In My Region the line up was as follows: Danguard Ace - Monday Starvengers - Tuesday Spaceketeers - Wednesday Grandizer - Thursday GaiKing - Friday Never missed it.
In beantown, it was the same. I used to watch these but, I could never see the closing finale on some of them. They would all loop and start over at the same time. I loved these cartoons.
It has been so long… I remember this one line from the Gaiking Robot pilot… Zelons on Mount St Helens! It had erupted in the same year I saw Gaiking. All of you were lucky,my town didn’t get these. I saw movies, which were three episodes cut together.
man this was one of my favorites!!! We used to play gaiking at recess in grade one. we would pretend we were the robots fighting eachother! oh memories!!!
For over 30 years I thought this was Macross 🙄😂. Because my childhood friends/neighbors said it was Macross 😒. Imagine my surprise when I finally decided to look up Macross this week (after finishing Thunder Sub and currently watching Star Blazers) and realizing it's a different show altogether 👀
Anyone know where the movie version can be found? I used to watch the movie taped from Showtime all the time but that VHS tape is long gone... Was probably my most watched video up until Robotech came out...
I was picking it up in Newport RI back then. Half the time on a little B+W TV. Often with snow in the picture. Force Five Followed By Star Blazers after school and then Trying to catch Star Trek on WJAR Channel 10 out of Providence or around 8 or so trying to catch it on Channel 56.
Old school format for the 70s anime like Gaiking it's part of Force Five in America and it's also syndicated in Italy in the 80s the Italian dub version of the original Japanese anime series Gaiking has the song It takes me higher by Ganymed which opens the Italian dub version of the anime series Gaiking
I used to watch Force Five religiously in the morning before going to school. Had to have been watching these episodes when I was in grade 1 and 2. The whole F5 series was so cool to watch. My favourite was the Starvengers. These cartoons were the pioneers of Anime. Only peeps around my age or generation can appreciate these classics. I’m from Toronto, Canada and I was able to purchase the whole series of Starvengers on DVD at Pacific Mall. I know I’m going off in tangents here but, I actually had a die cast model of Grendizer and I regret that it was not taken care of while growing up as a youth. Out of curiosity, was there die cast metal versions of Gaiking??? I’m forever a 70’s and 80’s freak. I personally think it was the best era of childhood for toys and cartoons, and who can forget the arcades???!!! Btw, I have C64 images of F5 robots on my floppy disks. Yeah I’m old but, it’s an era forever engraved in my heart.
I'm from Asia and I remember in 89 during the popularity of Madonna's Like A Prayer song that when I die I'll have a tape 📼 copy of this (which I thought war Macross all these years) in my coffin ⚰ and bring it to heaven. I was 8 or 9 in grade 3. I'll forever associate Macross, err Gaiking, with that Madonna song 😂
Jim Terry had to make edits, due to American censorship, but in South East Asia, you do tend to air anime uncut when dubbed in English, I'm quite well aware of that fact. As for the number of episodes dubbed that was for syndication reasons at the time, I think, that or again could be down to censorship. At least you guys had them uncut and I'm glad you found some of them, apparently a lot of shows had dubs made in the Philippines. :)
Does anyone remember an anime where the main guy put a star chip to his forehead and becomes an ultraman like hero? I've been trying to remember but cant. All I can remember is part of an episode where a little girl finds a baby crocodile monster that she plays an instrument to. It grows up and starts attacking things, and to beat it the little girl had to play to it.
In the early 80s my family was stationed in Panama. I watched this in Spanish and English. I saw more episodes in the Spanish version that never made it to English.
For those of you who watched the entire Force Five series growing up, which theme song did you like the best? Mine, in order: 1. Gaiking 2. Starevengers 3. Danguard Ace 4. Grandizer 5. Spaceketeers
I'm trying to find thi s one cartoon can u please help. It's about this guy who's looking after a woman and who volunteered for some super soldier program, after the experiment he gets his powers from a suit with these two staffs and he can join them together, it's about as old as Gaiking. The suit is a red and white colour plus he flys around in some kart
I'm pretty sure that as a kid I had a vhs movie (english dub) with the Gaiking in it.... Think it was called dragon slayers are go... I remember clearly the images on the back of the cover had transformers on it O_o The main pilot was into baseball and use to cry HYDRO LAZER!!!!! when the Gaiking attacked... Am I alone!!?

Mister Big Toy Land, 399 Moody St, In Waltham MA.

Yeah those were the days! OMG. Here in Boston!
Begged my parents to take me there (it was maybe an hour drive), but they wouldn't. They likely figured I would ask for everything in the shop :)
lol..i remember the commercial for that place and bugging my dad to bring me there..i grew up just north of worcester...good old days.
man that place was mecha to us in boston !
It has been so long… I remember this one line from the Gaiking Robot pilot…
Zelons on Mount St Helens!
Man, loved Gaiking as a little kid I wanted to be the pilot of the Space Dragon when I grow up.
I just got this for Christmas and have been watching most of the day
Bring back such good memories. Thanks for the upload.
Wow, my first Super Robot anime, and it was actually in the Force Five format!
this is as BADASS as it gets!!
My precious childhood when I thought these warring robots really existed . ❤ They were my heroes .
I saw this as a kid, I couldn’t even remember the name of it just the robot. Brought back memories
It has been 40 years now for me. But wait… 50 years since Speed Racer-I think they both came out of the same studio.
You, dear Swarlock, just made my day! F*ck yeah! I haven't seen that in decades!
I had the big Gaiking toy as a kid.
I liked when he got his upgrade with his mask open. Gaiking was my favorite but I never missed any of them all Monday to Friday
Got Gaiking when I was in 🇮🇹 Italy. Love that Country!
Anyone know where the movie version can be found? I used to watch the movie taped from Showtime all the time but that VHS tape is long gone... Was probably my most watched video up until Robotech came out...
Force 5 was a great cartoon in the 80s.
5 different sci fi cartoons which were good.
@JixMa i agree, i too loved Force Five and Gaiking was my favorite amoung the five shows. I also had the Gaiking & Space Dragon toys.
This still takes me back. The music still clicks

Every time I listen this song, I want to hit like. Then I find, I have already like it earlier
Yes Force 5 five different robots best robot cartoon ever
I think my favorite episode of Gaiking was when they went up against Taurus, the Great Space Gladiator.
The best time
We were so lucky to have seen this
To this very day I refer to Friday as Gaiking Day. Even though my younger coworkers have no clue what the heck I'm talking about. 😊
Every Friday afternoon channel 56 WLVI Boston

Saw the show once early one Sunday morning on Showtime.
Looks like whoever created this show, eventually transformed it into Voltron! The characters all look very similar!
