    After my surgery for breast cancer it took 3 years of daily exercises to achieve full shoulder mobility again. Don’t give up!

    Madam, whether the radiation fibrosis would be cured by stretching?

    • @therecoveryroom2198
      @therecoveryroom2198  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Tessyk5571, my apologies I missed your question earlier. Stretching won’t “cure” fibrosis, but it will soften and lengthen the tissues which should lead to less discomfort and better skin and joint mobility. Best wishes to you!

    I have a question. I’ve had 2 open back surgery’s same spot T12-L1 fusion. Scar is 7 inches long still in pain can it be scar tissue? Thanks for sharing your video!

      @therecoveryroom2198  2 года назад +1

      Hi Cory! So sorry I am only seeing your question now. How’s your back pain now? Yes that can be scar tissue. I would check in with your PT who can help you figure it out and get rid of it!

    Wat is treatment for internal scar

  • @sadie4me2
    @sadie4me2 3 года назад +1

    Can scar tissue be removed surgically? I have this pretty large lump close to my armpit after having radiation treatment three years after a mastectomy. I think this lead to lymphedema in my arm and my arm and hand becoming slightly purple. I’m seeing my oncologist next week to talk about this.

    • @therecoveryroom2198
      @therecoveryroom2198  3 года назад +1

      Surgical removal is rarely done as it tends to cause more scarring. Have your doc get you to a PT to mobilize and stretch that area. Stretch and strengthen your arm!

    Thank you so much for this information. I have had bad muscle spasms since my surgery and radiation for 3 plus years. Is there a reason I'm having muscle spasms?

    • @therecoveryroom2198
      @therecoveryroom2198  2 года назад +1

      My guess would be from the tightness. Do these stretches and get to a PT if you can. Best wishes!

    Thank you. I do not know if I understand correctly that radiation forms scar tissue? How can this happen and does it have the same effects, tightness, stiffness, etc? Thanks!

    • @therecoveryroom2198
      @therecoveryroom2198  2 года назад

      Hi Caroline! Radiation can cause what’s called fibrosis which mimics scar tissue with tightness and stiffness usually over a broader area.

    Hi, is it safe to massage the breasts after a lumpectomy? and are there any complications?

    • @therecoveryroom2198
      @therecoveryroom2198  Год назад +1

      If you are still within about 4 weeks of surgery or completing radiation, talk with your physician on when it is ok to start self massage as typically it is a good thing to do!

      @@therecoveryroom2198 Thank you.. I have one more question, is this scar tissue the same as calcifications? I read that one could develop calcifications after breast surgery. I'd be glad to get a feedback.

      @@perpetualeze7371
      Hi! This scar tissue is very different than calcifications in the breast tissue. If you have more specific questions about this, you can talk with your radiologist or breast surgeon. Best wishes to you!
