This is a hard one. Especially with AO set to begin this week. Serena definitely had it in the bag. She had a strong lead in her SF matching against Osaka. Her mental wasn’t there. She could definitely have won with a stronger attack attitude. She seemed so deflated when she walked on court. Her movement was great and her serve was strong throughout the tournament leading up to the final match. Her walking off the court made me realize we were at the end. I’m glad she still showed up to a few more slams. But AO 2021 felt like Serena had closed the chapter of professional tennis player. If she hadn’t gotten injured at Wimbledon, then 2021 US Open would’ve been her retirement tournament. I still hold out hope that we’ll see her do exhibitions or a pop up somewhere, someday. I LOVE YOU SERENA!

What, Serena had a "strong lead" against Osaka in the AO 21 semis??
      She lost 3-6 4-6.
Her only lead was a 2-0 in the first set....

Yall I’m really in my feelings.… I’m going to miss staying until the wee hours to watch Serena play. I’ve been doing since I was an adolescent 😭😭😭😭. The tour is just not the same with her. I can’t even watch tennis anymore cause it’s so damn boring 🫤 come back queen we need a good 2 years of focused tennis.

though her body failed to support her to competing on this level, but her technique and game strategy are just brilliant, just out of this world class. And the outfit is so chic sister!

It's a pity that we want our stars to continue playing forever and forget there comes a time in life to choose a career or a family.... Serena gave us years of love, commitment, passion for her craft and showing up.... change the game completely...... it's not easy to wake up early every day, go to gym and training.. traveling the world with a baby and the hubby.....I remember her saying in one of the interviews that everytime she serve....she think of her baby that maybe she's crying.... that's when you know that and understand that family is more important than anything else you achieved......
The most decorated sprinter in 100 and 200m... Shelly Ann.. she's retiring after Paris Olympics 2024.... reason being her son needs her and want to spend more time with her family...... there's a time in our lives as people that at some point...we gonna retire.....
    Thank you Serena 🎉❤

Serena did not really show up that day... definitely felt like her title that year. But was still a wonderful tournament from her. If she had gone down fighting against Naomi would have been an epic of a lifetime, but she was just not herself that day... did not even look like she was trying to win near to the end.

I wanted Serena to win AO '21 so badly ugh she was moving so well and that was the fittest she had looked in her comeback. Unfortunately the nerves got to her in that SF because her movement looked stifled and not as explosive and alert as the previous rounds. Glad she beat Halep and Sabalenka tho!

The truth Serena never took winning more grand slams seriously post Olympia…
Her fitness really never got back to the level it needed to be (AO 21 and maybe the US Open 20 was the best it got), she didn’t play many lead up tournaments, to win big imo u need to play small tournaments, be match tough mentally and emotionally…
Being a mother, a new wife and business women made it hard…
But that’s the life she choose … but as a fan we wanted more… but she wanted different things…

2021 actually felt like her year, aside from what happened at the Australian Open, where she couldn't play at an even decent level against Osaka, Wimbledon was a really good chance 😪. But I just sense a comeback soon. I don't think she's truly done.

I gonna go ahead and be hard and critical...as soon as someone told me she was pregnant, I said...that's it. Serena is done. when she came back on tour, i was elated but in practices and tune ups, i never really saw "Serena" . I just saw a good tennis player. Especially the 2020-21 tune ups, it was like watching a high performing NCAA player. The serve was gone, she was overweight and panting a lot, the forehand looked very "textbook"...whatever Serena had that made her Serena on court, was transferred in birth to Olympia. The passion was there but that competitive drive that needed to be there to ensure a grand slam was gone.
