Good for you homegirl. I have 11 years free and clear of c&d after 19 years of "partying" way too much and losing my sense of self. Yoga has been a major component in my recovery and has assisted substantially in grounding me and bringing me back to the real world. Your honesty is needed and refreshing. Stay beautiful, strong and grateful my friend.
You're so inspiring! I follow your yoga videos and just got sober 4 months ago. I'm in tears watching this video thank you for sharing your journey you are a really strong person. 💜
Vulnerability is the hardest thing for me because I’ve always fought against being controlled. Until I listened to Brene Brown I never realized that vulnerability is not being weak. It’s going brave.
Thank you for this Cole! I followed you years ago on TX yoga and fell in love with your style of teaching. I recently found your channel again and now I know why. What a gift you are giving by sharing, I needed this honesty today. Your higher self has found me and I thank you 😊
After several rehabs I was fortunate enough to get sober at the young age of 22....36 years later I’m still clean and sober with many other levels of recovery along the way...I still practice physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being and balance everyday...thank you so much Cole for all sharing and teachings...truly appreciate it...
“Stop leaving myself, stop abandoning myself” I’ve left myself so many times for alcohol and it’s been progressively harder to reconnect with that inner self every time to the point where I wonder if it’s even possible anymore. Thank you for sharing your insights. They all rang so true. We all fight our private battles and we all suffer the same.
Great story...stay strong and know that you are helping so many others out here! 17 years sober here and thankfully have a wonderful wife that I wanted to reunite with helped me to strive to do whatever it would take to get my life back so I could be the husband and man she needed, thankfully I was able to do that. Yoga is a wonderful way to control emotions and to stay balanced in the ever maddening world we live. My wife and I are big gans and we wish nothing but peace and happiness to you, Cole.
There is definitely a Spidey sense! Law of Attraction! Thank you for your service Cole, overdoses were atrocious in 2020 so your work is needed more than ever.
I've been through a lot of darkness & pain in my life physically, mentally, emotionally. I've known for a few months now that part of my "final" healing has to do with reestablishing connection with my body. I just happened to decide it was time to follow a yoga video instead of just doing a few exercises I remembered from the last time I picked out a video, and then I found this. I've had a bad weekend and your story really got me in my feels. We're in the same age group, which makes your story even more relatable for me. I'm still trying to get myself together but I feel like I saw this for a reason, right now, today. I've always felt soothed and comforted by your energy before on the TX channel and here again. Thank you for all that you do. ♥
Oh I'm so happy that this talk resonated. I'm glad you are having some realizations around what will bring you closer to wholeness....Yoga has certainly been a major major player in be reestablishing that relationship. Have you checked out my new program coming up? Emerge? It may be really helpful to support you in kicking this off! www.emergerecovery.com
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I've found so much comfort in your classes during quarantine. I'm not in recovery but so much of what you said resonates with me, as you said as part of the human condition. Keep inspiring others and doing the work you were meant to do.
Iam really happy about you ...i lke the way you talk , the way you moove when you teach , your sound when you speak is so smooth for yoga .I only wach your videos !! Many greetings from Greece ....keep on moovin ....
OMG, The thing that makes us most isolated brings us together...it is a cosmic paradox....the minute I posted about my alcohol struggle, others came to me. and when I feel tempted to drink or even relapse, I watch your videos.
Cole in the last 4 years you helped me so much. I didn't know your story- thank you for talking about it! So happy that you got to Yoga and passing it to us. I got MS 4 years ago and doing yoga with you - every day makes me better.
Congratulations on six years of sobriety! Thank you for sharing your story. You’re my favorite yoga instructor on RUclips. I use your videos several times per week. I started doing yoga after I was diagnosed with MS. (I use diet too, no drugs, no neurologist, went to a naturopathic doctor.) Your videos have helped me very much. If you still want the meme of the dog in the house on fire saying, “This is fine”, then you can google it and look under images. 😀
Your testimony is very inspiring! Praise God for your recovery! I am a new subscriber to you and your yoga videos have helped me so much! I am 63 and I do the best I can to follow you, but even when there are poses that I can't do, just doing the ones I can have helped me so much!
