We have the same problem! We have the same awning which is almost unused and leaked just as bad in its first real shower of rain!! Will try to phone Darche.
I wish you the best of luck. You may get a refund from the store you purchased it from. I've kept mine as it suits our needs for the moment and in wind and sun does a great job. Just a shame about the leaking bag.
Hi mate what was the outcome of this, I have the same problem and have emailed darchce 3 times and no response, I believe it comes through the front Velcro strip when driving, the thing is every time you drive through the rain you have to drop it and air it out otherwise if you forget it then goes mouldy and stains the canvas.
Hi Scott, Darche's response is that they have confirmed that due to the design of the bag and it being replaceable, it is therefor not water tight. A number of people have reached out to me after speaking with Darche at recent 4wd and camping expo's and the reps on the Darche stands have all said the vids on line are not representing the quality of the bags correctly, and that the bag covers are in fact water proof. That statement is correct. The bags are in fact water proof, its the design and the way they have been made (so that they are replaceable) that enables water ingress. Your experience, and that of at least 35 others I know of is exactly the same, it leaks and water does get in and you don't have to be driving for it to do so. Stay tuned as I have a 75% effective fix... vid to come after next rain fall showing what I have had to do to reduce the ingress :-)
I reckon capillary action through the zip is the cause of the problem so unless they change the zip to like a milspec type zip that self seals you'll get water ingress, the same thing has happened in the past with my ARB awning bag , I also have the gen 2 eclipse 270 awning I've not installed it yet so I can't comment about water ingress with my awning but being I live in Darwin and the wet season is about to kick off it won't be too long before I can see the effect rain has on mine
Putting the poles up as I have in my other vid significantly reduces the ingress. A couple of others have also followed my recommendations and are getting much less water in.
