- Despite nearly two decades as a band, Death Cab for Cutie have embarked on a new journey with their new album, Kintsugi, their eighth full-length. Founding member and regular producer Chris Walla announced that he was leaving the band, leading them to work with an outside producer (in this case, Rich Costey) for the first time. They seem to have weathered the storm in fine fashion, soldiering on as a trio and performing new songs for us as they return to Morning Becomes Eclectic on the release day for their new album.

hats off to the recording engineer. This sounds fantastic. Great bass drum tone, not just a thud.
Fantastic. Love this band.
The only word that comes to mid for this song is … Beautiful….
What a tune.

Wow, gorgeous.
I don't know why some s****d people prefer to criticise EVERYTHING about this video instead of enjoying the music and the warm atmosphere created in this informal video... by the way this video sounds better than the studio album that has been severely brickwalled...
Sheesh the sound guy needs to be replaced.
No love for the bass player. Not one camera angle. Typical! haha!
Ben Abee Check 1:20, there he is in all his glory! lol
skiddish813 bahaha!! I actually was looking. I did see at least one tuner haha!!
This video is actually available in a VR format, I found it on my samsung gear VR. you can turn your head and look at whatever you want. It's actually really cool (and strange when you're surrounded by a band playing a song when you're on the toilet).
Where can I find this full session? It was here on RUclips some time ago, but it was removed
where is the bass player?
Mr. 6 six6 the bass sound it is using synthesizer.

The sound guy screwed the pooch on Ben's mic levels. Terrible.
+Ethan Anderson That mic just sounds bad on his voice.
+Ethan Anderson I was thinking the same as soon as he started singing.
He fixed it after literally the first line lol
he adjusted it
Great performance, love this song. But there are terrible mistakes in the mix regarding the vocals
the aesthetic for this video is cool, but the sound mix is pretty bad and the camera work is even worse! Even the cuts are rubbish. So much potential but jeez get some professional cameramen and a better sound technician...
Gibbard was lucky not to receive a copyright challenge from Tom Petty's "Last Dance of Mary Jane" on this... the melody and chords are very, very similar. Both are indisputably great songs. While this mix is less than ideal, it is also very far from sounding bad; i enjoyed it.
Not even close man
Tom Petty is Dead
@@Popcornchicken42 😂🤦♂️
I guess Tom Petty decided not to be petty lmao
Similar chord progression, similar rhythm, but the melody seemed very different to me.
Is it me or the voice is too loud and dry?
+Syrinx1987 It is not just you. Who mixed this? Get a limiter and a compressor on this thing.
The only disappointment is that they're almost all wearing M50s (except for the drummer). While they aren't recording music, they're still playing it back using a headphone with a inherent, and noticeable, bass boost. Should be wearing M40s. Those are neutral headphones.
