Fun fact: Viserys married his wife Aemma when she was ELEVEN. And they did not consummate until she was 12. Maesters believed that the reason Aemma kept losing babies is because she was bed too early. 👀😬
what happens is that in the book "Fire and Blood" the maesters always say "according to this source it happened, but it is also very unlikely" the show uses these gaps to put new things, but nothing that changes the events, everything is going the same the story, just a few small changes that add new information, in the book itself there is more than one version of the events so I'm finding it cool what the show is doing since in the book this whole story is told in the form of reports

The point of GRRM writing Fire and Blood is that History is not always accurate and History books are just interpretation of the Writer so it's not always what exactly happened . There are even different versions of same events in Fire and Blood

- It's been around 6 months since episode 1
- The characters ages have changed from the books. Viserys is probably in his 40s. And Alicent is around 15, just like Rhaenyra.
Also, both Alicent and Rhaenyra are changing actors after the main and largest time skip, these will be the main actresses for the show going forward.

Emergency Awesome gives out book spoilers without warnings and this video is full of them: 13:55, 15:53, 18:07, 18:47, 20:46, 22:37. So if you haven't read the books and wish to remain unspoiled, highly recommend other channels like Alt+Shift+X or The Batt Productions

I dont think she realised that "Fire and Blood" is written like a history book by Maesters
So the video saying that the HoTD show is the "true events" of what happens is confusing for the people who haven't read the book Fire & Blood, this book which is set in Westeros but apart from the main book series, Song of Ice and Fire, is a history book written in the POV of a Maester writing down the History of the Targaryen Dynasty and the maesters write with second hand information or information they have gathered themselves but as it's not first hand information no one is sure if what's written is what happened or not and that's the fun of the book, it's riddled with inconsistencies and unreliable witnesses that put their own spin in the story for their own personal gain, a game of telephone history if you will. What I think the show is doing is giving us ACTUAL happenings of the period of the Dance of the Dragons civil war as George has said that he is in more contact with this series creators and they already have the 5 seasons mapped so he is probably the main source of what we will see and also with the tidbit of information on Aegon The Conqueror's dream of the long night and being called the Song of Ice and Fire something that has actually never been mentioned in the book so it's brand new, first hand information. I hope this clears some confusion.

21:30 fire and blood is written by the maesters and we have to keep in mind that george wanted to portray that not all information given by the maesters is fully reliable given that the maesters and the citadel were pretty anti-targaryen and they have their own agendas and bias that comes into play while writing history and I think that touch to it is just brilliant on GRRM’s part.

Daemon dont want the throne, he just wants to be by the kings side. In this case the queens side. Daemon will become Rhaerya right hand/house guard and go against other houses of the realm.
Don't worry Daemon and Rhaenyra will get marry in the future.

A little something that isn't mentioned in this video is that since Ser Criston Cole is from a small/lower house, he is the only knight without a squire and he's dressed plainly compared to the other houses. I really liked this detail and I didn't even notice it until I re-watched the episode

My issue with this guy is how casually he spoils MASSIVE plot details like it’s no big deal.

Tolkien did the same thing which is where Martin gets it from. Lord of the Rings is not factual but from Frodo`s writing and telling of the story. The truth of the history of the elves is lost to old myths.

Rhaenyra has better ruler qualities than either Viserys or Daemon. We already saw what a strategist she is in Ep 2 as a 15-year-old. Viserys can't just walk back what he said to her in Ep 1 just because he'll finally have a son. I think Daemon is better off as an army general. Not a king 👑. But Otto keeps throwing Daemon under the bus whether in front of him or behind his back that it makes Viserys push away his brother.
In the real world, Viserys makes a good king. He's a very good man. But in a world like Game of Thrones full of backstabbing and power-seeking characters like a Littlefinger or Otto, he makes for a weak and vulnerable king. You saw Corlys and Rhaenyra storm out after he chose Alicent. A respected king would not have people turn their back on him like that. That means they don't respect him enough.
If I was Viserys, I would ally myself towards my brother. Not a Hand pimping his daughter towards me to marry her. Blood is thicker than water. At least Corlys isn't that gullible. He wants the strength of Daemon on his side to take out the Crabfeeder or any other dangerous threat. Daemon to me is the most unbeatable character in HOT D. He has no weaknesses when it comes to war and he has a huge dragon to ride on.
Daemon is the type of ally you need when 💩 hits the fan and 💩 will hit the fan after Viserys dies. Daemon doesn't need to be king. Could put him as your Kingsguard. Or army general. He can command ships while riding Caraxes. Heck, he doesn't need a fleet or army. Just ride Caraxes and burn everything down. All Daemon wanted was affection and attention from his brother. Not be pushed away from the council to do odd jobs.
Very happy for Matt "Daemon" Smith. He got the role of a lifetime. He's going to shoot a lot of sex scenes with women of color. Women with African decent. Then more people will say it's WOKE from all the race-bending and interracial couples when GOT was blasted for not having a lot of Black characters for years and years. John Boyega even mentioned it.
Don't hate the playa (Daemon), hate the game (Otto's plan).
Wrong daemon will be a better king
As a book reader all m gonna say is, I personally took away that none of the targaryens in the story up till now were good rulers, including Rhaenyra, she gets her chance and she fucks it's up badly too. Daemon is not a king, he's something else entirely, he's more like Jaime a Lil bit. Viserys is a good man but a bad king. I think the only good ruler hasn't even been born yet , he'll probably b born in the second half of the season. Out of all of em, Corlys and Rhaenys r probably the only potentially good rulers, because they r just like Jahaerys the Conciliator in their approach.

