honestly big brain idea, since lightning wants to keep racing, we can probably see a story where maybe lightning can finally have a long awaited upgrade because racing just keeps growing and lightning can enter as his own car and team sporting docs design race against cruz but the fun part about the idea is that this could all tie into cars 2 where they travel the world and join the international racing league where we would then get to bring back alot of the old rivals and possibly make new ones and for the heck of it Mater can be the crew chief and also spy on the other teams (kinda like how every racing franchise known to man does to their competitors.) but ye this is only a thought guys, thats what i would personally want to see because i loved the international style. if yall have any ideas or disagree with this just hit me up im always open for suggestions to go with the story.
Honestly if they want McQueen to keep racing, an upgrade is pretty much the only way for him to do so unless he starts racing in lower homologation classes in a different racing series. Since it's never really been explored, it's possible that something like that could work. Maybe some crazy doctor shows up to give him the equivalent of a heart transplant? Who knows. Would be cool
We haven't seen Mater and Holley get along in Cars 3, so Cars 4 need to be made. The concept i heard that it will be like Cars 2 but without a spy things,, there would be a 2nd world grand prix to really decide who's the fastest car. Francesco would be back and Jackson Storm also and def Cruz Ramirez that will be the antagonist of this project. What can McQueen will do to face these new generation?

I love the car series- one of my few happy childhood memories revolves around this franchise. And I hope they make more installments including a 4th movie! I thought the On The Road series was cute & fun- I wish the episodes were longer but I understand it’s a shorts series. I know it’s controversial but I actually really loved cars 2 ~ or I should at least say I love the concept. I love action & espionage films and obviously I love cars so this was a perfect combination of two of my interests. It would be super cool to have a Finn & Holly spin off or even just a series revolving around exciting action & spy stuff. There’s definitely a lot to still do with this franchise and I hope we all show up to support whatever is next to come! ❤️
Cars 2 was straight up the dark side of THE CARS UNIVERSE. 1 and 3 were mainly focused on the life of being a circuit racer later international celebrity of his era. You gotta like that concept when they do something outside the legal world.
See, I thought cars 3 was amazing. The amount of Easter eggs and callbacks to Nascar and racing history in the South was really awesome and I thouroughly enjoyed it. I'm guessing not as many people enjoyed it because they didn't understand the racing history behind a lot of the scenes. And I'm glad they had a large Nascar reference to it throughout

For Cars 4 I'd love to see Lightning & Sally ADOPT a child car (Disney loves that shizzle) who goes on to do dangerous street racing with the four TUNER CARS*- (*Thanks to Nascarfanatic2425 ) Lightning tries to tell him to keep racing on the tracks where it's safer, but Lightning Jnr won't listen, so McQueen gets Cruz to talk some sense into him - telling Jnr about NASCAR, stock racing, WGP, Thunder Hollow,etc...all the different styles of 'controlled' racing. Eventually Jnr becomes THE fastest race-car around.
That would be cool for Cars on the Road and would work as its own movie, BUT that would mean leaving Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell, and basically the rest of Cars 2 into the dust. They should end it more dramatically, having the fourth movie tied to Cars 2, Cars 3, Cars 2006, and Doc's death, where they should tell it differently than what we would expect.
Id love to see a cars 4 movie centered around how everyone handled doc's passing, especially how McQueen handled it considering A: doc basically became a father figure to him at the end of the first movie (at least thats how I see it) B: I imagine the two got very close racing on the dirt track and C: i assume he kept racing as some sort of coping mechanism when he passed, but how did him coping w/ doc's death affect him on the race track? If it does happen, I think Cars 4’s main story will focus heavily on Cruz with occasional cut away scenes to a now retired Lightning McQueen getting into different adventures away from racing, probably similar to what happened in Cars on the Road.
I think otherwise. I feel like we may get a return to the spy stuff. As there was a post credits in Cars 3 that showed Mater answering the phone and we either heard breathing or nothing at all. Plus that and in the credits one of the things we see if Professor Z's emblem
So guys the reason why they would never show Doc Hudson’s death in Cars 3 which was because that the producer Jay Ward decided not to bring it because it was too depressing. That last flashback was supposed to be the scene of his passing But they decided just to take it out entirely. Also Credit to Ned Wheeler for having the source on his channel.
I know people are tired of McQueen as a racer, but the third movie would have been better if Lightning raced instead of Cruz. I think if they do make a 3rd movie it should be something about Lightning being challenged to win one last championship. I feel like an action-packed story about Lightning at multiple tracks would be well received. Take inspiration from Drive to Survive and make it like a pseudo-documentary. Were as the entire thing doesnt have to be him racing, but he can sort of narrate what happens/happened from time-to-time. This would also open up the writing team to get creative with jokes and you could use the interview segments like hit movie Surf’s Up did. I feel like capitalizing of the boom Netflix and other streaming services and making it feel like your binge-watching a series instead of a movie is a really creative, smart, and fun idea to refresh how parents and kids look at the series.

