    Good lord man, 125k for a trailer you need to pull. Just build a vanlife rig that was 4 wheel drive.

      Most people want a trailer as a base camp, then the mobility of their vehicle without tearing down camp. You pay for what you get in life.

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck Год назад +8

      @@MrOffshore - it depends on how you set up camp. In reverse, it takes me 20 minutes to set up or take down camp. When I’m on the trail, I have my campsite with me at lunch time,nor dinner time. You often overpay for what you think you need in life. No need to be arrogant.

    • @pamelalower1806

      @@pamelalower1806 - noooo. Even the cheap RVs have 30% to play with in price and still be profitable. That’s without manufacturers rebates.
      $37500 in profits above their lowest profitable price. Knock $30K off and at $95,000 you STILL are paying an exorbitant amount!! There’s the fact this is an occasional use item as well. It will depreciate faster than a vehicle,,,,, it’s a horrible way to spend your money. If you have surplus cash, go for it! But you are not getting your money’s worth, per se.

    I really enjoy reading all the comments and diverse opinions. They hit on a lot of different bases, which enforces why there are so many different RV manufacturers and dealers. I am really impressed with this trailer. The innovations, layout and technology upgrades is impressive. I see a lot of people gasping over the price, which is expensive, but appears to be inline with the build. Can you buy a less expensive knock off or imitation? And, still have a great time? Absolutely, but the old saying still holds true that you get what you pay for. You don't buy an RV for an investment, you buy it, because you want it and you want to enjoy getting outdoors and seeing the world. Your financial situation and age have a lot to do with how much you spend or what you find acceptable. I'm almost 70, and whether this rig is $50K or $150K, it's really not that big a deal at this stage of my life. You buy what you want and can afford at the time. The important thing is to get out there! Although I really like this rig, it's not for me. I currently am on my 4th trailer, a Momentum toy hauler pulled with a Ford F250, 6" lift and 37" tires. My wife and our 3 dogs can get in some remote places, but not exactly off road, off grid like this Xplore X145....and that's ok. We still enjoy getting out there and the anticipation of the next trip. See you on the road. Don from Florida.

    The Dometic 12v AC looks so modern as does the rest of the interior. I wish the trailer was a bit wider and longer. The X195 is closer to the right length but the width is the same, I think. Overall, the livability is top notch. Beautiful construction and the off-grid capabilities are unmatched.

      He’s basically a broker or sales rep for outside the United States RVs. Yes, if you watched as many RV channels outside of the United States, they build a better product and this would be common place in Australia, but because it comes to America, it has a different flare to it and with that flair comes the price. Not many people are really going to be using it like that I don’t think unless you’re into death Valley other parts of Arizona maybe New Hampshire who knows but Even if you have the resources to purchase this a question look at how many times you’re going to use it in one calendar year you might be paying much more than it’s worth, but I’m not hating though we only got one shot at this life may as well enjoy

    Many may be interested, I 3M double taped.. my solar panels down to my roof no drilling what so ever. I built tacks with flat aluminum rails that can be adjusted either way.. tilted... Each panel has it's own rack... each rack has two rails that are double sided 3M taped... I put them on three years ago and it is as strong and tight and steady today as it was the day i mounted them.. so... Oh and I ran my cables to a top mounted water tight... grommeted two wire pass through... Not a drop of water has ever gotten through, also used the double sided 3M.. and a clear over coat of silicon.. at the twist ... ends.. threads. Yes my panels sit about 4 inches above the roof... surface... I can easily clean under them.. I have had zero issues.. with any of the installation...

    A rig like this needs a Deisel Turbon heater... runs on diesel and 12 volt DC.. Trust me,, the dry heat and the easy of installation and Maintenace is way Better then propane any day.. Having a back up heater is a good idea so i would leave the factory propane heater system in place, I would add a diesel heater to the rig for sure right away... You can buy the Chinese diesel heaters for under 300 bucks.. you already have 12 volt DC on boat sop.. yeah.. that is a must... In my opinion.

    Those batteries are storing 13kw of energy. That’s a crazy amount for a trailer. More solar would be good to try and recharge the batteries when off grid. Minimum of 3500w total. The Solar is the weak link, even though it’s great for a trailer. It also depends on what the solar controller can handle.

    • @MrOffshore
      @MrOffshore Год назад

      Excellent points. For a trailer to really handle off-grid extended trips, solar is key and most people don’t realize how solar NEVER delivers what they are rated to deliver…then add cloudy days, sun position/distance at different times of the year/day and you find out how quickly you really need to be overkill on your panels and controller. If you plug a portable solar panel into the SAE quick connect on the side, and that panel has its own controller there’s a good chance it will “fight” with the onboard controller. In a system l, I’ve always been told you need one controller only.

    • @MrOffshore
      @MrOffshore Год назад

      You would have to get into some SERIOUSLY cold weather for the batteries to have any issues. The trailer is well insulated and I’d bet even without power, the interior would not drop close to the exterior temperature. Heated batteries don’t help unless you have a way to power the heaters…it’s a catch 22…a small AGM battery would fix the issue to either power a heater, or power a fan on a furnace (not sure the power draw on a Truma). I would imagine temps would need to extended below -15 degrees F to affect the batteries “inside” the well insulated trailer. A small generator will negate all the potential issues as well long enough to heat the interior.

    Just saying this rig is too heavy for a Wrangler or Bronco. One best get a top line suspension at this cost. Did you say plywood. Eeek. That entry door is nice. No bed in dinette and full bed is not exactly huge inside. Nice solar/lithium. Go Power maybe not the best. My isotherm is in a 50k non yacht trailer 😉 windows are nice but not artic tern. Bathroom nice except for toilet (IMAO). Narrow door not optimal. Truma nice. Looks tippy to me so tall but I have never towed one. Nice trailer I would jump all over this at 100k but 125k. Airstream is not what you should compare this to and if you did it would be a Base Camp 20x under 60k

    How about a small, one person camper with an inside shower, toilet and kitchen? All of the smaller campers sleep two to four people but leave no choice but to cook/shower outside. Not everyone wants to stand outside fixing breakfast at 6am with the dirt blowing in their biscuits or freezing their cojones off taking a shower then go inside and plop down on a queen size bed. I think there are lots of people such as myself that would gladly trade multiperson berth space for indoor conveniences in a small, lightweight package that is truly offroad capable.

      This might be the trailer for you as the bed really only looks to sleep one person comfortably.

    I don't know, seems like a high price. I just picked up an off-road riverside mt McKinley 158 for $7500 and it has most of what this has. I could put in a similar solar system for another $2500 and basically, it's the same thing.

    I’m not paying $110,000 for a rig and then have to do the shimmy to get in the shower. When he said this was a couples rig, I couldn’t help thinking that he meant a young couple just because of the full sized bed. No older couple wants to sleep in a full sized bed because he would touch her. She’s already so hot she can’t sleep anyway and she don’t need him and his blankets anywhere near her! Just the opinion of an older lady with a husband and a queen sized bed! 🥵

    • @MrOffshore
      @MrOffshore Год назад

      I’d be willing to bet the trailer has acceptable balance and those batteries don’t weigh as much as you might think…there were other things that would affect weight more than the batteries, like the monster storage box on the front and the pass thru storage…just plan accordingly and everything will be fine.
