Our venture into PetsWorld was ultimately successful and we're relieved to have Pippin covered by a pet passport. It's a really good record of vaccinations etc.
Poo bags here in Catalonia are free to pick up at any dispenser station visible at typical dog walks
Yes I’ve seen free bags at various places but I am the sort of guy that likes to be prepared so that’s why we buy them. It’s just in case there are no free bags at the critical moment 👍😀😎
Hello Steve and Wendy, When we traveled with Jake we only had to carry his dog license and shot record but this was in the USA. I think to go to Canada it was the same thing. I don't even own a passport. My Daugter studied abroad in Spain. She loved it there. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓

The Search For Sites app is really good for finding sites.
Aires are not suitable for caravans so you’ll need to book your stay at sites.

The local vets don’t seem to care. We were quite open that we spend 90 days here and then back to the UK. They just wanted a proper address that worked on their system. The campsite supplied us with a “properly formatted address” so it was easy 👍😀😎

It is really odd that this vet has told you that Pippin didn’t need a rabies injection. I got a Spanish passport for my dog last year even though her U.K. vaccine hadn’t expired. My dog had to have the rabies vac and has to have a booster within 1 year otherwise it will expire. Once the booster has been done, it has to then be done every 3 years. This was done in the Alicante region and I believe it is different depending which region you have the vaccine done, some regions say every year. Including the rabies vaccine and her passport it was only €51 which is incredible.
Seems to be different with each vet we hear about. Costs vary too, but that’s Spain all over. 👍😀😎

Hi great advice. Can I just ask have you had any problem checking in at Calais/Dover because the new eu passport has no eu rabies vaccination stamp etc. I got our dogs 3 new pet passports in Ireland and because they had a year to run on their rabies, the vet photo copied the rabies vaccination from Uk vaccination record and Uk passport. I’m afraid we might encounter issues checking in. Our youngest dog only has her vaccination record from Uk to proove cover. The vet wrote the rabies batch and expiry date (from vaccination record and uk pet passport on correct rabies page but no stamp. Not sure if this is ok
@CathrineFerguson we have only traveled from France to UK with the new pet passport.
The vet in Spain advised that we keep the old passport handy just in case we get challenged.
We are travelling to France (Sweden) on 24th June 2024 so I guess we will find out then 😀👍😎

Now Pipping has a European passport what is the procedure to go back to the uk ?
The Journey back to UK is pretty much unchanged. We'll get the usual worming tablet for her and have that entered into the Passport, Show the passport to border control if they need it and away we go.
When we return to Europe it's easier as we no longer have to do the Animal Health Certificate (£70 to £200) but revert to the old way we used when the UK was still in the European Pet Passport Scheme.
Do we need to have any treatment for our dog before leaving uk with a European pet passport. We did ours last year in Spain, but can’t remember if we need anything doing before returning to Spain and France.
We've just had the European Pet passport done and not returned to Europe yet. We're due to go back on 24th June and as far as we know, there is nothing more we need to do apart from show the pet passport at the border.

I think as long as all your vaccinations are up to date you just show the new European pet passport at the border. Just like it used to be pre-brexit :)
Hi Steve & Wendy, I've just got a Spanish passport for Nellie in Almerimar .20 euros😊.Nellie had her rabies booster before we left England so the Spanish vet didn't give her any medication. Am I right in thinking her new passport isn't valid until a EU vet has given Nellie meds?
Hey Chris, I'm not sure but that does not sound right. If you have a EU Passport then you should be fine. Just don't have a UK vet do the Rabies. We were told that would invalidate the passport!
