All the time in luffy vs kaidou battle, I felt that somehow kaidou was trying to confirm whether luffy is joyboy or not.. and in chapter 1049 i felt as if kaidou was pushing luffy to become powerful so that kaidou can be free as well. Somehow kaidou also wants freedom and he believes in luffy too.

I really like the idea that Kaido is like a walking "sword in the stone", standing as a wall to test people that approach his level and seeing if they're worthy or not. Even before these chapter indicating that Kaido is trying to be like a sort of test to see if someone is strong enough to be JoyBoy, I and many other people viewed Kaido as Luffy's biggest hurdle to becoming pirate king. The literal strongest creature alive and a massive wall of power that Luffy would have to overcome in order to accomplish his dream ends up viewing himself as a final barrier/test to see who is worthy of being JoyBoy is pretty cool and fitting
i also think this may have to do with the choice to start wano with the koi that climb the waterfall! by the end of the arc luffy will be evolved like a gyarados

The moment Luffy announced his dream was the moment Kaido lost. Luffy convicted Kaido by reflecting on Kaido his guilt.
When Kaido starved Wano for the sake of defeating the WG, he became the monster he accused the WG of being. Kaido knows what it means to go hungry. Because of Luffy, Kaido's distorted dream has been corrected. He has begun a new path. Luffy is Joyboy because he is the measure Kaido judged himself.
Any more fighting between Kaido and Luffy would be redundant and gratuitous because theme has been serviced. Oda made it a point to show CP0 escaping, this is likely the turning point in Wano where the raid is complete but Want must regroup to defend against the WG and possibly BB.

@@Staplegunner he let himself get captured so he could get food. And the strongest characters often come from weakest circumstances. Law, Doflamingo, Ace, etc. People inveil their true strength only when pushed to the brink and starvation is a brink like no other.

Kaido knew what hunger was like, but he was always able to fight for it and be guaranteed a next meal. He always had that strength, so it really tracks that he'd really adopt that survival of the fittest mindset: he never knew anything else and wouldn't understand weakness/sympathy like most people might. Others would value their loved ones and stick together because individual strength isn't an option to them, but Kaido...
That wasn't Oda, that was Eiji Aonuma, a lot of people make this mistake because for some reason it's one of the first results on Google.

when luffy shared his goal, it reminded me of the only couple of times we see luffy actually "suffer" a defeat. when he loses his crew, and when he loses ace. and what brings him out of his depression? the realization that he still has his crew. luffy has always deeply cared about his friends, and becoming pirate king comes second to them. he even said as much to sanji. "without you, i cant become the pirate king". its not that he "cant". its that he doesnt want to. even if he did, it would be meaningless without everyone there with him.
we also first saw this in enies lobby. he explained to blueno that the reason he developed gear second was so that he wont lose anyone anymore. this has been his dream for a while

Few chapters before they showed gum gum real name, they showed a fleet of marine ships coming to wano, I think Kaido will get back up and defend luffy from those ships.

I think, Yonko are Luffy dream representation, Kaido represent food, big mom represent race, Whitebeard represent family/friend, and shanks represent party/feast. which is means, The Biggest party in the world where u can eat as much as u want and u can find every race without any racism, and they all are like family.

Firstly, your English is very good. 'Feast' and 'food' (if Kaido is food) might be too similar really. And 'party' can't be an aspect of a party. I think Shanks is better described as the 'meeting or gathering place'. In all of Luffy's happy memories of Shanks when they partied in Luffy's village, it was always in the same place which is fittingly called the 'Party Bar'. The Straw Hats, Luffy particularly given what Oda revealed about his devil fruit & Nika, are the 'friendship & happiness' aspect of Luffy's true dream. Which makes sense given the number of friends they've made on their journey even in the most unlikely places and of enemies becoming allies. I don't think Shanks inspired Luffy to be a pirate but did consciously have a strong impact on Luffy as to the kind of person he wanted to be when he got bigger: someone will take anything but never lets anyone or anything hurt his friends. I think Shanks also unintentionally influenced what became Luffy's true dream in which becoming the Pirate King is just a steppingstone.

In my opinion this flashback was so good and was enough for me to flesh out Kaido's character properly if you ask me. First of all it presented why he is the way he is and his outlook on the world but not only that it also cleared up to misconception the fandom had on HOW he learned about Joy boy and WHY he chose Wano to begin with. The HOW is answered quite simply via Yamato and Oden and King and connecting what they had said together. The WHY is answered through Higurashi as she told Kaido that in order to reign supreme and create his world of violence Wano is the perfect place for that by having a large number of slaves as well as the resources and it being a closed off country to create a pirate paradise. Lastly the "Oni race" which is headcanoned pretty much by the fanbase is non-existent and Kaido was always just an oversized human who has horns either as an accessory or a genetic mutation, but it was never hinted that he was persecuted in his home country for being an Oni, not to mention him being from a country that's full of humans looool
Absolutely wrong, we still don't know about how he learned about joyboy. He mentioned that yamato uttered his name and he does not have any idea where she heard it. That implies he knew beforehand. Also why he came to wano, we only saw the old woman pitching some idea to him, so it's still unconfirmed if it was her that gave him the idea or just a plan on how to run the country. And keep in mind that for all we know, her agenda is purely revenge against wano.
I absolutely loved when it was revealed that kaido let himself be captured cause he was hungry. I laughed for hours after that 😂😂

