I've noticed how simple he is with his drum patterns. I was listening to "Congratulations" by Post. It's just this one same drum pattern playing throughout the beat. I hate when producers used a 1000 hihats going all over the place and madd 808 patterns lol.
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38 KJV
The best tip for mixing a beat or whatever track you’re doing is to take breaks in between so that sensory adaptation to the sound can wear off a bit and you can listen to what you’re making with fresh ears.
Facts. I like to get a beat done and not listen to it again till the next day. Then I can hear where changes need to be made either in the mix or format.

Best advice I’ve heard in almost ten years of making beats: DO NOT OVERTHINK SH!T. Sometimes the most simplistic beats be the hardest. Adding too many sounds or over mixing the beat can make it harder for a rapper to find a flow on the track. Give each beat time to breathe and the space needed for the artist to add their sauce. Always remember, anytime you’re stuck on a beat, or debating on which sounds to use, D.O.T.S, Don’t OverThink Sh!t, listen to the sample/melody, feel what’s needed, then go with the flow.
@@andrewaboy8852 This is how trap beats and pop records are mostly produced. I learned the big three from, sound_wrangler who mixes for artists like Travis Scott and Beyoncé. A rule of thumb is just a guideline but to each their own😂🤷♂️

Good advice. For me, I hear all of the 808s, snare and Hi and but when I try to make my on beat, it just doesn't hit like I want in my head. Then I just try again until I get it.
Thats Most def facts thats all i do with my mixes people will say this and than but its really all about how loud you low you yourself want that sound and if it sounds good to you
Lol the reason he is saying this is because the engineer is the one who actually mixes and makes the beat sound right, he doesn’t make too big of a deal about it because it’s not his job to
The most important thing for mixing is sound selection, mainly the kick and the 808 or bass. Certain kicks work great worth certain 808s, others do not at all. It has to do with the waveform. When you have waveforms that don’t line up well it basically just sounds like ass. So keep trying different kicks and 808s or use sidechain so that the 808 ducks when the kick hits. The most popular spinz 808 is most popular because it can be used by amateur trap producers as a kick if they just push it hard into a clipper. Thats because it’s already got a loud transient in the 808. It also works well with the rack kicks and ball kicks. But it works terribly with most other kicks if you don’t properly sidechain it because the transient clashes with them. That’s why a lot of people struggle with the kick and 808 sounding right. It is a good 808 but it’s not actually as versatile as people make it seem. It’s only got its reputation because trap producers who only know how to use a clipper hardly ever use it with kicks or just use the same few kicks everytime. And there’s a reason why every beat they make sounds the same. Trap production is dope but don’t get advice from RUclips trap beat videos they hardly ever know what they’re actually doing.
The mainstream trap sound has changed a lot in the last 5-6 years. While it's the same type of vibe, it's a lot smoother than it used to be. It's made to be able to be played as pop music rather than rap. His old stuff used to SLAM, every beat was made to make you wanna pull up on someone. Now Trap has become mainstream, so it's toned down a lot to appear to a wider audience rather than just the hood.
Yeah just do what sounds good and don’t overcomplicate it, sounds like anybody can be a mix and mastering engineer like there’s nothing behind it only because he himself only produces 🤦🏻♂️
he is right though mixing is ultimately down to personal taste, and which techniques you can apply but you are right he himself usually does not mix the finished songs as there are engineers dedicated to the discipline
The sooner you understand that leveling is key the easier you stop stressing. I havent stressed about mixes in 4 years, if you have to spend 15 minutes on mixing alone then you overdoing it imo.
Thats what Metro is known for. His unique simplicity.
