I’m a year late, but I wanna tell my language story lmao. When I first took Spanish it was 8th grade, and we had substitutes until the last couple months of the year. We learned nothing. I had one sub who did try to teach but it was a constant rotation of her and a few others. Her I respect. But, every sub including her passed all of us, our actual teacher came and we loved and respected her too but it was too late and she also just passed us out of love. Sweet. But, I went to high school with a girl from my middle school Spanish class and it was a disaster. I think she started getting it like a year later than I did. But I was put in freshman Spanish and Italian. Learning one language while having to pretend (then shutting off from) to know another. Eventually I just was basically kicked out of both because I just literally couldn’t follow anything and they were both mean, one even lost my language book and made us pay for it which didn’t surprise me at my school. My Spanish teacher even kicked a kid out for saying “Ocupado” means occupied. Does it? I still can’t be sure. But luckily they stopped making a language a requirement for graduation so I got to fill it with cooler shit teachers who knew me wanted me in. Didn’t work I’m still a loser but I’ll always love the teachers that weren’t mean because I was stupid.
