Hi, nice video, I wonder if you'll know a straight pull hub that only has 24 holes will also use a 3 cross patterns just like your 28 holes hub? or just will only be on two cross patterns?
Hi man. No because the straight pull has a "pre-build" pattern. 28h DT swiss is 3 cross when 24h is 2 cross. With J bends you have you have more freedom about lacing
This is one of the best intros on wheel building intros I've seen - and I've seen quite a few now. Love the detail and explanation - you're really underselling your skill and knowledge. I'm about to rebuild my wheels using sapim d-lights and double square nipples - so wish me luck:) Can you tell me what truing stand you bought and for how much? PS how's the wheels - love the idea of super deep and super wide hookless - similar idea to my token G33s (but deeper)!
Thank you so much man. The truing stand is a pretty popular one on aliexpress, it works pretty decently but for the price I paid, shipping included, you could go with a parktool. The wheels are still pretty good. After one year I recently check them and I did some micro tuning, nothing special.
1) Did you have to use the DT Swiss spoke length calculator tool to determine correct spoke sizes? 2) And did you find that the left and right side spokes had to be a different length for this specific hub? 3) Do you recommend using nipple washers for carbon fiber wheel building?
1) I used 3 different calculators to be sure. The important thing is to get the right ERD measuring it by yourself. 2) yes 2 different length 3) no needs for washers
@@wretchedworm I saved the cost of the 240s hubs and maybe something for the spokes. The goal was to learn how to lace and build a wheelset without spending too much
@@projectcycling but u would have to buy a truing stand right? i checked the prices of that and i don't know... unless i'm going to build lots of wheels, it doesn't seem justifiable if all i want to do is to learn how to build a wheel.
@@wretchedworm that's right, but I bought one from Aliexpress that does the job. It's not like the classic parktool in terms of stability, but more than enough to build some wheels and check them from time to time (disc rotors too)
Thanks for sharing the wheel build experience. Great one.
So good 👍
Please 🙏 make more videos 📹
You are the best!!
Thank you so much man
Thank you for an interesting video!

Good Job 👏

@@projectcycling 3) why?
@@vadlme because in the user manual it's written you don't need washers and personally I've never seen a carbon rim with washers
@@projectcycling for example, prime black edition carbon wheels building with dt spokes & nipples with washers
@@vadlme in fact, another rims brand with another spokes brand. It's a matter of choice/need/company instructions manual.
How did you like the truing stand? If you would recommend it, can you link to it?
This truing stand does the job but I would like something with stiffer arms. Need to take some time to see if I can improve it
nice. how much did you save compared to if you were to buy it?

How did you dished the wheel?
With the truing stand, using a single pointer and flipping the wheel back and forth to check if the distance was the same
Whats the measurement of your spokes?
276mm for sure and the other half I cannot find it anymore...maybe 278mm
