Celebrities and influencers need more accountability for what they promote in general…
OMG… u hit it right on the nail. What do these celebrities know about half of these companies they promote. They get a check to sell and market things to us period.

Right. Using power, money, and status should not be the way celebrities and influencers get out duping people. They have access to more business knowledge than the avg middle class person and are more aware of the ins/outs of big businesses. Envy is a LIAR. Even if he didn’t invest into rental prop w/ his partner he still endorsed the business.
This is a prime example why we consumers should NOT jump to patronize companies and products based on “personalities” that we recognize. They are being based off of the consumer being gullible and/or naive.

DJ envy has REAL ESTATE experience and is COLLEGE EDUCATED. No way on God’s green earth that he wasn’t aware of the scamming. He was apart of it and felt that he was in a situation where he could put all blame on the other parties due to his status.

Envy and this guy worked together for 5 yrs, they had offices in the same building right beside one another, Envy promoted him on TBC, his social media etc. They were 100% business partners! Also why sue Tony The Closer but not the guy that owes you 500K allegedly? He told people at those seminars that he doesn’t trust anyone and that he always does his research before working with anyone. So U do all of that & didn’t know what Ceasar was up too? Man GTFOH! Envy knew what was going on and he was benefiting from it simple as that! He has to bear some responsibility and him saying idk what was going on it’s not going to cut it.
DJ Envy may have lost half a million but how much did he make prior to his loss? He was the face and folks invested because of his endorsement...and he was a partner in the business. Sorry he bares some responsibility.

The victims should all sue the corporation behind Breakfast Club, the scam was allowed to be broadcasted on their channel and they are the ones with the money. The victims are not corporations, the victims are hard working people who were trying to improve the life of their families.

If DJ Envy was in partnership, a business partnership with this man/friend as opposed to being a paid spokesman, he is just as much responsible or "on the hook" for any litigation against said company. Regardless to what DJ Envy claims, what matters is can the plaintiff prove he's an owner in the business. Which would be laid out in the articles of incorporation.

DJ envy wasn't just a face, he brought people to this man knowing fully well the man had not delivered on prior projects. If it was a one off where he pulled out after realising it was a sharm it would be different. In addition, he was also a partner. He is equally legally liable regardless of whether or not he actually knew where the money was going

I'm very careful about sharing investment options/vehicles/representatives with people/friends/family because it's all good until people start losing. Sometimes we have something working for us & want to share it when it's good, but you have to be careful.

Aspiring investors, at the least…
Contact a real estate attorney (to confirm contract is legal and desirable), title company (to confirm property is cleared to transfer), home inspection (is the property health and hazard free), appraisal (is the property worth the money).
You never give cash! When you cut corners, this is what you get. Folks that are willing to do the same.
FSBO (property sold by owners) will likely be these “flipper” gems and therefore, you could be on your own to figure out how to proceed.
A Realtor would help navigate this. But if you want to go at it alone..start with a real estate attorney in your local area.

Based on the suit it’s more on the lines of Caesar had a car for sale and DJ envy helped sell it by advertising and even offering test drives only for the buyer to find out said car doesn’t even exist bc it was never Caesar’s to sell. Based on the account of one of the complaints Envy and another associate took a potential investor on a tour of a property they claimed to be one of the projects in progress/slated to open. He’s gonna have to explain doing a tour of a site specifically for the purpose of gaining an investor if he’s now trying to claim he was only endorsing.
