I love the Behringer remake. I'm one the lucky ones to have played the original Wasp in the early 80s. Along with Spider sequencer. I love how behringer are recreating the classics.
This one has been high up on my list for a long time, I am happy to see your demo! Such an amazing and versatile synth for the price! Very underrated, this one. But that’s okay 😏 it’s nice to have some synths that are not mainstream / in everybody’s loadout 🤓 thanks and cheers 🍻 🙏
As an owner of TWO of the original Wasps, including one of the very first to hit the UK, I can say that Behringer have managed to capture about 50% of its essential shittyness. On both machines that I had the filter was grainy and unpleasant throughout the octave range on both oscillators. I noticed that when you started adjusting it at 2:12 on oscillator 1 at 4ft. Later, when you adjust the filter on oscillator 2 on a bass setting the resonance is completely smooth. It wasn't on the original. Having said that, the first Wasp I had sounded completely different to the second one. Sadly, the original broke down after just a couple of weeks, and I got a replacement. The circuitry inside (yes, I did look at both) was quite different, and the second one lacked the wonderfully "fruity" sound of the original. I'd say the Behringer version is probably based on the second one.
Very very tempted to order one from cash converters tomorrow. Finally worked out how to setup one of the many outputs in my umc 1820 as an fx send. I might go to storage tomorrow and get my model d back.
had mine fixed because the envelope repeater didn't turn off at it's lowest point.. I got random repeats on various notes.. behringer quality.. this synth is gnarly as f.. filter is great. in the mix however this behringer drowns a bit, at least my mixes.. dunno. at first a lot of behringers sound nice.. then you realise that the synths miss a certain musicality in the sound quality.. for some who have references to originals it's a big deal I guess.. fun synth that is limited and has a persistent type of sound that is very usable in electro or some drone stuff. needs processing. also my envelope filter amount is totally weird.. maybe they took this from the original? the filter brightness response is coming mostly after 60%.. well...
Isn't Stephen interested in this one? Or did he get? The weather machine stuff was incredibly cool, I never would have about doing that. Also, I really like the colours, reminds me of the old Lotus JPS grand prix car. Thanks.
Not that I know of, I mean there are loads of synths that can get close to the sound, but there’s something about the Wasp that’s cool sounding. Someone should definitely make an iOS version👍
@@TheSoundTestRoomgreat video tho man i went ahead and ordered one! Saw your post on the LP forum and that was the final push i needed to get this on my desk haah
The Kobol expander is excellent I’ve had mine since they came out. Has lots of neat tricks like the ability to morph through the oscillators using the 2 lfo’s. And some great patching possibilities.

How does the WASP sound compared to how you remember the OG?

Really nice demo my man. 👍
Very nice synth! Love the looks too

You should get it Stephen
@@TheSoundTestRoom just ordered. Hopefully be here in the next week
Brilliant! Incredible value. On board FX would’ve been nice.

I think Stephen is interested in the Wasp
Yes John I’m very interested in one.
@@kentaccordionist Cheers, I thought I remember seeing you mention the name in chat. Wasp stands out.
Any iOS synth that compares to the wasp? Great demo Doug

I'm hearing a lot of PInk Floyd here! Did they use one of these?
No, I don’t think they did, but you never know.
Floyd didn’t use one but it’s possible to make Richard Wright type Floydy sounds with it.
Daniel Miller and Robert Rental and other industrial post punk bands used this a lot.
I know its a minor nitpick, but people putting a rack/deskop module ON top of their midi controller really bothers me
Oh it won't hurt anything unless maybe at a gig. 😏
Got a Wasp this week 😂, perfect timing Doug. Can you get a Kobol next??? 😂😂

@@kentaccordionist I got in on the pre order too for the Kobol 👍
@@SemtêxČØŴv2.0 hopefully not too long before the poly kobol is completed.