Yeah this is a great idea. Binging is way more exciting now. Surfs up another legendary movie. How many cups does he have jus 1 right & he won tha international race. Mcqueen gettin kinda old. Maybe they could past tha torch 2 a new racer. That way its a fresh start 2 modern era & mcqueen becomes a doc? Also we havent seen a street racer 1 😮 hopefully they do something with those cars that trolled him while he was sleeping. Its jus something about cars 1 thas so special. I think that Cars 4 has a good likelihood of happening, and then us never seeing another Cars movie again. From recent history, movie franchises that do prequels tend to do rather good, but when they do sequels, the writers tend to write plots that damage the main characters, putting them to the side, and "ruining" what they were. A shifting focus away from the main characters from the main line tends to not resonate well with audiences. We've seen it with Star Wars, among other franchises. I believe you can explain this psychologically, in context of the original audiences: most of the people that can give money to the franchises are the people that grew up with cars. They aren't yet parents or grandparents, and if they are parents, they are young parents that are probably ambitious, or perhaps they don't have the money to spend on movie theatres. So that leaves us with the original audience, who are just ambitious. They don't want to see the characters they lived with take a back seat or a mentor role; they identify with those characters. However, with prequels, the mentors and past generation, the audience identifies less with them; they see them more like their parents, so the movie ends up being similar to some really cool life story about their parents and teachers, etc. What audiences really want to see it seeing the original main characters continue adventuring when they get older. Maybe they pick up a sidekick, and maybe they do some mentoring, but they aren't just a mentor yet; they still need the action. Of course, the reason is because they audience themselves have gotten older in a changing world that wasn't as it was in their childhood, but they still want the action. What Pixar should first do, considering they have Disney +, is they should make prequel shows on the origins of characters. It would feel incomplete without Doc Hudson, but it should bring in far more profit than Cars 4 in the current climate. When writers get good again, then they make Cars 4.
they more than likely couldn't find a replacement for Doc Hudson, so they left the character dead along with the voice actor. it's difficult finding the right person to fill the role, because it was so legendary.
I seriously think they should compensate for Doc's actor passing away as Doc losing his voice, that way they can animate him but not have to record his voice and maybe Hudson can have a device with a text to speech element so that he can still talk.
I know the Cars franchise isn't meant to get into some crazy plot like slipping through alternate dimensions but it'd be fun if they bring some time travel plot and reintroduce young doc with a different VA
I could see Lightning after retiring from the Piston Cup, competing in a “Cars” version of the SRX series, where it’s a series comprised of 12-13 racers per eace on a mix of dirt and asphalt short tracks with most of the racers being former cup series drivers, while acting as Cruz’s crew chief in the Piston Cup with Smokey acting as his.
They need to make cars underground with tuner cars and trucks streets racing, drifting, music, hot rods, etc. I’d like to see that and would reach out to a new audience
I honestly would love to see a story where Cruz is the main character, i for one LOVED cars 3 and cruz's story, what i think should happen is cruz's own experience with her McQueen as her mentor, and throughout the years as McQueen gets older he could possibly race with cruz and end up getting into a big wreck similar to his one in cars 3, but except its more fatal and he could pass from his injuries and in an emotional wreck cruz could somewhat go through what Mcqueen did in his rookie years and then have an emotional victory honoring McQueen, thats what i think should happen in Cars 4

I highly doubt that will happen, because did you forgot what happened in cars three Mr McQueen retired because he was getting old. The new racer will be cruise because she wanted to be a racer, and Mr McQueen gave her the chance.

honestly that would literally just be the first movie over again except without the whole getting stuck in a random town and being a total dick part. If they ever decide to make another cars movie I hope that they have some good idea that still keeps the original spirit of cars in mind (f cars 2 lol) but creates a whole new story like cars 3 did.

