RIP, James McCaffrey. Just as Max Payne is being "revived", this happens. Max Payne won't ever be the same without your voice.
I hope they have a stash of sound clips they can use to do the new reboot. Not hearing his voice in the games if they decide to do that will not be right..
@@mattdias3412 I know you right I'm so hurt
@@mattdias3412 It can be easily treated with AI. I'm pretty sure Rockstar and Remedy will find a way.
@@justinmcgillxboxreigns6591 AI works for a lot of things but it seems to still struggle with little nuances that can make or break a game.
@@TheSoundChronicles you right.
I like how Sam Lake doesn't age, just like the game.

That's just his constant healthy diet lifestyle.

Music. Voice acting. Story. Bullet time. That game is absolute masterpiece.
Yes the first two games were the third game made him into a naive idiot, or apparently wasn't a literal detective, who got treated like an idiot, who worked with idiots. I just wish Rockstar give remedy the license to make an actual third game.
Mods! There were some amazing mods made for this game.
This game was as close to the "Matrix" experience we were looking for as teens in the 2000's so it's really a game of its own, in its own era. Now games are too formulaic to garner any attention when they deviate from the formulas that sell, and it's a cycle that feeds into itself as bigger companies took down independents with a vision and creative control. Now it's all screened, censored, watered-down of its original intent, and delivered to the public as a triple-A game worth 80 - 120 dollars pre-order with or without the DLC. Nothing new under the sun.

I remember playing this game on my old PS2
Rest in peace James thanks for the memories
“Fear was like rusty needles poking at my brain, cold and scaly, it slithered down my chest”- Max Payne
Second game?
I felt that
@Daniel Stark thanks
@@hertoramann I believe it was from the first max Payne game
Rest in Peace, Mr McCaffrey. You shaped countless lives through your work.
You'll live on in the hearts of many. Rest in peace, James McCaffrey.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN THIS GREAT VOICE HAS NOT CHANGED FOR 20 YEARS !!!
Yo, play Control. He voices a major character who does a bunch of narration. It's also by the same company.
@@curupa66 _Control's_ mechanics suffer a lot from cargo cult mentality. Why does an adventure game have randomized Diablo-style loot mechanics and randomly-generated, MMO-style side quests? If they had to rip off another series' itemization or quest structure, _Ocarina of Time_ and _Majora's Mask_ would have made much better choices.
@@HenriFaust what ?
@@teevee23 No, the upgrade mechanics cannot be ignored.

"In the South Seas there is a cargo cult of people. During the war they saw airplanes land with lots of good materials, and they want the same thing to happen now. So they've arranged to imitate things like runways, to put fires along the sides of the runways, to make a wooden hut for a man to sit in, with two wooden pieces on his head like headphones and bars of bamboo sticking out like antennas-he's the controller-and they wait for the airplanes to land. They're doing everything right. The form is perfect. It looks exactly the way it looked before. But it doesn't work. No airplanes land. So I call these things cargo cult science, because they follow all the apparent precepts and forms of scientific investigation, but they're missing something essential, because the planes don't land." --Richard Feynman
Given how polished the shooting mechanics are in _Control,_ it wouldn't surprise me if we found out their itemization and side quest systems were the result of upper management or publisher interference.
Even after 20 years, the game aged like fine wine.
First and second Max Payne are great games , bur third one from rockstar is just another shooter , If Remedy got all rights to Max Payne back and made next Max Payne , kinda reset like other companies did with Hitman & Tomb Rider but in noir.
@@cookiesupervisor2211 totally agree.
@@cookiesupervisor2211 I think it's far from just another shooter to be honest.
@@someguy8951 Max Payne 3 is an amazing game, it doesn't have the same film-noir style that the first two are known for, but almost 10 years later and it's still one of the best 3rd person shooters out right now. We need another game, or something close to it. Control is not enough.
@@cookiesupervisor2211 nah for gameplay its as Max Payne as it could get, but the story and the style are just different.
Just here paying my tribute to one of the most iconic voices in Video Gaming.. May you rest in peace, legend.
RIP James, he passed away after the long fight with the cancer 😢
James McCaffrey has one of the most stylish voices in gaming.
