Adding "AI" to everything is like adding "gaming" to everything, it's just a buzzword to increase the price without actually offering more.
Idk tho, I think it will.add something and that is easier spying for the government. A.i baked into everything and with every device having Bluetooth they will track u with mesh networks.
Dear lord, here come the "AI" computer chairs.
Probably due to the now included NPU so now you get a CPU+NPU chip. The NPU isn't a general use chip but a specialized chip for neural network compute. So in theory you can run the neural network along side of a general compute process along side a GPU process all on the same CPU package.
Yeah no. Not really the same if the "AI" means it actually offers a NPU. NPU is actually offering more. If there is no NPU then i would agree.
Or at least it's just ambiguous. The RK3588's got an NPU for these kinds of things but it doesn't really bill itself as "AI". So does "AI" mean NPU or something else? Who knows.

The draw to ARM is low cost low power so if they sell it for high cost they really have to be better than Intel and AMD in a way that the avg " i just want to surf the net, watch videos, see images, and do word processing on it" consumers will notice

Yeah. I can unironically see gamers buying it in droves, even tho Nvidia has pretty much thrown them under the bus.
Seems like AMD is internally changing their idea of standard low-power versus something genuinely designed for low power. To me their new "low power TDP" range seems more like failed chips with certain items disabled and thus sold as a lower SKU item.
You had me at "Nvidia is making CPUs", you lost me at ARM and AI garbage.

Ray Tracing is very useful for example if you are recording game videos for edit videos for those flashy visuals many praise, but for actual gaming? Meh. But I like the tensor cores though, they are immensely useful especially if you do a lot of upscaling like me. Ray Tracing is also useful to animate ambient/rooms in 3D projects. But yeah it in my opinion has ZERO use in actual gaming.
I'll never buy anything Nvidia ever again. I refuse to be their customer. That said, the Nvidia shield uses an Nvidia chip and it's STILL the best and fastest android TV.

And NVDIA will hike up the prices of cpu if they eventually win the cpu race.
From RTX to CPX.
Because they are greedy.
@@TechReviews2010 all companies are. AMD did the same thing when they finally got completive with Intel. The thing is if nVidia can become a competitor with Intel what is there to stop Intel from driving AMD out of business. AMD was able to stay afloat while in the red for so long as they had a strong backer .... Intel backed them as Intel needs AMD for Intel to get data center contracts. Now think if nVidia comes along with good x86 compatibility then AMD doesn't have to be around anymore thus losing a company who is backing them. If nVidia is good enough then data center server providers will just go with nVidia not AMD for the other choice.
nVidia can put AMD out of business easier in CPUs than in GPUs. This is assuming nVidia has a good product and Quallcomm doesn't take all the market share nVidia wants to grab.
You don't get it, if another competitor joins the race, all of us will win. That's how competition works in market, consumers either get better products for less price or way better quality products for the same or a bit more price.
But of course, competition is still green for NVIDIA in CPU market and for Intel in GPU market, some years have to pass for us to see the good changes. 💁🏻♂️
Literally any company would do the exact same thing. Intel did it before Ryzen. All of these companies are solely out to make money for their shareholders, not to be generous to you.
Nvidia would make a 4c 4t 2.2ghz boost cpu that supports ddr3 and sell it for 200
No. They would make one boosting at 6.4 Ghz, but it comes with a very much reduced amount of cache. Using top of the line technology, but slighty bottlenecking the overpriced product to save money.
No nvidia will make something like rtx CPUs which is good at upscaling and more software features starting at just 500$
They invent a feature only they can do, that no one cares about but you're hypnotised by it... and they charge $5000.
Gamers are braindead.
I would like to see a comparison between the 7500F and this new 8400F. Since we don't get the 7500F in the US.
I'm all for more affordable entry points to the AM5 platform
For a second I was like.. why do you care about an old ass Intel i5 without an igpu? 😂
I have an i5 8400 PC with 6cores. Works good for standard stuff.
Not really surprising Nvidia is going to do consumer chips since they are already doing CPU's anyway and rumors have been floating around that AMD might do ARM chips as well, it will be interesting to see either way since more competition is good even if Nvidia has burned some bridges with gamers. Just imagine if they had been allowed to buy ARM how different things might be right now.
As for QUALCOMM I'll reserve judgement until the chips are actually out, but if they are good I hope framework makes an ARM laptop.
@3:40 @GamerMeld By "Great news for Linus users" I think you meant Linux, check the time stamps.
Mediatek makes arm processors, In order for nvidia to manufacture an x86 or x64 processor they would have to buy the rights from intel for x86 and AMD for x64, or partner with Texas Instruments, or the SiS Corp for the rights to x86.

