p.s. Po's dad is the goat, and I won't take any criticism
I thought he was a goose not a goat...
Jk lol! 😂
I knew somebody would comment that 😂
His dad is still alive , and he is a panda..... U saw him in the last part
@@SophieLents pls react to kung fu panda 3
i get it but for those who are adopted and know nothing of why they are its extremely hard to deal with the feeling of unknowing about yourself etc
Dad didn’t say ‘ugly’ he said ‘hungry little panda’. I love his dad, so funny.
Oohhhhh, it makes perfect sense 😅
His dad is such a sweetheart!
Madame, how dare you think he would talk about his son like that
@@jonmercano1138 she actually scared because i kinda heard the same and she made me think he really said that
His fake dad lol but yea UGLY PANDA nope HUNGRY PANDA
Lord Shen is definitely the best villain in the trilogy.
He is. Gary Oldman does a magnificent job bringing him to life.
definitely
He is the only villain who did not have a shameful and hilarious face while fighting Po unlike Tai Long and Kai. Po literally sit on Tai Long defeat him effortlessly and Kai is smash in rocks multiple times Lord Shen saves his pride and glory🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Yes!
I agree
Three random fun facts: Oogway said in Kung Fu Panda that One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it which not only applied to Shifu but also applied to Shen
2) Notice how at the end Po wasn't the one that killed Shen. Shen killed himself thus meaning that the prediction of Shen defeated by a warrior of Black and White could mean Shen cause he is a black and white peacock
3) It was confirmed by the directors of Kung Fu Panda 2 that Shen had a lot of regret for what he did but didn't go back because he was already too far gone and when Po and Shen were fighting. He was cutting off the ropes on purpose and was further proven when after the thing was falling Po started running to escape and Shen could have done too but he didn't even try and stood there, closed his eyes and accepted his fate.
Damn Shen's character was more deeper than it looks
Such details prove that this movie is outstanding
I’m just realizing about Shen’s death after years of watching this and that shocks me.
I understood Shen here too. Not much respect in changing your way. Specially, that one.
To be fair, you cant just say sorry after genocide and be a better person
@@giuseppe9653 you can actually. It would be really useless but you could do it. There was a serial killer who did it even :u
Tai Lung may be very badass, but Shen is just my cup of tea villain. Him as a peacock does suit him well too because peacocks are majestic looking creatures (Shen was a prince until he got banished) and Gary Oldman was the cherry on top. I love his character a lot, a complex guy.
The next villain is okay, but im not sure how you'll like him or something. The third movie for me didnt really top the second, but it's still decent.
Yeah the 2nd is the best one
@@zeeo3147 oooh, naming a best Kung Fu Panda movie is impossible for me. can't be done!
3rd movie has AMAZING villain theme song tho! Even if Shen is the most cunning of the three XD
@@notbubblystarters05 Ikr the theme song is "you son of a stepfather, you son of a I'm so sorry"
@@notbubblystarters05 I prefer Shen’s theme, actually! It really sounds like you’re marching into war, but it’s also sorrowful. It’s also very intimidating...
The emotions in this movie were unbelievable. When Po's mom sacrifices herself. When Po finds inner peace seeing his childhoold. When he hugs his dad at the end. Heck even Shen had his emotional moments. You can tell he was a very conflicted and messed up bird. "The dead live in the past.." That whole scene. Just wow what a movie. Easily the best of the 3
14:25
In this scene, Jack Black (Po) and Gary Oldman (Shen) were ACTUALLY in the same booth, bouncing off eachother!
Legends!!
I love master croc was voiced by a real Kung Fu legend jean Claude van Damme
Love the choice for Gary oldman as the peacock 🦚
😂😂😂
9:23
I love Tigress’ reaction, because she’s like “You’re stupid, but I want to be supportive, so…”
Literally 😂
The interesting part is Shen trying to run from his destiny for his whole life ….but in the last second, instead of running he closed his eye and accepted the death…..basically he did all of that to himself. Best villain👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Agree, he prefer die by his own instead of being killed by poo, best villain of all the franchise
Tai Lung was better in my opinion.
I actually never questioned the biology between po and his dad's relationship. I knew they were diff species but he was just his dad, I never bothered to think deeper than that.