Though I would love a disney plus exclusive cars prequel to how lightning became who he was as we never found out how he grew up or even a story into how doc hudson died as both leave a huge hole in the Cars franchise.
You described the plot of cars as the plot of cars three and then said they never addressed what happened to doc.... well, doc died. That was kind of a big part of the 3rd movie. Paul Newman died, so doc did too and they spent a lot of cars 3 going over that.
I want a movie including Finn and Holley. At least a series would be good. Although a great idea would be a prequel about McQueen's backstory (in case u don't know it's actually kinda sad)

cars 3 was the perfect ending to the series. lighting had his time to prove himself to the world in the first cars movie. the second was a good continuation on what other things the cars world had to offer. then the third movie depicted lighting becoming too old and slow for the newer generation of racers but as his friends left him to retire, he pushed on. ultimately he was never fast enough to keep up with the newer racers forcing him to retire but not without giving it one last shot. sadly he still was barely too slow but this is where he left his legacy to Ramirez as she passed over Jackson storm using the same technique passed to lighting from doc Hudson and then to lightning and now to Cruz. Cruz won the race and took the mantle as #95 while lightning retired as his time was now over. I really hope they can just chill on cars and let his legacy do his thing. cars 4 doesnt need to happen and i dont want it to
I think it’d be interesting to see various different movies centering around different types of Motorsport and the like, for example a movie about a rally car or a stunt car.
I still hope they make a Cars 4 with McQueen returning to racing for a one last time and beating Storm all by himself and then possibly fully retire That would be incredible

They did do something making it look doc is dead - lightning has photos of doc from the first movie , all the characters that talk about hin they talk about him in a memorialistic way

Cars 4 must be focussed around Lightning McQueen otherwise there is no point in watching it. I would love to see him race a full championship because we haven't really seen him win a big race before. Cars 1 (gave up the win), Cars 3 (Switched with Cruz). I want to see him win it all by himself.

I feel like they should do a second Cars 2, because Cars 2 was focused more on Mater than McQeen. I feel like they should do a Grand Prix, but more focused on racing, or do a time between Cars 1 and Cars 3.
I was thinking that cars 4 would be something like cars 2, in a world grand prix, but the plot is entirely different, focusing in 2021's world grand prix where storm and cruz would be there, and a nice crossover of all the cars we've met throughout the trilogy.
I want next cars movie to be a prequel of seeing lightning when he was younger and seeing him climbing up through the academy, I think they should do that first before they think about making a movie of lightning of what he does after being a mentor to Cruz.
It should just do what Rocky VI does, get a retired McQueen back to racing, with simply just 'newer' parts, but his raw speed is slower, but his veteran skills make him win the race through other techniques.
Like Cars 2, I believe they should merge racing and spies in this, not doing the mistakes Cars 2 made, and by far making this a serious end to the 4 movies. I both love racing and spy action, and I want Cars 4 to make sure they don't make the same mistake as they did in Cars 2, making the main character the comedy-relief character. We may even get a backstory for Finn McMissile, though I'd like it to be in a spin-off, but I'd like the movie to get a lot heated throughout, not just a babble on the fraud Miles Axlerod, but one of his affiliates and being an asset (assassin) ordered by him to launch the Lemons once more, or another organization, and kill Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez. I do would like to see a pretty heated plot, and have this movie connected with Cars 3, Cars 2, the original, and even Doc's death. That would be a proper way to end the series. Plus, as they are not planning to do it now, if they begin production this year, it's likely we'll see the movie released in the time period of 2024-2029. Besides, noting the gap in productions of both movies; Cars 2 & 3, it will be possible that it will take a while for Cars 4 to be ready to be released to the public.
I LOVED the spy action in Cars 2 and honestly it’s probably my favourite. We need to know the back story of these characters like Finn, Holley and the red car in the beginning I forgot about. As you said, a mixture of all 3 films combined into one with all the cars at the end or something would finish it off well. We also definitely need a backstory of Doc.
Cars 2 was awesome because it was different. I strongly believe Cars 3 should have been a different storyline AGAIN (instead of a remake of Cars 1). The James bond & Fast & Furious films all have different plots for each film -Why can't the Cars franchise ?!?!?

