Nice video. Thanks for yesterday with me and Francois, really enjoyed that. Sorry about the bit with Riley the Dude, i've already apologised. Good day!
It’s quite understandable that when a new train line opens, there will be delays and issues, because the line is still trying to sync in with the rest of the network. I said this because Ellenbrook and midland have 1 minute on platform 8. It’s at the start of the video. 0:03
I totally get that you're not totally satisfied with how Transperth managing with the Ellenbrook line and why is it not extended all the way to Daglish. I'm a commuter users myself and if you actually send a feedback to Transperth based on this video, all of us here in Perth should be grateful with our public transportation network in comparison to the east coast - their network is 2x worse compared to us here in the west coast.
hold on im kind of confused, at the start of the video you shows the screen for platform 9 with no trains, whats the reason they cant terminate Ellenbrook trains there, is it to do with a lack of cross overs or something different
@055f00 thats really interesting, because i was looking at the map for perth station and they have anough platforms for all lines. if they dindt have this strange rule they should have made ellenbrook line trains terminate on platforms 8/9, airport and midland/fremantle lines run through on platform 6 and 7 and have vic park terminate 5 and 4, yes they would have to build crossovers, but that could be done quickly and would probably use the money instead of for the daglish siding upgrade
@Revilok08 There *are* crossovers, but they would involve trains moving in the wrong direction and crossing over active tracks, which just isn’t feasible with the frequency of trains in the Bayswater - Claremont track
@Revilok08 that can work but they would need to build another crossover from the Fremantle up track to platform 7 to up trains don’t congest the Fremantle down platforms
there is space on the eastern side of Perth where if they were smart they would use the "siding" connect it back up to the midland out, all Ellenbrook train coming IN use the switch over just south of Mclver go right in to plat* 9

@@ThomasWilson07 That's at Armadale yes. That's why that's delayed until 2026. But the rest of the elevated section to Cannington is nearly ready and testing will commence on Sunday.
@@TransportofPerth Hi there, i did comment on your previous video about the armadale line testing, there are currently 2 sets of signals at the armadale bound end of gosnells stn and there are also a siding where the old station used to be, so i believe Armadale line trains will run to gosnells stn with 907 RR still running Armadale - Gosnells
They should double up the line freo to to claremont so they can have express trains with freo trains only stopping at subiaco and claremont to make journeys way faster especially when the freo line links up to Cockburn. Commuting to freo is ridiculous stopping constantly. Airport line trains can deal with the stations airport to freo.
Daglish would not be an ideal station to terminate services due to it not being accessible from platform to street level. The platforms themselves are compliant with current standards for level boarding (save for the lack of tactile ground surface indicators at the platform edges) but the single point of entrance requires the negotiation of a long ramp with a grade of 1:7 - not safe for those with mobility impairments. Regarding the Ellenbrook Line, it has always been my opinion that the route that this line should have taken should have involved tunneling from Beechboro to the city via Beaufort Street creating an isolated "sector", but now that the line has built, the best way to operate it to ensure long-term reliability is as a branch service starting at Bayswater platforms 2 and 3. There is a convenient cross-platform transfer in the prevailing direction of travel in each direction so the inconvenience that this solution bestows would be minimal in most cases.
Why does the terminus need to be accessible to exit? If someone accidentally stayed on they can just take another train back. Or they could make it terminate at Subiaco at least that is a busy station the frequency should still be high too. Yes the line should have been built as a tunnel under the Galleria... They always just want to run it to Perth though or people will just be annoyed at having to change. It's really not ideal though.
@@TransportofPerth Would be best practice to terminate at an independently accessible station. That being said, terminating trains at Daglish can't be as bad as what they did when they terminated trains at Cottesloe. As you probably know, Cottesloe station commits three out of four "sins": non-conforming platform gaps (both platforms, both horizontal gap and vertical step), has a level crossing as part of the designated accessible pathway and is not equipped with tactile ground surface indicators (and of course, there's the footbridge with steep 1:8 grade ramps and stair only access to platform also).
@@Tysxno It's just old and gets kinks in it which are unsuitable for higher speeds. There are so many bits like this along the heritage lines it's crazy how many speed restrictions there are now. They like to keep a couple platforms empty at Perth in case of emergencies

It really is chaotic with how the three train lines are run together! It's like other busier cities.
