Thank you very much!
Le Grande Belleza synthesizes the absurd emptiness of living with the immense joy of those rare moments that actually make us want to live.
It is essentially an anti-nihilistic movie that at the same time acknowledges the nihilism of mundane life.
I'm italian, and maybe not everyone know that this movie here is very underrated and almost nobody likes it. When I read american reviews I was really surprised by how much the great beauty is loved all over the world, except for italy...
Thank you for doing this, very appreciated. I'd also love to see the beauty of Sorrentino's "loro"
why nobody likes there?
@@fabri_gonzalez because it is considered like a bad copy of fellini's work (especially of la dolce vita), but they didn't understand that sorrentino only wanted to homage him and make his own movie.
Non capisco nemmeno io perché proprio nel nostro paese(di merda) non venga apprezzata un'opera di questo calibro.
@@fabri_gonzalez but despite my love for this movie, I still think that the best sorrentino movie is "il divo"
Il Divo is indeed the best, but LGB is without a doubt Sorrentino’s best on a visual level
The Great Beauty is a work of art and Sorrentino is by far the most talented Italian director
Paolo Sorrentino is the greatest Italian director of the last two decades. This movie is Sorrentino’s masterpiece and you should watch also the tv series he made( The Young Pope and The New Pope). His movies are the reason why we(Italians) are proud of our Cinematography.
Stefano Sollima is great too
one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen
Should've called it "The Great Beauty of The Great Beauty"
Simply perfection of each constituent that adds up to be called a movie. The near tangible sad evanescence of everything from the beauty of Rome or whatever that is called life. Respect to all who participated in the creation of this great beauty!
One of the best movies of this century
This film can be called the new "Dolce Vita" Fellini of our time, an incredibly beautiful and deep film!
Non confondiamo la merda con la cioccolata per cortesia
To me, both have a very similar surface (albeit La Grande Belleza is an updated take on this) but have entirely different themes and content.
fellini’s films>>>>>>>>>>sorrentino’s films
I'd actually say that this movie is a mix of la Dolce Vita and 8 1/2... the only similarity shared with la Dolce Vite is the social context and the implicit critique of said society.
On the contrary, 8 1/2 is about a man who produced marvelous art and is now completely stuck and without any idea of sort, which is the exact thing that happens to Jep Gambardella in this masterpiece. The key difference to me, and what elevates la Grande Bellezza (I'll say a blasphemy now) even above 8 1/2 is the sacrality used to talk about such a sacred topic: beauty.
Fellini was always a bit too casual in his movies, I always felt that a slower pace would have been a benefit and, as much as I love Nino Rota's music, I prefer these wonderful and ominous chants/choruses.
@@claudiomonti3132 why we have to do comparison, they are totally different filmmakers
A simply remarkable film, a film that has haunted me since the first viewing. So many layers, such depth of existential questioning and, of course, the sheer beauty of Rome combined perfectly with a unique main character, Jep, who becomes like a camera seeking out the meaning of this life, who finds in splashes of beauty the muse he needs to write another book, after so many years of searching...a wondrous character who is not afraid to question his own assumptions and worth, while downplaying his past literary achievement, and speaking the truth about himself and others. After a film like this, our American 'comic book' movies seem pretty sad.
One of the most striking part of the movie is 1:17. Jep says "Do you know who am I?" and the little girl replies back " No one ! " Jep mumbles a bit then accept the fact that she is right. He is no one like the rest of us...
As the child represents innocence and truth. The girl can see Jep’s true self, what he is trying to hide through his festive appearance.
This is exactly what i mean. You can't fool the truth. This is the reason why he stopped the convince her and accept that she is right.
A monument out of a film! Really!
One of my favorite movies of all time! ❤❤❤❤❤
at the end of the movie jep girlfriend open her cloth and sat and stares jep ...
I don't know what's the meaning of that one...if u know then Reply me bro
It is the best movie I have seen so far! Beautiful as haeven!
When we’re talking about cinema I could say I’m so proud of my country.