If cars 4 ever happens, I want this to be the story: Cruz enters the new piston cup season, and a new rookie joins. During the race, she gets in a horrible accident, like McQueen. McQueen is devastated by this, but a couple weeks later he gets an invitation from Tex Dinoco, to join the Dinoco team. He starts training to become a racing legend once again and replace Cruz.
I think the reason that cars 3 did bad in box office is because not people that grew up on cars are in there teens to even mid 20s. But when Disney plus came out I feel like everyone watched cars 3 on Disney plus.
They should make an anthology series based on the WGP racers, piston cup racers new and old, Luigi and Guido’s relatives in Italy, the spy organization and maybe even the planes over at Propwash Junction

Id like to see him and doc having a moment or something together and they really go way back (dating or something idk) and then Axel goes back to avenge hudson and kill Cruz in a race because he sends in a new evil race car.

I think another reason why Cars 3 was not as successful is because he generation that grew up with the original Cars were "too old" by the time Cars 3 came out. I grew up with Cars and am now 18, and when Cars 3 came out, it was pushing the edge of my childhood time watched animated movies.

Id love to see a cars 4 movie centered around how everyone handled doc's passing, especially how McQueen handled it considering A: doc basically became a father figure to him at the end of the first movie (at least thats how I see it) B: I imagine the two got very close racing on the dirt track and C: i assume he kept racing as some sort of coping mechanism when he passed, but how did him coping w/ doc's death affect him on the race track? What was going on through his head during races and after the fact
If it does happen, I think Cars 4’s main story will focus heavily on Cruz with occasional cut away scenes to a now retired Lightning McQueen getting into different adventures away from racing, probably similar to what happened in Cars on the Road.
I think otherwise. I feel like we may get a return to the spy stuff. As there was a post credits in Cars 3 that showed Mater answering the phone and we either heard breathing or nothing at all. Plus that and in the credits one of the things we see if Professor Z's emblem

So guys the reason why they would never show Doc Hudson’s death in Cars 3 which was because that the producer Jay Ward decided not to bring it because it was too depressing. I know people are tired of McQueen as a racer, but the third movie would have been better if Lightning raced instead of Cruz. I think if they do make a 3rd movie it should be something about Lightning being challenged to win one last championship. I feel like an action-packed story about Lightning at multiple tracks would be well received. Take inspiration from Drive to Survive and make it like a pseudo-documentary. Were as the entire thing doesnt have to be him racing, but he can sort of narrate what happens/happened from time-to-time. This would also open up the writing team to get creative with jokes and you could use the interview segments like hit movie Surf’s Up did. I feel like capitalizing of the boom Netflix and other streaming services and making it feel like your binge-watching a series instead of a movie is a really creative, smart, and fun idea to refresh how parents and kids look at the series.

Yeah this is a great idea. Binging is way more exciting now. Surfs up another legendary movie. How many cups does he have jus 1 right & he won tha international race. Mcqueen gettin kinda old. Maybe they could past tha torch 2 a new racer. That way its a fresh start 2 modern era & mcqueen becomes a doc? I think that Cars 4 has a good likelihood of happening, and then us never seeing another Cars movie again.
From recent history, movie franchises that do prequels tend to do rather good, but when they do sequels, the writers tend to write plots that damage the main characters, putting them to the side, and "ruining" what they were. A shifting focus away from the main characters from the main line tends to not resonate well with audiences. We've seen it with Star Wars, among other franchises.
I believe you can explain this psychologically, in context of the original audiences: most of the people that can give money to the franchises are the people that grew up with cars. They aren't yet parents or grandparents, and if they are parents, they are young parents that are probably ambitious, or perhaps they don't have the money to spend on movie theatres. So that leaves us with the original audience, who are just ambitious. They don't want to see the characters they lived with take a back seat or a mentor role; they identify with those characters. However, with prequels, the mentors and past generation, the audience identifies less with them; they see them more like their parents, so the movie ends up being similar to some really cool life story about their parents and teachers, etc.
What audiences really want to see it seeing the original main characters continue adventuring when they get older. Maybe they pick up a sidekick, and maybe they do some mentoring, but they aren't just a mentor yet; they still need the action. Of course, the reason is because they audience themselves have gotten older in a changing world that wasn't as it was in their childhood, but they still want the action.
What Pixar should first do, considering they have Disney +, is they should make prequel shows on the origins of characters. It would feel incomplete without Doc Hudson, but it should bring in far more profit than Cars 4 in the current climate. When writers get good again, then they make Cars 4.
I would love a cars 4. Pixar should never stop producing the cars franchise.
they more than likely couldn't find a replacement for Doc Hudson, so they left the character dead along with the voice actor. it's difficult finding the right person to fill the role, because it was so legendary.

