I'm somewhat of a speed run newbie so I am very interested in this topic, and it should draw a lot of interest I would think. Thanks for all the work you do and post up! 👍
I am just building my first RC plane and info like this is exactly what I need- so many thanks for sharing this. I would love to know what people consider to be a "Good" battery to purchase.
Glad you like the video series. I've had good luck with the Turnigy Graphene series and the price is great. But if performance doesn't matter so much for you, this may not be all that critical.
Awesome test I would love to see you test HRB new red 100c packs I’m getting pretty good results from their 4s 5 amp 100 c packs but I might be better with another brand
So im not new to RC by any stretch and i came across the HRB 9500 mAH 4s lipos. The price seemed reasonable and they were purchased through an authorized vendor. Well within 4 weeks of using the lipos and getting 12 recharge cycles on them both lipos swelled and turned into hot molten lava. Even the power leads melted off. They did significant damage to my RC. I contacted HRB and they asked me to contact the vendor. The vendor said to contact HRB directly cause theres nothing they could do. I documented the incident the best i could and sent pictures with all the details. The company left me hanging and its not like i xan jump on a plane and go to china to get my money back. Moral of the story, not everything cheap is worth buying. Just because you find a cost-effective lipo, it might end up costing you more in the end after you clean up the damages. Just my .02 but im done with HRB.
@RCexplained For how cheap they were I liked how they preformed. And as for new batteries you should always cycle them before use. Balance drain to 3.50v then charge to 4.20v. Two times works for me and I've achieved close to what is claimed for mah. Do I recommend buying these. Only if on a budget.
A battery can not discharge a specific current if that current pushes the battery over 60C in temperature. I collected data by testing what batteries could actually do and used it to create an empirical formula around capacity and internal resistance. It's not perfect but I can assure you its much closer then a C rating on a label will be. There are a couple videos on the channel that talk to these points a bit further.
Hi, nice and informative video!👍👏👏👏👍 any chance to test on Yowoo Grahene 6S or 4S 100C Lipo? Understand they came from the same factory of HRB.. btw, what is the best/ preferred Lipo for RC boats.. ( which demand higher C output to sustain the 95% throttle runs especially in a race or bashing) thanks in advance. ❤
I have these two 3s 6000 60c batteries, I'm thinking it was this low discharge rate that burned my esc! Is this possible for this to happen or was it just my bad luck?
@@DanielReyes-hz1qk the air cooled Nissan Leaf's had issues with pack life in the southwest states. Maybe run the test again cooling the pack? 80f is ideal but temps in the 60-70f range would probably be fine too.
@@RCexplained in their lab; I wonder if they tested at 70f or if that matters? Or are they intentionally optimistic or the quality has slipped? Is the pack warrantied to spec out at that? Have them send you a pack that can do 60c.

@theworst4980 this is a great idea. Some of the challenges I ran in to was being able to ship the batteries out of Canada as they are a dangerous good. This makes it costly.
That was the best explanation of "C" rating and how to get the actual "C" rating I've ever seen. 👍🏾💯✌🏾
Thanks for the comment. You'll be seeing more battery content soon!

I live in Australia where you got to sell your sole get a good brand lipo have a few of the Hrb and they suck.
That sucks! Maybe start a LiPo company !
I hope you have the right size connector to handle 150 to 200 amps xt90s only handle 90 amps
I show the connector used in this video. And we don't really go much over 100A or so.

I'd love to test it! I haven't yet figured out how to acquire all the different battery packs out there. Need to find a $800CAD per month budget.

That's unfortunate. I've not had a LiPo cause any damage to anything, and I really hope no else has to see what you have.
I run duel HRB 5200 4s on my limitless. Xlx2 pulled 350amp no battery issues. 132mph and had more.
Are you talking about not having battery issues or LiPo performance issues?

Can you explain how you calculated the C-rate and the theory behind it? Thank you in advance

Can you do a video on the charger that you're using
what about the charger? I can do a video, just not sure what to talk about.
@@RCexplained the whole charger the features how many amps how many channels the menu system

Possible yes, but without the data, you won't be able to tell to easily.
What key number would have had to have been different to be 60c?
The internal resistance while charging would've been lower, and the pack wouldn't have overheated under the tested load
@@DanielReyes-hz1qk the air cooled Nissan Leaf's had issues with pack life in the southwest states. Maybe run the test again cooling the pack? 80f is ideal but temps in the 60-70f range would probably be fine too.
The specs on the pack and the companies website did not specify any cooling spec required to hit 60C.

@@rtz549 well that's just it. I doubt they could come anywhere close to 60C. 60C is an incredible number to hit for a pack.
Got nothing usefull to say, so have this comment for the algo!
Appreciate the time you took to comment. Hope you enjoy this video series.
Give away the packs after testing. With the correct rating labeled on it.
True, I've never had any difficulty giving things away before.
