This car is fantastic! My only bone is that the base engine and top end engine essentially have the same Hp, torque, and efficiency. But the new N Line will help out in that regard.
Accord, Camry and Mazda6... Move over. I wouldn't be surprised if this became the best selling sedan in 2020. Absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Great range of engine sizes/types (personally, I don't care if there is no 6 cylinder in the range). And I love the fact that Hyundai did not adopt the stupid trend of huge wheels (that come with very expensive tires). 17's and 18's are more than enough.
I'm a Korean. At first, I thought Sonata was ruined by seeing photos and videos on the Internet. Ugly like a catfish. 😨 But I saw a black car on the road. It was a shock to run with the running lights on. The sports car feeling.. 😎 It was a tremendous aggressive presence. 😱 There are now the best designers in Hyundai and Kia, Genesis.. They're collecting like crazy even now. Recently stole head designer from Infinity again.. Actually look with your eyes.. Pretty than you think.. 😲 Renault Samsung, GM Daewoo, Ssangyong are working hard too.. They've been really hard working lately. I feel they have awakened something.. IT companies are working together like crazy.. Seems to take off the car. 5G automotive technology development is also scary.. Take a look at the new Optima, Azera, Cadenza, Tucson, Sorento, Seltos or coming soon GV80 and G80 Etc... Their preparedness is not a joke now 🤬🤬 They are working really hard with vomiting blood.. I live near Hyundai's headquarters factory in Ulsan, Korea... Thank you for reading.. 🤧🤧
Everyone's ragging on the rear end but that's my favorite end. It's like a cross between Lincoln MKZ and Honda Civic. The front looks like a fish called Wanda 😂 Its starting to grow on me but it looks better in Korean spec due to the grill difference. I also think the upcoming N-Line Sonata's front end looks better too. Overall I think it will do well. Hopefully it will sell better than the former gen. Although, I do see a lot of the former gen's on the road. I think styling was its weakness. It wasn't as hot as the 2011-14.
We should be ragging on the extreme stupidity of calling it a 4-door coupe.... Its a SEDAN! Coupe = 2 doors, Sedan = 4 doors, you can't just say its a four door 2-door, lmao! *bangs head on table*
Thank you for your review. So many talk down about a vehicle instead of just tell us about vehicle. Let us be the ones to talk good or bad not the person viewing the vehicle. Again , thank you.
Well to be honest with you, nowadays there really are no bad vehicles so it truly is up to the consumer to decide what is best for their style and needs.
Styling likes/dislikes are subjective. There are parts of this design I like and some other portions I need to get used to, this was the same reaction I had when the current generation Accord came out. Overall, I think I like it. Nice job on this video.
Saw a few in Seoul earlier this year, they didn't look as good as I thought they would in real life. Especially at night, the front/headlights looked way over done. No where near as elegant as Aston Martin, if that's what Hyundai was trying to copy.
Nice review...thanks for the inside shots of the Sonata plant in Alabama! The car itself is excellent and they will sell a bunch maybe to me. All new platform check, all new tech check. all new engines check, all new tranny check.... new design check!
Loving my 2023 black on black limited! Wish the US version had heated rear seats like Canadian. O think it is the best looking and most distinctive looking sedan at this price point though it's sister K5 is close. The Sonata though has more tech and the interior is appealingly unique. I expect competitors may take notice.
Abdullah S. Ahmad I have the 19 Accord also.. I actually think the rear on the Accord look good. But the sonata not so much lol. Maybe it’s because the license plate is in the bumper? lol
Thanks for the review. The Hyundia looks very interesting but I wonder if the Kia Stinger slightly outshines it in terms of overall design and power plants. I guess that may be a little subjective.
Looks good but if quality is as good as older versions, you might want to think twice, spend more time and do your research. I own 2012 Sonata and spent lots of time in dealership trying to fix installing engine to faulty fuel pump, etc...not a good experience at all. On the other hand, My son drives my old 2005 Scion tC, at 165k miles no major issues. Oil change, tires, and break pads that’s it.
The interior is nice I will say that the back end is awful And I really hate how the front end of all these new cars like Camry Lexus and this sonata have these oversized waffle type grilles-only large grilles that look good are on an Aston Martin I think if they made the grille smaller and used the black sport metal mesh type like on my Subaru it would look so much better But makes for a good rental car tho
I'd be all in on this car if it weren't for the push button transmission. That gives you no "feel" for driving the car. The 2019 model was great. It had a transmission you could feel and kick over for shiftronic shifting to pull past someone.
The front end is quite ugly. And the rear lights look like they're taken from Civic. The South Koreans did a much better job with the new redesign of the Kia Optima. That looks great.
The profile looks good, the rear looks good, but that front-end/grill is a miss for me. In the initial pics months ago, I thought ehh, wait to see a real world walk around look. Well, it's still hideous to me but I'm sure it'll sell well for Hyundai. #BigMouthBass
@@jameshughes6049 maybe that is it. I'll have to roll by my local dealership. I wasn't initially feeling the Accord when it was updated buy now I like it.
Nope. Its what the industry has now created. A 4 door coupe. Does it make sense? Not at all since generally a cohoe is only 2 doors but everyone has done it now.
Lot of nice features but the design is horrible. I hate that little turbo. We need to see a test with base engine. Still take a Camry over this Loaded Korean any day.
Our Camry decided to go to car shop after about 3 yrs and would take it to the shop for problems occassionally after that. My Honda Accord battery died after 2 yrs. I think it's a myth that Japanese cars are reliable and issues-free.
@@dionysus4778 I agree about the Japanese cars being over-hyped. My 1st car was a old KIA Rio lol, crappy little car but lasted a year with no issues at all. Bought a 4 year old Scion tC to replace it and it was overrated, quality was trash. Then I leased a 2014 Honda Accord coupe as my first brand new car and it needed a good amount of little warranty work done before I turned it in. My 2017 Ford Fusion Sport that I have now has been flawless for over 30k miles, still fast and problem-free, so I'll stick with Ford or Hyundai/KIA.
Yeah this car looks gross unfortunately, will definitely wait for the Optima next spring unless they have a good year-end lease special on the Buick Regal GS.
@@sargentpayne Yeah I read about it last week. I test drove the GS and it was a really nice sleeper, plus the hatchback is convenient so it's kind of sad. Might wait on the KIA Optima unless Buick has some good deals on a leftover 2019 Regal.
Absolutely agree with you this car is ugly. The new optima looks way better. These RUclips car reviewers always say a car looks awesome no matter what.
Overall great, but why does this « upscale » car look ugly, it look like a civic and whatever jaguar headlight look it has, they copy a lot of stuff without making their real desing. I really just dont like the look, especially the back and the chrome
Repeatedly saying the word "dynamic" to describe this car does little to distract from its hideous design. I can say it too. It has a "dynamic" design that looks like someone flattened or deflated a Hyundai Palisade.

Great review Brian! Nice to see your perspective on the latest 2020 Sonata. I always appreciate Canadian focused reviews such as yours.
Thank you for the review Brian. I really enjoy your show~~ Another out of the ballpark hit product!
they gonna sell tons of it. Great looking car

Does sports or luxury trim come with heads up display?
I have a 19 Accord and love it. I don’t understand why Honda and Hyundai make such a beautiful front end and then leave the back end ....eh

Agree..Mazda makes front end and back end both look good though not sure why Honda and Hyundai can’t do same
I love the front end is so beautiful
