Great concept. I simplified it a bit more by running my 1/2” dowel all the way to top of skull and screwing it to skull.

So in order for the 3/4 in. dowel rod to run the whole length ,the cross member supporting the T is actually 2 pieces with the T riding on them?

Yes, that's how mine is set up. I think it would be better to have the cross piece be one piece and use a 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/2 tee to ride on it.

I made one years ago with a turning head, and had it so long I had to make a new one last year. 🡺 ruclips.net/video/k7dhQLMqxPk/видео.html

Looks like the rod with the dowel rides against the frame of the creep of causing the movement , not so much the counter weight. In any event this is a great idea and a great design change reducing a two motor creep like mine to just 1 motor
