This number... by itself, is just perfection... Moser is wonderful.

Waldemar's lied "Du wunderliche Tove" in this rendition is utterly magnificent (note that ethereal 'pianississimo' just after 1:58 after the words "zur Ruh"!!), and Moser truly here sings with authority as well as with the true baritonal quality of a genuine Heldentenor (though Ben Heppner for James Levine is even better!). ALAS, the following interlude is nowhere near its potential - Rattle races matters too much. Here I'll take Herbert Kegel's recording - THERE the buildup is shattering!!!!