I am waiting for the new Radeon X-AI RX 9900 XTX X3D.
unless Nvidia does a 180 on pricing compared to their GPU they need to double Intel single core speed and only need 30-35 Watts to get Intel crushing speed
IDK man, they've been selling consumer grade APUs for like a decade now, with their most recent one starting at $500 for 8 CPU cores, and only like 512CUDA cores, but then going up to $2000 for 12 cores and 2048 CUDA cores.
Its basically a tablet CPU plus a low powered 3050 on the same die, with memory slapped on that offers similar performance to an i5-12400+3050, but you know, uses way less power because its not Intel.
For them to drop their profit margins to something acceptable for end users, the existing market for these APUs, and the AI market must be collapsing.
That or the consumer APUs are getting chips built on old, cheap, inefficient nodes that no one else wants.

PC gamers "Come on bro, you don't need to spend $5000 on a computer"

I'm not shelling out an overinflated premium for Nvidia graphics cards. No friggin' way I'm shelling out an overinflated premium for Nvidia CPUs. This is why Intel and AMD won't worry. Meh. Not really earth shattering news, nor do Intel & AMD have much to worry about on the CPU front. Nvidia was already making consumer ARM CPU's in the Tegra SOC, just a natural extension. Let me know when NV has x86 plans.
Finally someone mentioned this. Everybody forgets that Nintendo Switch has an NVidia APU.
And it's so weird to keep saying that it's competing with Intel and AMD, when, being ARM, it's clearly going to compete with Qualcomm first. If it actually happens. There was nothing told of why are / would NVidia do this. The margins on this segment/sector is too low for their current gigantic margins on server GPUs. So either they have a strong reason or its BS (like maybe them opening to sell Tegra chips to the general market, not just b2b)
hmmm,,, i remember when they tried a chipset . if memory serves correct it didn't go so well, i will ride this one out.
AMD actually had a great naming scheme, they had G on the end or integrated graphics, U for low power stuff, like laptops, (they could probaly use a different letter for that one) X for higher tdp, etc. They could have added AI to the end, or even T for tops, a example would be 9700GTX, G for graphics,T for tops, and X for higher TDP, idk how they could mess this up.
Anything to stop the duopoly of the CPU industry these last 20 years
I wil stick to the big Intel - works well and costs are fine.
ARM is everywhere and used in all Apple products, IoT devices, appliances, and very well supported by Linux, MacOS and iOS. And ARM is well-known for its low-power designs combined with high performance as seen in Apple's M processors. If Windows on ARM becomes successful, it'll be the end for power-sucking x86_64 processors from Intel and AMD.
Desktop ARM CPU's are not going to be designed around a low power draw limit. They'll be just as energy guzzling as current x86_64 CPU's. They'll just be faster. But software isn't there yet anyways.
More confusing, just what i need.
if i can get a cheap snapdragon cpu/mobo with plenty of pcie lanes and barely any idle power consumption that works on linux i'll change my storage server immediately
I just hope they don't artificially transition into soldered crap.
Nvidia should have been given an x86-64 license 15 years ago. Or developed one with amd
