ect but mainly its awesome. I typ best gamecube games and top 25 its there. Best dreamcast games boom its there. Best ps1 its there.. This is crazy it truly does. In my old days everybody had 1 system... Now i got all of them running on minipc and my laptop wich only has 1ghz but can boost up to 2ghz wich runs ps2 most good enough. Gamecube np, dreamcast np ps1 np. Awesome i mean my laptop uses 12 watts 😂 and just take a controller with me and my train rides are to short 💯😂

Nice immersive go-through, Rick! Would you recommend this unit? Personally I'd just for the CapCom 1-2, MAME, SNK neo geo, NES, SNES, Sega mega drive collections if the games actually play yeah lol.. seems like a load of crap to go through, too many duplicates really.. so I'm not sure I'd get it, if worthwhile..

Thanks for the great positive comments so yeah there’s stacks of repeat games that’s my pet hate with the drive but for the money it’s fine tbf or if you seen a second hand one cheap enough but I supply drives mate and build custom to order so all the retrobat/batocera builds you see on my channel are my builds!!!
If the systems you wanted above was all you wanted you would get away with a 1tb drive or maybe even a 500gb drive but I could come up with something for you, and if you watch any of my builds you will see I pride myself with artwork and collections with little to any repeat roms
Anyway have a look through if you’re in the uk obviously it’s better as the postage is a lot cheaper but

Great review matey - Can you just copy this drive onto another HD without the gunk, bloat and crap games?
Hey buddy, you can’t copy it directly as such but you can write a Batocera image to a drive then just copy all the files or all the files you wanted over and do it like that, it’s still a damn lot of work to sort all the trash and repeats out, or you could always buy a better drive in the first place,

Hey mate, yeah a lot of games run as they should and as I said if you want a cheap little
Emulation drive they’re fine, obviously some systems will run better if your computer
Is a bit more powerful my points or where it says there 100k or so different games there isn’t most of them are repeats there is a lot of programs and educational software on the old computers that you would never play or even load
I’d rather have a hard drive full of games
That work and arent repeated so many times like on this drive like the 220 street fighter 2 games
But if you want something just to play some of the old systems etc the drive will be fine
but you can fault them because they are just downloading the pirated games and selling them, the least they could do is curate them properly !

@@kikayei I don’t think so, maybe in the attic I’ve got some consoles up there but I had stacks of games for the original Dreamcast I haven’t a clue where they went, I’m old now so memory has gone hahah I’ve got ps1, ps2 3 original Xboxes all out but I know I have some other stuff bagged up maybe my Dreamcast is up there!!!!
My question is what a Gpu you used? I have a GTX 1050 and GameCube and Wii and the other hard things doesn't go well 😅? Which Gpu you prefer?
Hey mate so there’s a few but I think the best value gpu unused for the small form factor pc was the Nvidia T400 you can find on eBay for less than £100 at times or for a normal card I used a gtx 1650 that works fine with gamecube and can find for about £110

Hey mate, I don’t know if it works on amiga but if you’re using retroarch core you can press the retroarch menu buttons usually say Xbox button and red combined and goto the disc swap options but I’m not near a computer so can’t have a look for you atm,
Is this item any good for first time beginner
Hey bud, yeah I suppose will be fine for first time but they all are so you can get a lot better, depends what you’re planning on doing with the drive? Are you wanting to build your own system and use the roms? Or just playing it? But will be fine if you just want to have a quick play and aren’t to bothered about the repeat games but you can get a lot better for similar money which will give you a lot more of a playable experience

This review could have been 90 minutes shorter. All you did was complain about duplicates. You showed that a lot of games loaded but rarely actually showed gameplay... I did like some of your input, but a real review would have shown gameplay as well. I was particularly wondered why you showed the soccer game then changed it to 4k but didn't show any of the 4k footage... Overall this review was not great. I am not a hater... just my opinion.
It was basically more of a first look for me to compare to my builds, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but mine is that I was seeing this for the first time and my biggest gripe with these drives is the fact they load them with duplicate games that falsify the numbers of the collection so I wanted to show the actual collections and what you was going to get if you was to buy this drive, I have seen many videos of the drives that review and show gameplay they quickly mention there’s repeats in the collections and show gameplay of the working titles and don’t mention the fact that the 120k games is more like 40k with thousands of bad roms and repeat games so I was showing it from a different perspective, I don’t feel the need to show so many games running as you could get hit with copyright also it’s pc dependant so if you have a gaming pc it will run all the games that work fine, the system I was showing it on had no graphics card in so some of the newer systems like ps2, gamecube etc wouldn’t be playable, also if I was to show gameplay on my main gaming pc and show every game running on max settings no lag or stutters then it would be giving a false account of it for someone with a very low end pc, so the 4K game wouldn’t of ran at all on the pc I was using it on without a graphics card I’m basically just showing that the option is there if you have a powerful enough pc, so yeah it wasn’t so much of a review but a look at the games collections which I and many others believe is the most important thing with these drives, but thanks for the input like I say everyone is entitled to their own opinion