That shows how he truly was Po's father 🥺
You commented this too in a different reaction videos xD i guess we all watch kungfu panda reaction over and over ahahhaha... And yes me too! I never questioned it too until the second movie mentioned it haha
@@adaninurs *wheezes* I've been caught!!!!
Kinda weird how you could miss something that obvious.
@@Birrrrra for me, maybe because I was too young when I watched it, and it's an animation too... So I didnt think twice.__.
"You can't trick me, there's a third movie! He's not dead!"
I don't know why, but I spit my drink when I heard you say that! Caught me off guard lol
9:19 fun fact: that was Angelina's favorite line in the entire series, because after she recorded it, she had to take 5 minutes to calm down because she couldn't stop laughing.
Gary Oldman is amazing.
Sirius Black. Dracula, Commissioner Gordon, George Smiley, Winston Churchill.
He literally disappears into his roles.
Oh, and I love:
"You can't trick me, there's a third movie."
He’s so talented!
He is there as the main guy in these historic sequence...what a legend
Let's not forget his performance in Leon the professional.
One of his best is " the Fifth Element" ! You wouldn't know it was him if you didn't see his name in the credits. Maybe Sophie Lents will get around to reviewing it. It's one of my favorite movies with Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, Chris Tucker, and Ian Holm. Science/Fantasy/comedy.
You forgot the best one: Jean-Baptiste Emanuel ZORG
Kung Fu panda 2 is the best in the trilogy in my opinion ! Po trying to find inner peace, discovering he was adapted and finally defeating Lord Shen was awesome to see ! I can't wait for Kung fu panda 3 !
I couldn’t have phrased it better myself!
@@SophieLents You'll definitely love the 3rd one too. It's also amazing.
During the self-aware hero's monologue at the end, right before Po started his speech, Shen said "stinking Panda," not "stinky." In this context, it's just a child-safe way of saying the f-word.
The Chinese did in fact invent fireworks, though I don't think peacocks were involved. lol
The look on Tigress' face when she sees him on that roof, and the way she says "Po ...?" always freaking wrecks me. They really love each other that much, and I *cannot* handle it.
The dynamic of Po and Mr. Ping almost brings me to tears whenever they appear on screen together and I'm a dude. That's how beautiful the relationship between father and son is illustrated throughout the trilogy.
I think this is one of the most underrated sequels of all time. One of the most underrated animations of all time. Every re-watch, I love and respect it more.
yes, people are saying wow toy story 3 is great, while they don't see masterpieces like this
Po has wayyyy too much faith in Crane bruh 😂 "Wings of Justice!"
Literally
He tries to kill himself many times a day jumping from things but Crane always saves him
Man, I remember in the bonus scenes that they were supposed to explain that Shen's parents abused him as a child, but they cut it out since it was too dark. Definitely would explain why his personality ended up being so twisted.
100% the best Kung fu Panda movie and one of the best Dream Work’s movie, it’s literally perfect. Shen is absolutely one of the greatest movie villains of all time and the fact his voice actor is Garry Oldman is top, honestly I like these type of villains more (elegant, badass, smart yet deadly). I really wish this movie came out in last few years becose even tho I loved it since I saw it in the cinema as a kid, I really didn’t get the deep meaning, still great reaction.
The idea to have 2 scenes with po at the prison , one being full of hope and the other of despair on a floor with a yin and yang markings is such a clever touch. You can see the symbol when tigress throws po in the sir during the second interaction.
I have to say I love so much the inner peace scene, and the water drop just represents it perfectly, because to find inner peace, you have to embrace what troubles you, let it flow and finally let it go
Can I take a moment to say that Gary Oldman is always a win. His delivery of some of Shen's lines are masterful.
"hmmmmmm I think im in love with an animated goose" is the best comment I have ever heard
Awesome reaction, left me throughly impressed by the in-depth analysis of the characters as well as the edit quality!
Thank you so much!
14:30 YESSS FINALLY SOMEONE POSTS THEIR REACTION TO THIS SCENE
Kong fu panda has two short: Secrets of the Furious Five and Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters. They are very cool.
