Wrong my friend. The Blues will never go away because it's honest, genuine, Powerful and extremely intense. It is here to stay forever it will always have a faithful and steady audience
Nice man, Eric Bibb. As a young man he was a neighbor of mine in the apartment house at 316 W. 79th St. in Manhattan. Glad to see he developed his talent to this level. Really impressive.
This is just remarkable good blues - great song done so well by Eric Bibb, great slide-guitar-on-the-lap by Jerry Douglas, but what about harmonica-on-the-accordion, followed by piano-on-the-mandolin by Sam Bush? What a jam band. I want to be a fly on the wall at the reunion gig.
Accordians like this are still in use in Europe - one can be seen in the clip of Angelo Debarre's concert "Manoir de mes Reves" elsewhere on RUclips. You will probably guess from his name that Angelo is a French national (though of Tzigane blood). He is one of the most accomplished practitioners of the genre known as Manouche, or Gypsy, Jazz. This kind of cross-cultural influence is very much in line with the Philosophy of the Transatlantic Sessions - I just love
The Transatlantic Sessions musicians have an inordinate ability to enhance the talents of those artists performing with them, the exception being Eric Bibb performing Don’t Ever Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down, which needs no enhancing and in fact the Transatlantic Sessions musicians are the ones being enhanced by Eric's amazing talent.
Discovered this great musician, based of a street music cover from Markus K. yesterday in Odessa/ Ukraine. A great artist as well and globe trotter worth to be followed and valued.
Was at Transatlantic Sessions on 1st Feb in Glasgow Eric was outstanding ! Add the house band behind him, especially Jerry on dobro and Dirk on the Cajun box the result was even better than this video !!!!! Next series is in production March this year
That's what makes it so special is not just the singin' and music played , is the Joy of everyone preforming it! . Everyone feelin' the blues in a good way! Eric Bibb really laid it down ! If you dig this, check out Amos Lee - JESUS at the Transatlantic sessions. Sooo SOUFUL! even Aly Bain is rockin' back and forth diggin' it
You might slide You might tumble and fall by the road side Don't you ever let nobody Drag your spirit down Remember you're walkin' up to heaven Don't let nobody turn you round Walk with the rich Walk with the poor Learn from everybody that's what life is for Don't you ever let nobody Drag your spirit down Remember you're walkin' up to heaven Don't let nobody turn you round Some say yes Some say no Some wait and see which way the wind blow Don't you ever let nobody Drag your spirit down Well we're walkin' up to heaven Don't let nobody turn you round Well I might say things Sound strange to you And I might preach the gospel I believe it's true I won't let nobody Drag your spirit down Yes I'm walkin' up to heaven Won't let nobody turn me round You might slip You might slide You might tumble and fall by the road side Don't you ever let nobody Drag your spirit down Remember you're walkin' up to heaven Don't let nobody turn you round
just marvelous! here is Spirit talking alright ! the lyrics alone.. But then the energy of this Blues is a classic and beyond. Cannot stop listening to it and play the harmonica along. Such a Joy. Eric I Love your music, I would say this is your best ever. I wish we could have a clear list of all the musicians
Is there a longer version of this interview ? What a wonderful woman. I loved her song "Freight Train" from when I was a little kid but didn't hear her original version until just a few years ago. Thanks for this video even if it is a bit short 😊
I have been lost in blues almost since I discovered music. Life wouldn't be the same without a it mate. I am glad you are hearing such great legends. Greetings ;)
I love the blues also. Jerry Douglas just let loose of a good bit, not bad for a white bluegrass guy Buddy Guy would be proud… Sam Bush also gave some back BB and Albert King would have been surprised. Don't think me racist… this was the black mans way of expressing sorrows. I love this!!!
Oh my Lord, just how magical can music get.
you got it - magical how does it raise your spirit so much - mystery magical life changing music, great to share my friend.
Squeeze the blues outa that squeeze box and mando. Bibb just leads and we follow. Amen Brother from Scottish Highlands.
I have to watch this every few days just to get a fix. Toooo sweet.
Me too, in 2023. So much fun to play and sing.
Fantastic. What a joy to listen to great musicians enjoying themselves. Just wish this was on the tv instead of the current rubbish
this is seriously the coolest modern blues ive heard in a while
Wrong my friend. The Blues will never go away because it's honest, genuine, Powerful and extremely intense. It is here to stay forever it will always have a faithful and steady audience
Heard Eric do this one when he opened for Ray Charles, best concert of my life! Thanks for the video🤙
Now this is class, what a singer great number, would cheer you up on a rainy day, in Ireland, Thank you the sun is shining now.
Playing with Eric Bibb could make any instrument sound bluesy as hell!

Having heard Eric Bibb live you never forget.
Yes indeed. Love him music. Saw him live it was outstanding.
You got that right. I saw him with Linda Tillery in Berkeley. Can hear her voice with him on this in my head.
Best use of a pile of musicians in a long time
That's the finest dobro player the world has ever seen. Jerry Douglas!
You can tell that they are all enjoying themselves mightily.

You might slide
You might tumble and fall by the road side
Don't you ever let nobody
Drag your spirit down
Remember you're walkin' up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you round
Walk with the rich
Walk with the poor
Learn from everybody that's what life is for
Don't you ever let nobody
Drag your spirit down
Remember you're walkin' up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you round
Some say yes
Some say no
Some wait and see which way the wind blow
Don't you ever let nobody
Drag your spirit down
Well we're walkin' up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you round
Well I might say things
Sound strange to you
And I might preach the gospel I believe it's true
I won't let nobody
Drag your spirit down
Yes I'm walkin' up to heaven
Won't let nobody turn me round
You might slip
You might slide
You might tumble and fall by the road side
Don't you ever let nobody
Drag your spirit down
Remember you're walkin' up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you round
