Thanks for the fantastic presentation!
Can the self priming pump handle repeated on/off operation ( 10-15 times a day)? Would it make sense to install a check valve on the suction line?

Put a gate valve on your discharge. Close it to do your maintenance and when you open it, the discharge water will fill up the volute and prime the pump. You're gonna need a VFD for 8" and up.