A great tribute to a beautiful movie. Congratulations!
What is it that you love the most ?
The smell of old peoples houses.
L’odore delle case dei vecchi
What is the deeper meaning behind this? I still contemplate on it
@@a2zadi I don't know how to explain it so you can understand it but all I can say is that there are some people that enjoy nostalgia more than the present generation in which they are born. This film focuses on those people who see deeper meaning in everything. This is not about that average 9 to 5 job kinda life , its about the things that we didn't do but are still nostalgic about them. Its complicated but it is what it is and one day you will surely connect with this film.
a2zadi I agree with Akshit Gautam’s answer. I think there’s something to be said for those who live in nostalgia. When things aren’t real and in the present, we can imagine them as being perfect in a way nothing that is real could ever be. That’s to say that Jep is such a person- one for whom reality isn’t good enough, and only nostalgia isn’t a disappointment.
@@akshitgautam3081 He says this in a manner that gives away he is nostalgic, but when we learn later what he is nostalgic about, it turns out he is nostalgic about pussy as well. One pussy, to be exact.
Невероятно сильное исполнение, трогающее душу... 🎼😐
I would say one of the best movies I have seen in the latest years. Beautiful photography with a deep and enriching script. The superb acting of Toni Servillo and the rest of characters plus the masterful directing of Sorrentino are a delight for the senses. The Great Beauty is well beyond the masterpiece of Fellini.
As I already said under the post announcing this video: thank you! You chose all the best shots and really did justice to this amazing movie... can't thank you enough!
The beauty of La grande bellezza could be the entire movie.
What a bellezza..
After seeing this monumental Opera I am convinced that Paolo Sorrentino is the evolution of Federico Fellini, this film is simply incredible, it absolutely must be seen at least once in a lifetime.
THIS IS THE GREATEST.
this movie is truly a masterpiece & Sorrentino is a real genius! that's also my favorite movie, so thank you very much for this video!
One of my favorite movies ever. I was obsessed with this movie after I saw the trailer from the Oscar’s.
This movie has such an impact, it makes me think. It allows me to appreciate the little things in life more
MAIS OUI, pourquoi je n'avais pas vu cette vidéo avant. Enorme coup de coeur pour Sorrentino
Thank you for this masterpiece ♥️
one of the best shots I've ever seen, BRAVO MAESTRO !
Woah. Amazing movie. Thanks. But, all of this seems incomplete without The Beauty of Hugo and The Beauty of The Third Man
One of my fav movies ever. Rome is the star x
this is perfect! great editing, Luca Bigazzi is a cinematography god.... i suggest you to do youth 2015 from the same director aswell
Paolo Sorrentino is Italy. Italy is Paolo Sorrentino.
if only you included the shot with the young girl at the end of the film.. That shot gave me chills
Which one ?
@@andreatilli6227 he means the final scene, the very last shot
at the end of the movie jep girlfriend open her cloth and sat and stares jep ...
I don't know what's the meaning of that one...if u know then Reply me bro
@@Mukesh-ot5kp that is the great beauty that inspired him to write the first book. After that he never wrote again. He even mentions during the movie “I was looking for the great beauty”. After 40 years he comes back to the same spot, and the scene shows him both old and young with the same stare while he recites the beginning of his new book. Symbolising that he indeed came back, once again, to the great beauty.
"La più consistente scoperta che ho fatto, pochi giorni dopo aver compiuto sessantacinque anni, è che non posso più perdere tempo a fare cose che non mi va di fare ..." REMEK DJELO!
Gorgeous ❤️
Stunning Cinematography 👌👌👌
*Outstanding work, thank you!*
I love this film and PS is a brilliant director with a unique visual sensibility. For me it sits with my love of Italy. I’m really interested to learn that the film is not so well liked in Italy itself and wonder why this is ?
You are an artist
Put the whole film already! This film is a masterpiece
What a masterpiece👏👏❤️❤️
My favorite film :)
Never heard of this one, i'll go watch it
Magnifique montage comme d'habitude !
as a filmmaker this channel is such inspiration and a great tools for ideas.
