With the best will in the world this film isn't going to work. People will always compare it to quadrophenia, and that's impossible. Quadrophenia just worked so well. The characters were meant to be together. Not like now, kids don't have the same outlook on life.
Quadrophenia caught a time and mood of the youth perfectly when it was released. This is not going to do that. You need to move with the times to be a Mod and not live in the sixties !

I was having a friendly argument with some friends, wondering whether Phil Daniels character committed suicide, because I understand according to them, you only see a scooter going over a cliff. For me, there were two wars, and some people have agreed with me. The Ted's Vs the Rockers and the Mods Vs the small skinhead minority who supported the National Front or the British National Party.
@@WolfyFoxlow Well I am pretty sure that I heard Phil Daniels talking about his character correctly, saying he thought his character Jimmy committed suicide at the end of the film, but thank you for correcting me, if I am wrong.
It's all a bit ridiculous really, being a mod was all about embracing the new, setting trends and changing it up quickly, there is nothing mod about riding 60 year old scooters and looking like an extra from an Austin power movie...

Have to say this film was extremely disappointing, just didn't work at all despite a half decent performance from the lead actor. Such a shame. Hopefully Pebble and the boy will be much better, it really couldn't be any worse than this..
An interesting thing about the Who. Someone told me at a party once, that there were Mods on one side, and Rockers on the other, at one particular Who concert.
I worked round Mark Wingetts house in Dalston and he didnt stop talking to me about Quadrophenia while i was there he is a Top bloke

Jimmy did not go over the cliff,the begining of the film is actually the end,where he is walking away from the cliff.

April 2020 but it has had a lot of negative reviews so far,also The Who are not happy about this production ,we will see.
