Excel is out-dated, but is the building blocks of analyses.
BI is used to explain analyses to executives.
Do you want to create analyses, or do you want to explain analyses?
Disclaimer, since I’ll get hate for this comment: yes, you can make “analyses” in BI. They’re not real analyses. No successful businesses are completing in depth profit-sensitive analyses in BI.

It’s a presentation layer simple as. It’s like Microsoft PowerPoint but interactive. You can’t input data you can only feed it data and do some complex calculations in it using DAX using the data you put in it