I’ll be sure to check them out
@@SophieLents
No spoilers, but when you watch Secrets of the Furious Five, remember this quote from Tigress.
“The hardcore can’t understand”- Po
*Hugs Po*
“The hardcore do understand”- Tigress
You know it’s a good animated film when the topic of genocide is brought up lol
The fact Po still tried to change him and dosent feel any rage is amazing!
Hes truly equal to Oogway.
The ironic thing is, 'the Grim' in Harry Potter was about the black dog. Who was played by Gary Oldman. :O
I may not have experience with being abandoned by my parents, but I've had experience having someone I considered a good friend suddenly stop talking to me. And as someone with anxiety, this raises many questions like: Are they okay? Did something bad happened to them? Do they need help? Should I try figuring out? Or would I be bothering them? Am I worrying too much? But if they're okay, why did they leave? Were they too busy? Was it me? Did I do something wrong? Are they mad at me? Was I bad to them? Did they not like me? Etc.
Having all of these questions and zero answers can really eat someone on the inside. And this is just with a friend, now imagine how Po must be feeling knowing his real parents left him. His anxiety levels must be through the roof.
Fun fact: Lord Shen's feathers and robe are all white because (in classic Chinese opera) the white color represent death and is often the color that the villain wear.
6:52 Yes they likely knew Shen from his childhood. (Note thsi scene was cut but still remains canon) Shen was born sickly and many tod his parent his possibly for survival was little. They thus became ashamed. They also disliked him because of his color. Shen is Luesitic which is almost like albinism but the pupils don’t become red. They wanted him to be Blue and green. They neglected him. The soothsayer was left to take of him and is why they seem a little close. Would also explain Shen sparing her. As she in his eyes was the only true parental figure. Anyways extra information. (This is only my head canon, there could be a real explaination but I don’t currently know it if there is) As Shen is Royalty Master rhino could have been around to protect him and his family (this is ancient China after all, some would definitely try to kill Shen as a child or his parents.)[Rhino May have also trained Shen a little bit of Martial Arts but idk.)
Shen. While I’m not gonna lie his actions were wrong and misguided. Shen was only expirementing with fireworks to develop a new from of weaponry for defense against another country if one does invade. His dumb parents immediately saw to it that he was being evil so they asked the soothsayer for the fortune. Shen wasn’t meant to hear it. Shen massacred the pandas as a reaction. He did it to defend himself and his families blood line.
Sorry for that long comment just wanted to tell you that yes they all knew of each other wether my head canon for master rhino is true or not.
Can I ask?
Where do you get this information?
@@solarpolariod6688 I have heard this multiple times from many people as well as heard it with someone with a contact within dreamworks.
i find it so funny how po is surrounded by the ocean and still decides to put the hand on fire in his mouth💀💀
The story of the peacock. "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it."
Love Po backstory so much and lesson from it
The joke about "I'm Po, and I'm gonna need a hat" works in French lol, "Je suis Po, et il va me falloir un chaPo (Chapeau = hat)
Oh, yeah, it does work 😂
Glad to see I'm not the only one obsessed with Mr. Ping
Watching your commentary for Toy Story & Kung Fu Panda, you seem like such a loyal person.. you're awesome Sophie!!
Thank you! It’s very nice of you to say :)
8:00 Let's be real, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 stole the "he may be your father, but he ain't your daddy" from this scene.
17:48 the reason why im so tempted to see u react to the Kung Fu Panda movies. It has EVERYTH like u mentioned. N everyth was perfectly balanced like u mentioned too. They know when n where to include the necessary(comedy, emotion n action) n they also nvr failed to include awesome lines/quotes like the "You stay in your prison of fear with bars made of hopelessness. And all you get are three square meals a day of shame! With despair for dessert." GOOSEBUMPS!😱 Tai Lung is my favourite antagonist n Lord Shen is my dad's favourite antagonist😊 this is even his favourite Kung Fu Panda movie! We LOVE the fighting sequences! Especially when Po found his inner peace! It's funny n EPIC at the same time! This movie is simply AMAZING! Mr Ping won the movie's BEST DAD AWARD n the viewers hearts!❤ THNK U so so MUCH as ALWAYS for ur AWESOME reactions, commentaries, editings n ur adorable laughters Ms Sophie!🤗❤ SKADOOSH!🎆
I adored every second of this movie! I think I liked Shen more as an antagonist because he was voiced by Gary Oldman, and he did a phenomenal job!
