    I swear by Hood Jeans for the motorcycle. They are AAA rated. They do jeans for both men and women. They are cut to your leg length as part of the price. They last a veeeery long time - mine are over 6 years old. They are my daily wear (even in the office) and have done about 50,000 miles. The K7/AAA (S) Jean has D3O T5 X Hip and Knee armour as standard. They are comfortable in UK weather though, like all aramid (kevlar), the aramid lining can start to feel a bit hard over about 30°C (wear wicking leggings for hot days). They are really nice people to deal with. They are an English company.
    As to helmets, I've had: Bell, AGV, Nolan, Schuberth and Shoei. By far and away the best is the Schuberth - really comfortable for all day riding and way, way quieter than any of the others. I can put it on and take it off while wearing my glasses. You can still get a new C3 Pro for sensible money.

      Another Hood jeans wearer here, been buying them for numerous years after my first pair of riding jeans were an uncomfortable pair of Draggin Jeans. Hood jeans far more substantial and comfortable to wear.

    That’s a good price for Shoei or Shark helmets , bought a pair of men’s Oxford jeans because the other pairs I own are double skin with Kevlar weigh a ton uncomfortable boiling hot even in winter . The oxfords are thinner lighter the only thing is the knee armour pocket could do with being higher . I reckon all these bike jeans are just a gesture anyway , maybe save the odd cuts & bruises if the rider comes off at best . It’s still going to hurt if we come off ,it’s a risk we all take as bikers, I feel more alive riding a motorcycle than not riding one so for me it’s worth the risk . Hope you get sorted for a new lid soon 👍

    • @bikesandbrushes
      @bikesandbrushes  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it's definitely a risk but the kevlar in the jeans is just coming apart on the smallest of slides which by the advertising literature it shouldn't.. anyway its definitely a no from me but great we can make our own choices 😀

      @@bikesandbrushes I have yet to wear them they weren’t exactly cheap either. I tend to find Oxford stuff a bit hit & miss some like their soft luggage not bad ,but some of their other products total sh💩t . I reckon they are trying to diversify into too many products ,instead of them concentrating on improving what stuff they have had knocked up already . Hopefully I will find some better quality motorcycle jeans , I don’t begrudge paying more bunce for good quality ,if it’s worth it to me . 👍

    Hi, as riderramblings has mentioned, another important aspect of buying a new lid is wind noise at speed. Good idea is to see if there are any reviews of the model you like. I have an Arai shaped head and have no problems with wind noise or glasses, but I do go for the strait arm ones for when riding. Good luck with it.

    Everyday is a school day. I never knew helmets were different for those that wear glasses. makes sense when you see it. I changed to contact lenses because of the steaming up issue i got in the winter. I guess the Glasses thing is for full face only and wont affect those that wear flip helmets. I ask because my better half prefers the flip and she wears glasses but she has never mentioned issues with the helmet and her glasses.

    Hi Faye as a female rider, I have a few pairs of motorcycle trousers. MotoGirl Lara Cargo trousers are really comfortable on and off the bike but are only A rated, bullet jeans that I only use on trips to shops, Alpinestars jeans I don’t know the rating and some Alpinestars gortex trousers for winter. I put D30 Ghost amour which is level 2 in all my trousers. I don’t want to test how well any of them work 😊
    Good to see you out on your bike. Do not worry at all about how you’re riding or cornering because if you keep riding, you will naturally get faster and corner quicker, and doing it at your own pace is key to that. As they say ride your own ride. Plus you can look back at how much you have already improved as it’s on RUclips 😅

    • @bikesandbrushes
      @bikesandbrushes  5 месяцев назад

      I know what as you know I'm very new to all this so learning as i go , i do have Shaun helping but who'd of thought a brand like Oxford would be so poor , bet there is literally thousands of people especially new riders like me who rely on Oxford for safety

    • @ozzyprogdomino8815
      @ozzyprogdomino8815 5 месяцев назад

      @@bikesandbrushes I had a few Oxford items but it was 25 years ago when there was little or no riding gear for women. Back then I don’t think things were very good at all. But as you say Oxford now should be a trusted brand, I know they are one of the cheaper brands (still no cheap) but they should have a duty of care to make their products meet a high level of protection. They may not be as soft, or fit as well, or look as nice as the expensive brands but the protection they provide should not be a compromise. So you are correct to call them out.
      I think you are a fantastic rider already, you ride safely and you will only get better.

    It's ok getting the helmet where your specs will fit, but what about breath blowback from the face cover? I have a hell of a job with it even wearing an open-face and a buff over my nose, mouth & neck....condensation always occurs on my glasses even though I use over-glasses goggles. Surely it's worse on a closed helmet? I'm thinking of maybe moving to disposable contacts instead.

    • @bikesandbrushes
      @bikesandbrushes  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I've tried disposable contacts but just didn't get on with them , got some great stuff from specsavers to stop them steaming and seems to work much better than some of the bike brands it's just remembering to apply it 😆

    My old helmet was well past renewing bur struggling to find a modular to fit but eventually narrowed it to a SHARK Evo one they had in J&S but it was ex display and I wasnt prepared to pay 300 notes so left it until last Tuesday and got it a bit cheaper only to get it home and started to fit my Comms only to find a screw missing from the visor/chin guard mechanism.....so back over there today to have it fixed. As long as they are not ridiculously overpriced I would rather buy from a shop than online, 1. in case anything goes wrong...like it has and 2. if we keep buying online there will be no shops to try and look at gear.