Could have posted the entire thing honestly, masterpiece of a movie. Great video as always 💚💛
That's one of the best films ever made, with a very intense ending.
Can you do th beauty of Bellocchio's "il Traditore"? He gots amazing picture
Best movie
Gorgeous
Beautiful 🎉
May lightning (and the ghost of Fellini) strike me, but I believe La Grande Bellezza is every bit as good a film as La Dolce Vita.
AMAZING VIDEO!!!!!
Incredible musics among which is this one by Zbienew Preisner.
even in our dystopian, collapsing civilization sparks of genius shine in the smoke...
Beautiful movie, but let's be honest, Rome does all the hard work.
Absolutely disagree. Loyalty of movies made in Rome. Not all touch the soul the way this one does
This movie explains how fast life runs, and no one could change anything what already written besides anyone
Rarement un film n'aura autant justifié d'appeler le cinéma "le 7eme Art"
Αριστούργημα!!
I love this movie so much.
Italia, Italia, Italia ♥
Superbe.
Great video man! Also love the music you chose, really captures the feeling of the film. I would love to see Io Sono L’amore (I Am Love) by Luca Guadagnino which is one of the most underrated films of the last decade. Same with El Abrazio del Serpiente (The Embrace of the Serpent) by Ciro Guerra. Both are some of the most beautiful films ive ever seen
Immense masterpiece, as your video.
Some suggestions:
High Flying Bird
Contagion
Youth
Enemy
Great a Paolo Sorrentino film.....huge respect for his works ,you should consider doing the new pope and if you haven't seen it I highly recommend,,it's a sequel series to the young pope which is also great but if you do decide to make a beauty of it should be for the new pope
I was expecting you to do this one and it was a really good job! Probably one of the most beautiful films i've ever seen.
It would be so good if you could do The Beauty of Big Fish, Buffalo 66 or Last Emperor!
Everyone can get the deepest feelings from this movie, regardless where he is from.
But if you are from Rome, you can get more.
The aesthetic beauty is breathtakingly numbing already a subscriber to your channel was looking at Fellini's got curated to you I'm buying this Blu-ray why couldn't a Batman movie look like this and a Kenneth agar movie can you imagine the homeroticism
the beauty of the sopranos please!
GRANDIOSE
I see today. Fantastic film
It's really difficult not to be beautiful if it's filmed in Rome
Italian cinema at its best
Definitely a feast for the eyes, the ears, and the soul
film che rimarrà nella storia del cinema.
DIVINO
Great movie
The beauty of The Raid 2 please!
The entire movie is a Poem
The beauty of this video is the timeline
The beauty of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
The great beauty
Great video, have you seen Manchester by the sea? If so, that would make a good video
Can you have a designated area for requests? So the comment section is about the video and not just people asking for other videos
Unfortunately no 😅
Mancavano tante scene che meritavano di essere messe, come la scena iconica dove il protagonista guarda il soffitto e vede il mare. Ma comunque buon lavoro
This video is masterfully done❤ I only wish you used Arvo Pärt's music.
Rex tremendae majestatis,
Qui salvandos salvas gratis,
Salva me, fons pietatis.
Ingemisco tamquam reus :
Culpa rubet vultus meus :
Supplicanti parce, Deus.
Dies irae, dies illa
Solvet saeclum in favilla,
Teste David cum Sibylla.
I think this video rather shows how people see the film, but don't understand it...
Good vid as always 👏
Just wondering are you thinking about making a vid on the netflix show "Dark"
The Beauty of The Hateful Eight please
ugh wtf
Please do a The Beauty of The Room
Replays whole movie
Could you check out the film "Cure (1997)" ? It's quite a beautiful, yet terrifying film.
The Beauty of Se7en please !
The young pope!
A Bronx tale!!!
Please The Beauty Of The Aviator (2004)
I saw someone put in their favourite of the decade. Is it that good? I didn't watch it yet.
Erick Garcia I think it is
It is!
