1957 was a troubled year for Chrysler Corporation. Beautifully styled cars. Quality control was awful. They rotted out by the time they were 5 years old. Paint came off in sheets. Torsion bars broke. They leaked water inside the car. GM probably had the best quality in 1957.

Absolutely not. Fins were added as a styling exercise. As a matter of fact, fins only weighed needlessly the car.
