What do you think of the wheels and tires?
I loved the first gen forester. I put on some Motegi MR139 on my forester.
I feel you, man! This forester is super dope!
Looking fine like a good red wine! Not really sure about the base color but I know you’ll make another great choice! Bye Lou, Charlie from Pennsylvania 😊
Not a fan of the red?
i think it looks good with the brushguard on the front, i have one on my 99 forester and love it, you could mount lights to it in the future if you wanted to. I think the color as is looks good, but its your ride meng, do you!
Appreciate the insight! Didn’t think to mount lights on it! I’ll look into that! Thanks!
Keep the beige it looks sick
One vote for beige! Okay!
The wheels look great! I like the color either way - I have the unpainted cladding on my red '98 L with black painted OEM steel wheels and I think it looks pretty good, but your car looks just fine how it is. I'm thinking about repainting my wheels more of a glossy graphite, since it's been this way since I got the car 5 years ago and I just feel like making a minor change.
Ooh that sounds nicer wish we could comment photos on RUclips! Would love to see yours!
@@Loubar87 Haha the original EJ25D made it to 180k before it got both N/A EJ curses... the rebuilt replacement is going in right after my other project is back on the road. I've always wanted to try recording something like that - we will see!
@@DefinitelyATool you should! If you don’t mind me asking, what curses are you referring to?
@@Loubar87 well, in all honesty it had a small, external head gasket leak when I bought it. Nobody could diagnose it since the water and oil weren't mixing, but the exhaust was pushing all the coolant out of the overflow reservoir. It became a large leak and problem after a few weeks.
I had someone do the head gasket job for me since I wasn't comfortable taking on the job on a flat engine, and it ran great for about 3 months after. Either it had begun to burn oil after being overheated from the head gasket failure, or the new seal kit was improperly installed. The inside of my exhaust was very sooty and the bottom of the motor oily, so maybe both? A rod bearing spun on the way home from a beach trip, and I found no oil on the dipstick after I limped it another few miles home.
A quality used EJ25D was proving difficult to source, so I went with a rebuilt one from EnginesUS. The '99 and newer parts are much easier to come by and seem a little more reliable.
@@DefinitelyATool oh my goodness! I’m so sorry to hear you went through all of that
Can you wrap the plastic trim instead of paint or replace? Would look great in a matte black but beige is not bad enough to change out the color if it’s a major hassle
Yeah! Great idea! Can totally wrap it!
