My aunt bought this cd for me when I was 13 in 1997. Only heard Metallica on the radio before this and was immediately amazed at the sound this album had.
Enter Sandman, Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters, Whatever I May Roam, man what a masterpiece this album is. All the songs range from very good to perfect.
Nothing Else Matters was mine with my first serious boyfriend when I was 15. That was years after the album dropped, I was in elementary school, but we both were a little obsessed with Metallica back then. I miss those days! I seriously should have married that boy...maybe my older 2 kids wouldn't like rap so much and would be more like my baby (turned 12 today) and love metal and rock like their mama! Lol
No matter who's better, more skilled, more metal, or any related statements, this will always be the album that truly welcomed me to heavy music. I was 5 when it came out. These songs, the growling tone, the voice, darker lyrics, scared the piss out 5 year old me. It made the hair stand up, the heart race. I cant help that it's what I was first exposed to or that other bands didbt get the exposure people claim to deserve. For these reasons it will always be "The One", for me. The one that brought me to love music. The one that changed me forever. I dont care what other people say or think anymore. I will always love this. From there it only progressed to finding their older stuff and all else I could find that is out there to hear.
I heard this song in 1990 on MTV, in a comununist-free Romania. I was completely overwhelmed by the riff, the sound, the words. I found the piece almost scary, but still attractive, brutal, but still gracious. I'm into classical music now, but Metallica is stil in my soul and Janes Hatfield's voice is still hauting my ears. Long live Metallica!
I bought this album in secret in HS, and listened to it at the lowest possible volume. Eventually it was discovered and snapped in half. Adds to my enjoyment listening now, picturing my teen self rocking with me in rebellion. 😌😌

I'm a lifelong metal fan and I started out on Pantera, Slayer, At The Gates, Death, Killswitch Engage and skipped Metallica. Got into heavier stuff like old Gojira, Meshuggah, Suffocation, Vildhjarta, and Cattle Decap (also got really into hardcore/deathcore/tech death). I'm 27 now and just now giving Metallica a chance. The first 5 albums are all amazing, classic pillars of metal. Truly ahead of their time. I understand this song is WAY overplayed, but I just got stoned and downed a couple beers and really thinking about the composition. If most people had never heard this song before, they'd all have a catchy earworm stuck in their head. Again, never gave them a real chance until like 2 weeks ago, but this was one of the first metal songs I ever heard (only one I knew from them for quite awhile) and I remember being awestruck. It definitely played an integral part into my life long affair with metal and it's come full circle. Long winded as fuck but this band deserves every shred of love they get. Go watch Seattle Live '89 if you don't think so. Now my buzz is coming on strong and I feel compelled to spaz out to The Thing That Should Not Be in my living room.

People said this was their "sell out" album but I mean come on..good riffs, lyrics! Sell out just means they got to record on better equipment and actually get gnarler. It ain't ride the lightning but I'll take it.
Great song, album & band.
Metallica is the rage that runs in your veins it's always pump me up made me want to slam dance remember those days bashing in two people a lot of times there were fights but that was the whole f****** point. It was an Adrenaline Junkies Paradise
My favourite album of 1992 or 1993 and it still kicks ass in 2019
It even still kicks major ass in 2021!
Even 2022
Even 2023

I got stopped on the freeway the circles London, Uk
Cop; Sir do you know you were driving well over 110 miles /hr.
Me; My apologies officer I was listening to "Enter Sandman"
Cop: Let me clear the road for you. Great music shall not be denied!
When you get yourself riddled with bullets just for a chance to kill your boss, but somehow none hit him.
I want to light a match to your flag in the background of your profile picture.
@@aydansepulvado6540 No point in arguing truth to Post-Modern children brother. Their Marxist riddled education has unfortunately left them on the edifice of retardation personified, quite literally dude! Yes! I'm that guy who mixes lingo, like dude, with verbose even articulate words in my sentences. The downwards spiral of the average persons I.Q in this "modern" era is astonishing bro🤣 Anyway I digress. My original point in this my man is this....FUCK THESE LIBERAL WASTE OF HUMAN BEING LIFE FORMS! Their future is bleak ending in unequivocal misery.
But I'm busy with my second glass of whiskey, neat, and on the rocks. Perhaps it's one too many 😅😅
Cleo, don't let assholes like this get to you. Keep living your live exactly how you want to and keep being your true self 💞
My favorite metallica song I used to have bad nightmeres then I learned to control dreams now nightmares have me the last attempt of a nightmere was treated with a red light turning on and the voice of James eral Jones saying No! Behind heavy breathing
0:17 imagine Chris Farley doing his dance audition with his shirt off
For some reason I heavily relate to part where they say “heavy thoughts tonight, and they aren’t of Snow White, dreams of war, dreams of liars, dreams of dragons fire, and of things that will bite”
I used to hate this album - but I like it now - it grew on me. Hell, what people forget is that Metallica were already writing songs that were "slower" on the first three albums. Also, there are a couple "thrashier" songs on here, too - like "Holier Than Thou" and "Struggle Within."
Metallica Amazing group 👍👍👍
Yep

Stand user: Sandman
Stand: In A Silent Way
Risotto is the only one worthy of having a Metallica stand
His true name is SoundMan
Also "King Nothing" is a stand
@@sabranfauzan2158 actually there is a theory that soundman is actually alternate universe sandman replaced by D4C
Yeah amazing, but why i feel like something is moving through my veins..........O SHIT!!!