Kaido literally decided if he ain’t the main attraction, he’ll be the bouncer and gatekeep the heck out of it.
This is also kind of analogous to how Oda drew the futures of the strawhats, the good and the bad timelines. Comparing that to Kaido and Big Mom when they were younger they were bright eyed and not "ugly", but going down their dark path which was similar to Luffy's, (until it wasn't) they became dark and "ugly". Comparing that to the straw hats, their good and bad timelines, they follow the pattern demonstrated by Big Mom and Kaido, attractive and bright eyed in the good storyline and, and "ugly" in the bad.

Kaido knew he wasnt Joyboy. He just was at his top to make sure the worthy opponent gets to the top. I dont think of it as a flaw. For Kaido it was war and a necessary precation to make sure Joy Boy comes alive. However luffy did free him from his waiting and his pain bc he didnt like his life at all. Thats why the drinking. Luffy frees him from that and will turn him to a friend in the fight that has to come after this.

Yeah i thought this character idea for Kaido was dumb. Strongest guy ever but doesnt use his strength to directly fight the people who ruined his life. i think it will be the marine admirals all showing up and that’s when oda will reveal the new admirals and their faces, he’s been keeping the identity of the new admirals hidden since dressrosa when we saw our first new admiral and got introduced to name of the other new admiral (that i forgot the name of), plus cp-0 was at onigashima and all were defeated except for lucci who got away and reported back to the marines, and this would also crest an opportunity to test luffys strength and will, after he learns about what happened to sabo
oda did something like this right after sabaody, and all the build up and character development smaller arcs u could say leading up to marine ford. i would expect oda to do something like that to lead up to something like black beard vs luffy or shanks vs luffy or my personal favorite another brother “saving” arc like marineford lol. but it’s just a theory tho:)

The reason why I believe this is the dream is because of how much Luffy appreciates food and how it should be treated. He would always dislike ppl who waste food and sometimes even beat them and whenever he is offered food he is always grateful to the person and considers them a friend another strong point is Wano...Wano is said to be the arc where Luffy surpasses many and gets closer to achieving his dream. In Wano we can see food shortage and wastage of food in places where they have it...He even ate the wasted food at the party and freeing n' saving Wano (his friend's country) is which is practically filled with hungry people and his dream is to create a world where his friends can eat how much ever they want for free.
another side note is remember ,that little girl who gave food to Luffy when she herself was starving and loved ace...Luffy promised her that he would let her eat as much as she wants after he beats kaido and sets the land of Wano free and obv he considers her friend and again a link to his supposed dream.

I really don't believe the "I want a world where all my friends can eat" is Luffy's true wish that he shares with Roger.
Rather, I believe he stated that as hunger and starvation are a main theme of Wano as a direct result of Kaido's actions.
The character that we have heard say that exact dream is Sabo.
I believe Luffy's dream encompasses the dreams of both Sabo and Ace.

I feel like “Rogers Will” is actually luffys will that he peeped into the future somehow and adopted this will. And when he said he wished he lived in the same era as joyboy, he wasn’t referring to the past but actually the future.

@@bernhardrois3399 I don't know if this is correct, but we knew that one piece's world is basically like a big plus (+) shape then what do you think will happen if the centre of the world gets destroyed? the four different seas will unite in the middle of the world and it might be created the new sea called all blue. In addition, the first thing that roger said to rayleigh in their first encounter was "do you wanna turn the world upside down with me?".

I don't think Kaido is down, neither is Big Mom. But I believe all Yonko are preparing the world for JoyBoy's arrival, in their own way. Thus, when Big Mom and Kaido gets back up from the hole they will legitimately recognise Luffy as JoyBoy and themselves retreat. To later reappear in the final war.

I think Luffy, mentioning the type of world he wants to live in, struck a chord with Kaido. Kaido was even willing to give up his freedom temporarily to steal the food from the WG at a young age. Kaido wasn't necessarily an evil person like Orochi wanting to hurt people. I think Kaido realizes even with his strength, he isn't strong enough to change the world he lives in, so he's going to be just as corrupt as the world lets him be if no one can stop him. It's also why Kaido probably wanted to die, or go to world war because he felt constrained by the world he exists in. Even with all of his strength, Kaido is still bounded by how the world works. Suddenly, Kaido one day hears of a prophecy that a man named Joyboy would be the one to set them free.
This doesn't mean Kaido decided to be the final boss to Joyboy. Kaido just wanted to see how strong Joyboy could be. If Kaido can't change the world with his own strength than what would Joyboy be like? I think that is why he is testing Luffy. It's not that Kaido decided to be the final test for Joyboy, it's just he wants to understand how Joyboy will be able to change the world. It's very fitting too because the symptoms of Luffy's dream shows that Luffy's dream even accommodates his enemies' dreams. Luffy just wants everyone to party.

