The Austrian Minion comment made me laugh out loud. So many good tips and humor in this video. Thanks for pushing through the video creation headaches to make it.
I’m finally catching up with the summers antics. Love everything about your videos, including the guest appearance of your hilarious and extremely gracious ’minion’.
I always feel like I have the worst luck but watching your videos makes me feel like at least there's two of us. I'm currently in Florida in the direct path of the hurricane with my truck broke down. I paid a ton of money to have the part I need overnighted and UPS after taking my money tells me it will be here in 5-6 days-- maybe longer. I tow a travel trailer
Wait a second. First genius idea- use Corny kegs for the pressurized water system. Now the zip tie/heroine syringe trick? You sir, are an engineer at heart!
A couple things...when KC told you that was what you should expect from the gauge, due to passing through the engine (leaks)and crankcase; it is normal for the gauge to drop back in zero in about 45 seconds. You can crack that valve just a bit open to keep the "30lbs" on there while you check with the soapy water for leaks. I didn't see you check the lower boots to the engine. Those are a good source of leaking also, if they've been on awhile.
She’s choochin’ alrite! Love it when Jason goes full nerd on us! Thank you! I reckon a guy is worth a cold snack after all that sciensing. In fact, I’ll get a wobble pop right now.
The new chip seems to have made a difference. Losing the solenoid and resolving the leaks helped I'm sure. Nice save on the gauge. I thought the higher boost air pressure might help lean things out a bit and lessen your black smoke. The new turbo seems to be a hit! Take care...
I just picked up a 7.3 diesel after tons of research and with you being a big influence on that decision. I was looking at getting some gauges and can't quite decipher what the 4 A-pillar ones are. I would love to just run torque, but I have an iPhone. Thanks for the help and love the diesel content!
If you ever have to test again, move the valve to the bumper supply (and maybe tee off the gauge from the output side of the valve) so your hand is nowhere near the business end if it decides to blow off and at least then you can crouch out of the line of fire if it does pop off.
Love your videos. Some really good tips. Still looks like you've got a lot of exhaust smoke on some of the PHP settings. In Australia you would be a cop magnet with those sort of exhaust emissions. Given your outstanding electrical skills it would be fun to see your next rig have an electric drive train.

Might be a fun WeMos project to data-log your crankcase pressures... I've seen some people correlate pulses in crankcase pressure to see if they had a cylinder with bad rings.
Hey Jason, since your unable to hold 30 or 35 psi of boost and leaking through the rings, does that mean an ring replacement to resolve that problem ? Or do you think having a higher Pressure oil pump will help your problem or just help out to balance things. I have a feeling you already ordered one 😉. Glad you got something things resolved . Take care Jason and Kara
Experts have weighed in and confirm that the leak down I have now is about as good as you can expect... This engine was rebuilt before we built the truck, so it's got brand new rings in it already...