Love to you, Cole! My hopes are to someday become a yoga teacher so I may help people heal trauma. You have been one of my inspirations and you are a beautiful role model.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I relapsed the last few days and have had horrible anxiety today and just hearing your story and voice really calmed me down. Ill be going to a sober living house and your video helped make me less nervous about that. The longest I've ever been sober was almost 5 months so I hope to make it 6 months and even longer. Thanks again, Have a good day !
Hey Jesse! How are you feeling now? I've been in many sober living houses and they can really provide a lot of safety. I hope it's going well! You've got this
Can’t thank you enough for your courage. Yoga has also been a lifeline for me. I do it daily now and every single time I feel better than when I first get on the matt
Cole, thank you SO much for sharing this! You are so human, and so real, and I think that resonates through this practice. I needed to find your page this year. Thank you thank you thank you for bringing such grace and love to your teaching through yoga. 🙌🙏🙏🙏🙌
You are an inspiration. I am grateful I found you! Your practise is something I have cherished everyday during this pandemic. It helped me a lot. Thank you! X
I never had addiction but still I want to share something. about 5 years ago I start to had panic attacks, I wasn’t able to manage it and suddenly took completely control of my life. I remember once I really thought that I had forgotten how to breathe and I was sure that I was about to die. and then after a late night panic attack I started looking on you tube for something that would help me...so I found you. practicing with you I started to feel better again I just wanted to thank you 🙏
I love this thanks for posting this. I was 6 months sober a few days, I started doing your yoga videos maybe 1 month ago and only discovered now that you also chose the path of sobriety! That makes me hopeful and optimistic for the future ❤🙏 Namaste
Thanks so much Cole. I've just done a home detox from methadone after nearly 30 years of addiction to heroin, crack, benzos and basically anything I could get my hands on. So much of what you said resonates with me. Blessed to be on this journey 🙏❤️🙏
Thank you for sharing your amazing recovery journey. Yoga has also been an anchor point for me to reconnect with my body and become more aware of how my lifestyle in the past was self harming. I did become a bit addicted to hot yoga for the first few years of my yoga journey and it was my first yin class that brought out that ugly cry in me too. Been following you since yoga tx. Love your spirit and yoga sequencing talents! Namaste from Canada
Thanks for sharing. And thank you for your yoga classes. I've discovered yoga 2 months ago and I helps me a lot: years of struggling with anxiety and pain/neck pain have improved so much in just a few weeks. And I owe you that, I'm taking one of your yoga class every single day. I've felt empowered with your inner peace and strength from the first vid! I'm proud of you, and you participate in me being proud of myself. Namaste!
Thanks for this awesome video Cole. As you said, I didn't know you were in recovery but something resonated so much in me. I've been following your practice for this whole year and it has helped me a lot with my back problems, now it is helping me discovering a new relationship with myself. Thank you.
Thanks Cole. Thanks for sharing your experiences. It makes such a difference somehow? Ive had similar experiences. Yoga for me is one of the most beautiful things in my life. I find that its like a spring clean of my subconscious mind when im at my best. Hugs & love to you. Will you be coming to Melbourne at all??.
I thought I was done with addiction when I gave up smoking after 40 years in 2015. Alas, I soon found out that the urge to overeat had been there even before that. Took me years to realise that no change of eating habits will help in the long term, it is only self-love which will help me to take decisions about food that truly nourish me. Without yoga I wouldn‘t have discovered any of this. Thank you for sharing and sharing your lovely yoga practice.
I was wondering, to anyone who was struggling with drug and alcohol abuse (sometimes mixing in a large amount) after sobriety does your cognitive function (like memory, organization, learning and coordination) comes back I’m worried it will always be that messy and I won’t be able to learn the things I love.
In my experience yes! And overall, the brain and body take a hot minute to heal - we put them through a TON. We’ve got to calibrate & learn new baselines on all the levels. Be patient, such good things coming 🌺
Just discovered this video and decided to subscribe to your RUclips channel, and Instagram too ( inspirethosearoundme2244) is mine , congrats with being sober, We are much more then our struggles , I have never struggled with substance abuse or alcohol addiction, eating disorder is what I struggled with, I had family members who struggled with addiction, my aunt and dad ( unfortunately there no longer on this earth) aunt passed away this February 2020 💛🙏✨ Danielle namaste
