- Dame Whina told me her life story a year or so before she died in 1993.
It was a great privilege. A movie has recently been released dramatising her life so I thought you might like to see her speaking for herself.
How awe inspiring she was!! No matter what people may have thought of her she was one amazing woman.
Yes she certainly was.
Got so excited to see a new documentary! I love your work!
Thank you Manuela
What an awesome, great, old Lady 💯 thanks for sharing ❣️👍😎
Her eyes so full of life ❤️ and shiny ✨ ✨✨
I was a privilege to be able to record her life story
Thank you. What an incredible woman, and wonderful historical film footage. Almost a century of living as an visionary activist, through the most profound global events, but totally focused on the cause of justice for her people. Her determination must have been a non stop tornado to the male hierarchy, in her young/middle years. Of course, that becomes "stubbornness " as times change.
From Ireland, I was enthralled by this woman's story, and so much of her own voice. And visually, the close ups of her face as she speaks so passionately, are unforgettable, way beyond beauty. I love all your work that I've seen. This is one that will linger in my head in many ways. Oh, and the closing shot of her weaving reeds (I think), the centuries of generational practical life skills, brought me right back to her father, the hidden money in the reeds. Beautiful camera work, exquisitely intense and yet restrained too. Thank you.
Thanks you for your positive comments Marie

You're welcome. Thanks for your support
Excellent documentary! I found the recent feature film a bit of a hagiography, so it's interesting and refreshing to see Whina and her complicated legacy warts and all.