I went to your channel and watched other videos that you posted and liked quite a few. Keep up the good work. U got any videos of how to map the buttons as all.the buttons are backwards or just dont do anything lol its driving me nuts
There’s a few mixed in with my videos you can on some systems change it through the advanced system options or others you can load the retroarch menu while playing the games
So if go into a system like Super Nintendo press back/select on your controller and goto advanced system options and controls sometimes you can find a swap a and b option or
Load a game on the system you wanna change and press your retroarch hockey combination on mine it’s the Xbox button and blue then you can goto controls and alter them to whatever you want from there

yeah they compact the games down so you can fit loads more on, on my 500gb and 1tb systems I use the same but anything over that i have a different collection which i believe are mostly full rom's with sound but i'm sure there's still some compressed ones thrown in

To use on the these Batocera SSD drives, do you need a high end pc to plug it in via USB, or will a regular i5 office ssf pc do the trick? Thanks
Hey Bud they aren’t ssd drives you can get them but expensive and your regular i5 office pc will generally run systems upto Dreamcast , n64, PlayStation, Sega Saturn ok anything past that would require a graphics card
I just bought the 500gb version, it works on both my sons high end systems, and it also works on my old system that runs on an AMD A-10 with 8 Gb of ddr3 ram and an Rx 580.
Is it missing bios or it comes with complete bios set?

My pairing fails … Seems like Batocera doesn’t see my Bluetooth driver. When I hit the pair a Bluetooth controller nothing happens.
I have a mini PC and gullikit King Kong pro controller.
Other controllers also failed.
Do I have to enable something in Linux?
I’m using Batocera 35.

Hey Bud so Batocera doesn’t recognise all Bluetooth dongles I tried a couple that didn’t work including an older Tp link, then I tried a newer TP link and it worked straight away with ps4 controller, Xbox one controller wouldn’t work there’s also a way of forcing the Bluetooth adapter to recognise the controller, Batocera Nation did a video on it and I managed to get one of the adapters that didn’t work working by doing this
The Bluetooth adapter I used was

I finally got most games working, just not c64, cd32 amiga, spectrum. How do I get amiga games to run from it. Would appreciate the help.
Hey mate, I haven’t actually got that drive now and not used it since this video so I really couldn’t help as I haven’t got it to see what works and what doesn’t, are you clicking games and they just don’t load? I’m surprised Amiga doesn’t work although They aren’t great drives but the only thing I can suggest is when you go into the Amiga gameslist press back or select on the controller goto advanced system options and at the top where it says emulator try the different ones in there if that doesn’t work it maybe bad roms? Hope it helps but without having the drive I can’t really do anything else bud

Hey, did you set the multi display up? Right click on the windows screen and and click display properties and make sure it’s recognising your tv? You must click the option to duplicate the display

Hey mate, what is it screwed up for everything or just certain systems? I know someone screwed their mame controls up and you have to delete the ini file from within the menu, then when you boot a game it will create a new file, or is it on everything?
@@RicksRomzUK Ah good man, thanks for the reply. I figured it out eventually. I find that some of the systems have to be reconfigured a lot to get anything running ok. Are your drives tweaked for performance at all?
@@Dave7g they are to an extent but obviously one person will buy a drive that has onboard graphics and the next might have a full on gaming rig that would run everything in 4K so tbf it’s impossible, some systems like the ps2 might run 90% of the games at 1080p then the other 10% might only run native or 720p, I sell actual pc’s with my build
On and obviously then I can go to town a bit more and set the systems up more

Hi, I just saw your video. Are the roms on Batocera the same as I would use on an emulator on my PC? Could I rip the roms off of the Hard drive and put them on my personal drive and run those games in Windows? As I understand it you have to boot with this drive is that right? I am very new so please pardon my ignorance.

@@SuperRiddick69 hey Ian the killer instinct game needs a chd file to run as well as the zip file so I’m assuming the file isn’t on the drive they’re fairly big files so they rarely get put into collections

Yes mate funny you should mention that I’m working on it right now!!!! It’s a royal pain in the ass but I’ve got quite a lot working upto yet around about 50

That’s because my drive is a million times better, if you watched some more of my videos then you will see my drive and system is better, unless you like a million duplicates, also it’s not a review if you read the title it’s my first look and my impressions, so if you look at my reviews and comments I’ve never had a bad one from my system so if you ever want a proper drive or want to see a decent build just ask, you tosser

I noticed in the rom folders there was PC88, PC98 and X68000? (At least the first two) but didn't see the emulator or collection on the menu, are there roms but you need to add something so it shows on the menu?
I'm trying to get a decent HDD or box loaded but I want the Jap PC stuff.😅

So when you install Retrobat or Batocera it adds a folder for all the systems it’s supposed to support, I haven’t actually tried the pc88 or 98 so I don’t know about them, I’m not even sure if I have any of the roms but my 2tb build as the msx1, x68000 and PC engine/turbogfx games on
@@RicksRomzUK ah, thanks for that, I sometimes see the different builds on RUclips, and I think it tends to be the Batocera builds that have the japanese pc stuff on the selection bezels, rather than EmuElec ones. (Which seem to be the OS of choice for pre-setup android boxes).
@@IainiaI I do put some on like I said above also a cpl of th handhelds like the Wonderswan and neo geo pocket I’m sure they work for most of added, I did find with the x68000 there’s not a great deal of artwork easily accessible but there’s a still a fit bit out there
