I think it's also pretty much accepted that the green light was originally just for TRG but when things started happening where the Surenos couldn't tell who was TRG or not, they included all Asians under the green light. I remember an ESL gang member veterano telling the story of how he would have Asian inmates at county jail lift up their tops to check out their tattoos to see their affiliation. I also remember a long, long time ago in the early 2000's there used to be an Asian oriented website called Asian Planet. I got locked up in '95 and did 2 years in Susanville. Even though I was part of a Korean gang, I was put in general population instead of an Asian module. While I was in LA County, Max, and Supermax, Sureños were always asking me if I was TRG. If I said no, they would go away. It was a really tough time for Asians.