I could see Lightning after retiring from the Piston Cup, competing in a “Cars” version of the SRX series, where it’s a series comprised of 12-13 racers per eace on a mix of dirt and asphalt short tracks with most of the racers being former cup series drivers, while acting as Cruz’s crew chief in the Piston Cup with Smokey acting as his.

I honestly would love to see a story where Cruz is the main character, i for one LOVED cars 3 and cruz's story, what i think should happen is cruz's own experience with her McQueen as her mentor, and throughout the years as McQueen gets older he could possibly race with cruz and end up getting into a big wreck similar to his one in cars 3, but except its more fatal and he could pass from his injuries and in an emotional wreck cruz could somewhat go through what Mcqueen did in his rookie years and then have an emotional victory honoring McQueen, thats what i think should happen in Cars 4

Honestly if Cars 4 is made I see Cruz being the racer and lightning being her mentor and crew chief even at the end of the third movie lightning could still race but i do see him retiring as he wont be able to win unless he gets upgraded. Though I would love a disney plus exclusive cars prequel to how lightning became who he was as we never found out how he grew up or even a story into how doc hudson died as both leave a huge hole in the Cars franchise.
You described the plot of cars as the plot of cars three and then said they never addressed what happened to doc.... well, doc died. That was kind of a big part of the 3rd movie. Paul Newman died, so doc did too and they spent a lot of cars 3 going over that.

cars 3 was the perfect ending to the series. lighting had his time to prove himself to the world in the first cars movie. the second was a good continuation on what other things the cars world had to offer. then the third movie depicted lighting becoming too old and slow for the newer generation of racers but as his friends left him to retire, he pushed on. ultimately he was never fast enough to keep up with the newer racers forcing him to retire but not without giving it one last shot. sadly he still was barely too slow but this is where he left his legacy to Ramirez as she passed over Jackson storm using the same technique passed to lighting from doc Hudson and then to lightning and now to Cruz. Cruz won the race and took the mantle as #95 while lightning retired as his time was now over. I really hope they can just chill on cars and let his legacy do his thing. cars 4 doesnt need to happen and i dont want it to

I want next cars movie to be a prequel of seeing lightning when he was younger and seeing him climbing up through the academy, I think they should do that first before they think about making a movie of lightning of what he does after being a mentor to Cruz.
doc hudson was referenced several times in cars 3 so he wasn’t just left out
It should just do what Rocky VI does, get a retired McQueen back to racing, with simply just 'newer' parts, but his raw speed is slower, but his veteran skills make him win the race through other techniques.
Like Cars 2, I believe they should merge racing and spies in this, not doing the mistakes Cars 2 made, and by far making this a serious end to the 4 movies. I both love racing and spy action, and I want Cars 4 to make sure they don't make the same mistake as they did in Cars 2, making the main character the comedy-relief character.
We may even get a backstory for Finn McMissile, though I'd like it to be in a spin-off, but I'd like the movie to get a lot heated throughout, not just a babble on the fraud Miles Axlerod, but one of his affiliates and being an asset (assassin) ordered by him to launch the Lemons once more, or another organization, and kill Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez. I do would like to see a pretty heated plot, and have this movie connected with Cars 3, Cars 2, the original, and even Doc's death. That would be a proper way to end the series.
Plus, as they are not planning to do it now, if they begin production this year, it's likely we'll see the movie released in the time period of 2024-2029. Besides, noting the gap in productions of both movies; Cars 2 & 3, it will be possible that it will take a while for Cars 4 to be ready to be released to the public.
I LOVED the spy action in Cars 2 and honestly it’s probably my favourite. We need to know the back story of these characters like Finn, Holley and the red car in the beginning I forgot about. As you said, a mixture of all 3 films combined into one with all the cars at the end or something would finish it off well. We also definitely need a backstory of Doc.

Cruz enters the new piston cup season, and a new rookie joins. During the race, she gets in a horrible accident, like McQueen. McQueen is devastated by this, but a couple weeks later he gets an invitation from Tex Dinoco, to join the Dinoco team. He starts training to become a racing legend once again and replace Cruz.

I think another reason why Cars 3 was not as successful is because he generation that grew up with the original Cars were "too old" by the time Cars 3 came out. I grew up with Cars and am now 18, and when Cars 3 came out, it was pushing the edge of my childhood time watched animated movies.