I think Rhaenyra had the most promise at the beginning but she fucked it up + add all the personal tragedy. Also, I think she is a good example how they should have shown Dany and her decline in S8.
@@leonardopribic2661 I'm talking about Viserys II, Rhaenyra's youngest son, who rules for 3 kings as Hand, and then becomes King himself. He's rated to be the second best ruler in the history of Westeros, after jahaerys I.
@@dhruv9744 Ahh yes, I forgot about him. Mostly cuz he only comes into play after the dance and is instrumental for the future of the house. But during the show he will be thought dead for the I guess final seasons of the show. Only after Aegon III became king did they find out Viserys II is actually alive. So unless they show it in the show, he will not be featured that much, and only as a child. But also, while we consider him such, most of the people in Westeros did not actually have a good opinion of Viserys.

You don’t think Game of Thrones did any work to connect emotionally??? HOLD THE DOOR!!! Is all I have to say.
I’m not coming for you because you’re entitled to your opinion…and it’s totally fine to disagree on things. I just wanted to say a few reasons why you may just be forgetting about some of the more emotional beats of Game of Thrones. The main reason could be is because usually it was different emotions than the emotions they are evoking in House of The Dragon. Plus Game of Thrones had a lot of big actiony moments that were almost all spectacle so perhaps because those spectacle heavy moments are the most memorable in your mind so therefore that’s all you remember about the show.
Also there are soooo many many moments that were super emotional…but perhaps you got too sucked up with the spectacle and werent truly invested? Which is fine.
But I think you’re kind of selling Game of Thrones short…I mean Ned dying, the red wedding, Tyrion being betrayed by Shay and his father yet again, all of Joffrrey’s siblings eventually dying, everything with Jorah, Jamie going to Winterfell for Brienne confessing his love and taking her v card then leaving her immediately after he busts, Hodor dying, etc.
Nobody cares about no brienne and Jaime Lmao that was done so poor being stopped caring about it at that point..Joffrey siblings dying was seen as nothing as well especially tommen lol tbh I never even felt bad for Jorah either I mean they sped thru so much of it it was hard to care for these things like you say…the hodor one,all the starks stuff was very crucial tho so I agree wit you they are wrong about not connecting emotionally just not all the examples you gave.
No, I think that Jaby said that *he* didn’t connect emotionally, not that GOT didn’t try. I didn’t connect either, but I’m more into the high fantasy aspects, and GOT was made to be more low fantasy, relying on high intrigue to carry much of the story.
That said, the books have a ton of intrigue as well, and probably part of what led to me skipping chapters, because they wouldn’t hold my interest. Also, being inside some of the characters’ heads was a bit of a bore for me. 😆
I would recommend reacting to Alt Shift X's video about House of Dragons for a more thorough explanation. It takes a few days for the video to come out, but He is one of the best for Song of Ice and Fire lore.

Even otto supporting Rhaenyra's name for heir was a clear plan by him as it's easier to remove her from the line of succession than compared to removing Damon . that was his plan when he sent his daughter to the kings chambers . He is slowing putting all pieces together , in a way he is better than Tywin Lannister in politics manipulations
Emilia could always play Dany because there weren 't such big time jumps in GOT

This was fascinating! Again, I never saw GOT, and I did not read the series so this prequel series is (nearly) all new to me. As for the writing down of history, it reminded me of when I took Russian history in college (History was my major) and we were reminded that all texts may have flawed perspectives (the old "history is written by the winners" idea).

Because the Maesters DID write it. Fire and Blood is written like a boring history book by a maester from the witnesses of a couple people like a court jester. Of course most of the things in the book were wrong. That's kinda the beauty of the book. You'll have to infer some things on your own.

More of less the fire and blood book is like a history book (fake) , it is a story told from winner's perspective or someone who is biased, so definitely the major events are going to be same but it is interesting how in the house of dragons they are showing the other side of the coin that is an inside perspective from within
It is also a good example of our real world how we rely on text book knowledge of what happened in history

GRRM wrote it as a subjective history by multiple people so points of view change and shift

George R. Martin is just doing what is probably true with historical accounts that are written and passed down for centuries. What's written down in books probably isn't even telling most of what really happened. It'll be kinda dumb for anyone to think that what's written in historical text is 100% accurate. That's all he's doing here is saying this is what actually happened and the maesters got a lot of it wrong. Different books of the Bible about Jesus was written centuries after he died but people believe everything written in it is true.

Just wanted to remind people that, GRRM is very clear that the Fire and Blood is written by an unreliable narrator. The Maester who wrote it comes from Old Town so he is probably biased in favor of Otto and Alicent Hightower. His sources are very questionable people and it's obvious that they are passing off salacious gossip and exaggerations as fact. So the book is NOT a history book filled with facts but instead a retelling/ legend of a past event. It's more historical fiction than history.

Achara, GRRM intentionally wrote the book as an unreliable narrative. It’s written from the perspectives of a maester, and a jester.
And for the both of you, it’s a 6mo time jump from the end of ep1 to beginning of ep2. What’s his face has done a somewhat crappy job with this video. There are a few other errors others have pointed out. Perhaps find a RUclipsr who is less misleading?

Most of them we never even met and all I see is a bunch of blood flowing around something..om not even sure if it's supposed to be a mountain or castle. Atleast the GOT intros shower us the various locations of the world and what tk expect..this one doesn't tell u much unless u read the book and studied each symbol lmof every single targaryeon family..so lame and confusing.