Thank you as usual for watching and commenting ❤️
Shen said “how many times do I have to kill the same *stinking* not “stinky” panda.” By the way awesome reaction 💖
Sophie: “How can this movie get any darker than the first?!”
Lord Shen: **commits genocide in the first two minutes of the movie**
Why do i cry everytime I watch shen accept his death, like he knew that was the only way for him to achieve peace? You already made me cry my eyes out at the flashback scene how dare you make me do that again movie
Teamwork makes the Dreamwork and Dreamworks makes the movie we’re watching, fair trade👍🏾
I don't think I ever noticed Po's dad is making tofu now because that was his dream from the last movie, that's so sweet! :'3
Teamwork makes the ©️ Dreamworks
17:21 Not by "remembering the horrors of his childhood". Po pulls off inner peace when he "lets it flow". He lets his memories flow, and he lets the raindrop flow. He finally manages to *master* inner peace by finding *peace* with his past, and who he is, thus becoming capable of tossing cannon balls away
22:28 Yes. And don't worry though Ping is scared of losing PO at first, the two don't fight.
“Teamwork makes the dreamwork”
Oh because it’s made by-I see what you did there.
17:22 "Some find inner peace through suffering", so yes :'D
10:31 That's some Max Payne 3 level of stealth right here
I think they were ruling THEN helped the city prosper by inventing fireworks granting happiness to the city
This one is my fav in the trilogy
I can totally see why!
Funny thing, you quoted Harry Pottet and The Prisoner of Azkaban, when Lord Shen is voiced by Gary Oldman (Sirius Black)😂
This is amazing ❤ I love seeing you appreciate this movie
17:23 Come on Po let's find our inner "piss" 😂
One of the best trilogy's in cinema history :)
5:57 haha he said hungry, Sophie haha. Mr ping is far too nice to insult his own son like that. Love the reactions btw!
The people who suffer the most are rewarded by the good of there heart
Shifu finally learns Inner Peace
I really like this movie, even more than the first on a technical level, the humor an action land a little better i think.
The only part i'm not so sure is the message, i don't know if I really grasp it.
For what I understood is about Inner Peace is the step beyond what the other movie talked about. If first you need to accept yourself for what you are, the step beyond that is accept everything for what it is.
But I'm not sure if it is this, because if it is, I think they were too subtle about it.
I can see guiding the droplet as being a visual metaphor to letting the world flow through you. And guiding the firework-cannonball as letting Shen's Anger destroy himself. At the same time Shen represents the opposite, he wanted to rule all of China, he wanted to control, and when confronted with a prophecy he choose to go against it. The theme of family is also tied to that, because Po kept thinking about what could have been, instead of appreciating what it was.
In a way Po and Shen are also opposites in this sense, since Po couldn't accept his past, and Shen couldn't accept his future. The difference being that Po learned how to just accept what it is.
My foundation is shaky since I'm no expert in spirituality and Chinese Philosophy, but that's my interpretation.
I think the message is about choice, you don't have to be chained by your past, your past doesn't matter. What truly matters is whom you choose to be now
Like I said in your last reaction Kung fu 🐼 was my favorite of the trilogy and now you will see why 😁😄
Yeah, I loved it!
@@SophieLents that’s great!!!!! Skidouche!!!!
Cool how when Po deflects the cannon balls, they go from red to gold.
To me Kung Fu Panda is the best trilogy in DreamWorks like Madagascar literally embodies DreamWorks type of humor meanwhile How To Train Your Dragon having a serious tone with it turns boys into men then Shrek which kinda combines both the franchise’s but loses it’s magic with the third and fourth films but Kung Fu Panda combines the humor and seriousness while giving us life lessons like believing in your self despite what society tells you or to let go of the past because it just doesn’t matter or don’t try so hard to be someone you’re not when you can be the best you you can be. Can’t wait for the fourth 😌
I really enjoy ur reactions and the way u break down how u feel about wat ur watching
" It's like Twitter without DRAMA! "
I'm Subscribed! 😂
Welcome to my channel 😂
When I watched the movie Shen became almost an instant favorite XD
I had a McDonals Shen toy :p
Kung Fu Panda 2 is my favourite of the trilogy and I love Shen. (Also Tigress and Viper, but...)
