I remember when church was like this. The praise wasn't based on a music lick, or break. They went 'straight in' at the top. It's so planned and orchestrated now. Thanks again for posting this.
I’m loving those sopranos! That’s when choirs had the operatic sopranos. You don’t hear them that much anymore. I know more are born into the world today. They need to be used too as well as bass and baritone voices too.
Girl in the choir playing the tambourine is a champ!! She playing through the whole song and only took 1 break. This is the kind of service that put an exclamation point to a long Sunday.
I'm proud to say I have some roots from Institutional as a minister and member here. But on songs like this after we got saved we would be tarrying at the altar for sanctification and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost I miss these days in holiness
my fave part was at 6:10,The lady with the tambourine to the right in the dark color. she was getting it on that tambourine. those tunable tambourines are heavy thoee. but I loved it. True Cogic Praise
Sean Nicholson Tune in to Greater Harvest in Chicago we have GREAT CHURCH tambourines washboard cowbells watch Stretch out choir has on white robes with purple overlays it will bless u
I agree we church like this in Chicago at Greater Harvest MB Church Where The Elder Eric Thomas is our Pastor look up STRETCH OUT WITH OUR CHOIR AND Donisha Ballard then other videos will follow be blessed. Our Pastor plays the wash board sometime n organ and key board
Great choir. I still have a couple of their LPs. Choirs are so different today. Cherish the moments. We will never hear this sound too much these days.
Ok, I just had a moment. I saw myself in the back wearing Green & Black dancing and Praising God with you all. I miss this so so so much. RIP Melvin Crispell
Truly these was the day's of Haggai chapter where it talk of the Former truly when the saints came together on one accord God moved no one had to coach and prime us to praise God nor get into the service when the power fell we sang dance and praise God I miss these days ♥️
I was never a member there but I loved visiting there and we would have CHURCH 😢😢😢😢😢😢😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😢😢😢😢THEY REMINDED ME OF MY CHURCH I MISS THESE DAYS GLORY TO GOD
Can someone write the words down for me cause I'm having a Lets Go back Service in June and this song right here 🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽 will take the saints back
what happened to this type of CHURCH... people in this era had such a love for God and wouldn't mind giving him praise..I believe this is when the church was sanctified and holy... this latter day church with all its antics and new age teaching has become spiritless and dead...
I think what many of you are constantly LAMENTING about..."what happened to this type of church" and so on, is that you miss the sense of community these churches gave you. All the huckabuckin' just added to the excitement of being together. LIke any African community would. However....God has not changed since the '70s.....or '80s.....perhaps many of us have actually matured in our perception and understanding of "God". Yeah...there are things that happen when in an emotion laden, indoctrinated congregation. However, I would much rather have a more mature understanding of spirituality than a lot of buckin'...
Welp, so much for you christians 1) The joy of the Lord being your strength 2) Everything that hath breath praising the Lord 3) Praise continually being in your mouth 4) Praising him with Timbrel and song 5) Mourning into dancing 6) Entering into his courts with thanksgiving and courts with praise etc, etc, etc, etc I say all of that to say, there is nothing wrong with this type of church - it is very biblical. The sense of community is biblical too - it's called fellowship. The first fellowships had such a strong sense of community that they gave up everything so that it could be evenly proportioned out for there brother and sisters. Another words, you can't be biblically spiritual without community and fellowship What is spiritually? It is a word that has been so philosophized that it has no more meaning. One thing is sure, spiritually is holistic - that includes emotions. It's not called excitement, it's called joy. You are supposed to give all in your worship and praise that means body, mind and soul and this includes emotions. There is nothing wrong with this kind of church and a condescending attitude towards it as though church has "evolved" is offensive to the body of christ, peter's rock and the history of church. By the way, I am not christian and a non-believer but there is much to be appreciated in this type of church and it should be missed.
For a non Christian, my friend, you nailed this rebuttal. Although I am of the new age church, this type of church is what I was born into and I get goose bumps every time I run across a video like this. What's funny is this...non Christians, including a close friend of mine, will respond to this kind of atmosphere before they would ever respond to today's church service.
I TRULY miss these small concentrated-power churches. The membership was family-like, and when God moved? Service was a wrap!!
Yup. That was like my home church in San Francisco... Faith Temple COGIC
"Store Front"

Well Jeremiah did say it's like fire and was it David that danced out of his clothes.