Aren't the experiments obvious after Kaido was so strong even as a child and it looked like his body has special qualities, maybe there's something in common with Blackbeard, which also poses a mystery still.
And Joy Boy, he probably learned about it through The Rocks Pirates, which then set him on the path he's on now after they were defeated.

The revelation of luffy's possible true dream is so perfect that it also shows kaido's character. The story telling is really GODA tier.

I personally feel like Luffy answer to Kaido is a reference to the fact that Kaido was the cause for the people of Wano to be starving and Luffy wanted to point out to him that people should be able to eat whatever and whenever they want..
I seriously don't think that's Luffy real goal but it does play into Luffy theme of Freedom...

Nah, i dont think that he has revealed his dream so easily and early. I mean if oda wants to reveal luffy's dream which was also the dream of gol d Roger, he should also give some reference to Roger. They both share the same dream afterall. Here what luffy said was for his friends. And what he wants for his friends could be different from what he wants for himself.

Kaido's history and especially his final flashback clearly sets him up as Luffy's ally in the future. Whether that's now to escape the GW or to take down the Celestial Dragons. Luffy's gift is gaining unlikely allies, whether he accepts them or not.
Oda's creativity and the ability to forshadow every little detail is a cut above the rests
I don’t think what luffy said in 1049 is his dream, it reminds me of prior arcs where luffy yells out his promise he made to someone during said arc, I think this could be a part of his dream being having a party w the world or something but kaido didn’t ask his dream he asked what world he wants to make
what you touched on a little later, i feel like all that needed added to the whole "i want my friends to eat as much as they want" was i want my friends to have the freedom to eat as much as they want.
Kaido was not defeated because of Luffy's punch. He just realized that someone has shared the same goal, which is freedom. He iust realized that the joyboy king and kaido are waiting for, arrived on wano. Luffy, Bigmom and Kaido shared the same goal but they the approach are really different.

Fact that Kaidou want to take down Celestial raises even more questions about shanks.
Shanks stopped Kaidou from Marineford and he himself went there.
Again we see him show that he has ties with Elders.

I really think that the final blow will only happen exactly as the sun rises, in a spectacular representation of the "Dawn". Maybe we're still to see his awakened form, and Luffy will counter his last attack with the Sun behind him as his hair turns from white to a fire-ish yellow.

All Kaido asked is what kind of world he would make. Not his dream. I feel as though Oda would have been a bit more direct about it than this. Besides, what Luffy’s dream was is shocking to people and Kaido wasn’t shocked.
There is a panel where he looks a bit shocked, but I think its more a part of Luffys dream too.
Such a simplistic but meaningful wish for not just himself, but his friends. Just the type of selfless wish I see Luffy honestly wanting and being able to put his life on his line to achieve.

Are we certain that this is the dream luffy said to sabo and ace? I really feel like oda would have put in a flashback panel of him saying "im gonna..." to connect the two scenes if that was the dream luffy said way back then. I think it is definitely connected to his true dream, but to me it feels like there's still something we are missing.

Luffy literally already has Marco as an ally representing the Whitebeard crew, imagine Kaido and subsequently Kaido convince Big Mom to follow Joyboy, then the Straw Hat Pirates would be the next "Rocks Pirates" challenging the world nobles... and if Shanks truly is somewhat a side antagonist, then perhaps he would side himself with the world government representing the Gold Roger Pirates crew and we have another God Valley incident, but perhaps in Wano itself as the Marines are coming to Wano

My ultimate theory is Kaido is tired Kaido helps protect Luffy then Rally’s BM help against whoever the WG has hidden, by the end I think a fraction of BB crew will show up mainly Gecko Moria and geck will take advantage of a weak Kaido to take his shadow, and most likely I think Kaido will die a redeeming yet dishonorable death to Moria, giving us the fuel we want to hate Moria once again that sick twisted villain
I agree, food and class go hand in hand. It makes sen sense that in a world where class stratification is a core principle that a boy with his adopted siblings who fought for food everyday would wish for a world where they would eat without worry. Same with Roger. Food is more than freedom, it's both a lifeline for survival and at its highest point what brings us together and often feel alive. A complicated process boiled down to a simple good hearted main character.

I have always thought the Luffys goal is simply to live un-bound by restrictions & to make sure that the world he lives in does not restrict or inspire cruelty to others☀️That is also why he is my favorite character followed by Sanji with his values of never turning a blind eye to someone who is hungry🤝

I don't even need to see Kaido continue or even win the fight.. if he stands back up, is about to finish Luffy laying on the ground off with his thunder bague, no one else is there to keep on fighting and a few inches before he hits him falls to the ground again and admits it's a draw... that would make the fight so much more satisfactory
This brings me back to when luffy told sanji he can't become pirate king without him. He literally needs a good cook for the end game lol. But seriously the wings of the pirate king, a wondering ronin and the all blue chef. Freedom and food simple as that.
The fight was really good, kaido was damaged and is nerfed (fiery clouds consuming his stamina) while luffy got power ups. It really shows that kaido can still beat luffy if he's at his best state.
