Great work! Very interested in the fallbeil. I have some footage I took of the of The Maiden in Edinburgh. I'm sure you've heard of that early decapitation device. It's amazing it survived totally intact!
Probably you are surprised because you like most people remember pictures of french guillotines. French guillotines was higher but with lighter blade (40 kg)
In many societies and jurisdictions, only a qualified medical practitioner is allowed to issue a death certificate. I guess that even the Nazi's kept to that part of the red tape system. And yes, I have to agree with you on the survival rate: in all my musing and browsing I have read and heard of many execution methods that could be botched, yet not the fallbeil.
It says in the Video, that the death sentence was abolished in 1987 though it was already abolished in 1949 in the west of Germany. Only the communist east allowed it until 1987.
I'm Italian living & working in Singapore, I admire it's death penalty law. UN Amnesty International say that death penalty should be abolished worldwide because it's cruel, inhumane & doesn't stop future crimes, but even jails don't stop nor eliminate crimes & are also cruel & inhumane punishments , if they follow their logic they should demand governments to also abolish jails. Criminals are a menace & danger to us they deserve to be executed.
Vino, I had to sign in after reading your comment. I must say without a doubt, that what you wrote is quite possibly the dumbest, most childish, least thought out idea I have ever encountered. Hope all is well.
@@pingamalinga It is pretty dumb Singapore hangs drug traffickers yet everyone knows drugs are available in Singapore. The crime rate in Singapore is really low because its rich. Now the rotan, you could convince me in some circumstances that might work.
My main objection is that unlike a prison sentence, a death sentence can't be terminated after its application. Many have died before their innocence could be proven. Other than that, I agree with you. Besides, the term "inhumane" is such a vague, hollow phrase, ironically describing behaviour that seems to be endemic to human kind. It's these vague and subjective terms that are abused by the socio-liberal magistrates of supranational courts to deliver political verdicts, e.g. by banning true life sentences. They create what they should fight: injustice.

Very well constructed, fast, and the most terminal!
imagine how scary itd of been to turn around and see the curtain open to show that scary death device thats about to decapitate you
Very interesting and informative. Excellent video , feindish device !
Germany's time-honoured efficiency at work again, but what a gruesome device!
they really know their craft, don't they?

how could i forget?
I'd say the firing squad is the most simplistic and effective method of execution there is. Period.
I'm surprised to see how small it is. I wonder what war the weight of the blade, in order to compensate the shortness of its fall.
70kg
@@BornAgainCynic0086 Wow! Thanks.

Why was it necessary to have a doctor there? Not sure if anyone ever survived a beheading!

Don’t you mean cutting edge technology ?

Ric O’shea so is the Republican position in the US, where the practice persists to this day (albeit not by fallbeil).
The Guillotine in France was not banned until 1981, it was last used on the 10th September 1977.
Compared to other methods, this was very humane,
What's the music?
Lovely! Just lovely!
No jodas. A pesar de ser un modelo a escala, la caída del martinete fue capaz de hacer vibrar la cámara. Un modelo real debe ser terrible.
