I love this video! Thank you so much. I read The Remains of the Day in June and instantly thought “ok, now I need to read all of Ishiguro’s work”. I literally just finished A Pale View of Hills and think I’m going to start rereading it today. I love how he writes and throws those twists in towards the end that make you completely rethink what you’ve been reading.

Welcome to the rereading journey!! Yes I completely agree, it's why I've enjoyed going through them again so much, seeing the buildup and thinking 'how could I not have seen this!?' or 'woah this is completely different now I know that what the heck'. Thanks for watching!

I just finished the book and I had the same thoughts as you. I was surprised at the last scene at the end of chapter 10 where Etsuko says to Mariko “we can always come back” as if she’s the one who’s leaving the country with Mariko. At that moment it occurred to me are they the same person???

Fantastic- one of my favourite authors- been reading his novels since 1986.
If you like Ishiguro then I highly recommend Ian McEwan and Angela Carter

thank you for your commentary !! when i was reading this book, i found myself always irritated at sachiko's behavior and especially how she'd act with etsuko, but i never once thought what it could mean about etsuko's life and how she ended up the way she is. thank you for opening that up !!

Such a great video! I've just finished the book and it was very hard to process so I decided to look for different takes on the novel. I really like this book club idea as well, although I'm very late to join the parry, but I still might follow up all of Ishiguro's books with your content 😊
