I think i know why the first glitch occurs. Since the game lowers the platform, but your on the bug, the platform will disappear and the bug will die. The game will get confused, since the bug worked as both a moving platform and an enemy. If it is a platform, the game will try to support Mario, even while in mid air. But since it will still have qualified as an enemy, it will still die, leaving only a invisible platform left for Mario to stand on. I did no research, im just trying to be scientific. It makes sense though, doesn't it?
In grandmaster Galaxy, at the part where there are blue stars, you can look up to see the creepy things, but also, if you look behind you, there's a launch star! I've tried to reach it with clouds, but maybe you can get there with that flutter trick!

High hopes for a Super Mario Galaxy 3 on the NX. Image a 363 star quest. I doubt it but I really hope that it has online/local multiplayer compatibility with Luigi as the 2nd player. I think it would be cool to have some levels that had some co-op secrets.

Thank you for putting so much effort into this. The yoshi jump glitch gets really tedious and annoying, so you had to have put at least 10 hours into footage for this video. I would have gave up by then. So thanks for curing my curiosity at your expense.

The first glitch you showed seems to be caused by not properly loading the defeat of the bug. This could be shown because you die when it is reloaded using the zoom, and when you fall off, you see it get defeated.
you know when you speed up on emulator for snes or gba or nes or n64, the music turns into shit and is not recognizable. However, in galaxy, when you speed up the music, it is still audible and fairly clear. its like there is music interpolation or some shit.

Yeah, Nintendo never really did patches for the Wii. They still don't much. Splatoon is the only one I can think of that had lots of updates. Smash had a few too, and all the recent Pokemon games (XY and newer) have gotten one or two, but not much.
How do you even find all these glitches? Like... it's not like you randomly want to get hit by a thwomp and happen to be parallel to some bricks to clip through the ground...
The first glitch is due to how the game unloads sprites combined with how it handles physics. When you're physically still touching something that's unloaded while you're not. It just continues to exist beneath you, the game de-renders both the platform and the bug, unlike the platform however the bug isn't simply taken away when you stand on it. Your feet keep it in existence through an event that says you're standing on it. If it's not something along those lines I'm unsure as well.

I assure you, if you try to access the Giga lakitu planet on the first mission of Yoshi Star and try to go back or move away, you will always lose a life. The same thing happened to me when I did it, but long time ago.
Reason for the first glitch: The Bugaboo (or any other enemy) "poofs" away when falling of the edge/hitting the "bottom" of the level. Same happens with Mario. You die when falling of the edge. But Marios "Point of Death (PoD)" is lower than the PoD of the enemys (Mostly because Marios death is animated with him getting sucked in a black hole). In the glitch the Bugaboo seems to die, while in reality, its only invisible/disapeared when hitting its PoD. This is the point where you have your invisible "platform". (This happens with everything Mario interacts while falling of the edge. While normally enemys/objects "die" before Mario, they only dissapear when Mario reached his PoD when he interacts with said enemy/object) You will notice: The platform is as big as the Bugaboo. Now, if Mario walks off the "platform", you can see the "death" of the Bugadoo, because Mario stopt interacting with it.
One time i played on a Emulator. When an enemy dies, there are slight changes in data so the system know: "Enemy dead, can respwan, etc." When doing this glitch, there is no change, therfore the system does not register the enemys death. It only starts changing when you jmp off the platform and start falling again.
For the Whomp glitch (clipping through the ground), I think you also have to be close enough to the little door to clip through there. I'm not certain, but I think the Whomp will only push you though where you're meant to fall through.
This is really minor, but there is a music glitch you can perform in Shiverburn Galaxy. Make your way to the pipe at the end of the first planet and go inside. Play the chimp's minigame and win, but don't collect the star. Exit the pipe and take the launch star. The icy planet theme will now play for the rest of the level until you reach King Caliente. (You can also make the fire planet theme play throughout the level instead, if you can manage to maneuver the first planet with the lava.)
4:10 I think this is supposed to be an endless fall probably, as you thought. I don't know exactly if it's only in certain circumstances, but I heard somewhere that in SMG2 if Mario stays in the air for too long, you lose a life!
When you go down with the bug, the game is confused since the bug should be dead, so it dissapears beneath you, leaving you with an invisible platform. When you ground pound, the bug dies, thus deleting it's collision data, which keeps you from falling. When you walk off it, or kill the bug, the game finally gets the message that the bug should be dead, and so it deletes the collision data, making you fall.
there's an invisible platform on the first glitch because the game doesn't know what to do because you're standing on the beetle. most likely the game doesn't have a death animation when the beetle is stuck in that position
Played a lot of Galaxy 2 recently, because I watched an infinite lives video and forgot I had it. So It's become my favorite Super Mario game, right next to NSMB2.
That was when I first tried it. I thought I had stopped, but after viewing the sped up version, I clearly hadn't. Also, my hands were starting to hurt.
1:02 the game didn't expect Mario to be on the enemy when the platform disappeared, and the game gets confused. But when mario does actions that kills the enemy, the game comes back on track and you die.
Dang it, got really excited that you might journey out to the planet in Yoshi Star Galaxy with little planets floating around it. I went there once, and there're actually a bunch of Goombas you can kill for a 1 Up.

It's definitely possible, but the camera angle prevents you from seeing where you're going, so It'd be really difficult.

there's an invisible platform on the first glitch because the game doesn't know what to do because you're standing on the beetle. most likely the game doesn't have a death animation when the beetle is stuck in that position
Played a lot of Galaxy 2 recently, because I watched an infinite lives video and forgot I had it. So It's become my favorite Super Mario game, right next to NSMB2.

That was when I first tried it. I thought I had stopped, but after viewing the sped up version, I clearly hadn't. Also, my hands were starting to hurt.

Yoshi flutter is kinda hard, but when you get the hang of it you're good :)

The sped up music sounded pretty awesome.
1:02 the game didn't expect Mario to be on the enemy when the platform disappeared, and the game gets confused. But when mario does actions that kills the enemy, the game comes back on track and you die.
Dang it, got really excited that you might journey out to the planet in Yoshi Star Galaxy with little planets floating around it. I went there once, and there're actually a bunch of Goombas you can kill for a 1 Up.