Make a reaction to Kung Fu Panda The Secret of The Furious Five! It's about the Furious Five's backstory.
Love that a real Kung Fu legend voiced master croc jean Claude van Damme and Jackie Chan played master monkey.
It did break my heart the first time when Po found out he was adopted and was hesitant to say right to Ping. But then as I get older, I see it as an opportunity.
See, Po just found out his dad, isn't his real dad! And now, he has to save China from some peacock! He has a lot to process and on top of that, he wants to know more, like, if his actually parents or parent are/is alive! I mean, no matter how much you deeply love a family that isn't yours but you didn't know, some people just want to know more and find more and I like that that message was in the movie for Po
Even the beginning is dark as hell.
Turning beautiful things into weapons of mass destruction.
I think Shen not wanting to change when Po said he had the freedom to was very accurate to his character. Change is scary, and revenge was his whole purpose in life. He would have to stand up and re-evaluate his whole sense of self in order to change, and to him he would rather accept what fate has dealt him than try to loose his sense of self. This is what made Zuko from ATLA such a compelling character, he came from a broken place and truly wanted to be a good person but had to learn how. He went through times of success in changing and he had pitfalls where he learned to accept help/develop trust. What didn't change is his drive to become better and therefore sculpting his sense of self.
Why am I back here? 😫 The reactions are too good.
❤️❤️
A masterpiece of a film. Excited for you to see the third
HOW HAVE YOU NOT WATCHED THIS MASTAPIECE?!?!
"awww i think im in love with an animated goose..." i laughed then felt bad for laughing
After Panda 3 I would love to see your reaction to the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy. I have been enjoying your content.
Thank you!
*Twitter without drama* yeah i really felt that
10:04 they explained it in the very beginning. How did you miss it
5:57 He didn't say "ugly" he said "hungry".
Shen changes the fortune he didn't die in Po's hand but he accepted his death by his own
When they said that Shen gona be destroyed by soldier of black and white, it didint mean Po, it meaned Shen. Po was trying to save him, but he was too deep in the darkness so he resist and was killed by he's own creation
I like to think that Shen let the soothsayer go because he was too far down a dangerous path and didn't want her to get hurt, after she appealed to his softer side talking about his parents. There's a moment in their last conversation where you can see Shen's face shift from pain into hardened resolve mid sentence.
In the first movie when you called Shifu a panda a lot, a red panda is actually a type of Fox, the name red panda is just a nickname for the species
*Tigress: I can not watch my friend be killed.*
Po: (Five seconds later.) So, uh, I'm going out with a bang but, like, literally. Wanna watch?
In case no one relised yet all 3 movies go into a rhythm 1physical 2 mental 3 spiritual
I really love shen~ he is my favorite villain from all of kung fu panda series
The next movie in the trilogy closes some loops and explains why Po is the Dragon Warrior (Remember in the first movie when Master Ooguay says "how interesting"?), but this one is my favorite.
lord shen is my favorite charater from kung fu panda
10:05 well yes...is what the intro of the movie told you.
Kai : The Baddass
Shen : The Villain
Tai Lung : The Meme
I guess that torture grow ur patience level😅
“I’m assuming the warrior of black and white is po right?”
My favourite interpretation of this prophecy is that Shen defeated himself by seeking to change the world before changing himself and his ways. If he had decided not to use fireworks as weapons and not slaughtered all the pandas po never would’ve defeated him. So you could say his defeat, his downfall, was of his own making
I don't know how I came here and I didn't even know I need it, but I just loved this vid.
She thought his dad called him ugly when he actually said hungry😂😂 and then she thought Shen called him stinky when he actually said “stinking panda” which is more of a replacement curse word for same “damn panda”
Or “fucking panda” shens not actually calling him stinky😂😂 I don’t know if English is her first language though, that could be why, just thought it was funny lol
Team work make the dreamworks, and dreamworks make kung fu panda
